ANOTHER BUSY MARKET DAY

Awoke to the ringing of the alarm and had to think what day is this I was in such a deep sleep. Shaking the cob webs out I dragged myself out of bed and got started with my day. After chores I got ready for market. Daughter came by from her dog sitting job to help me load the van.
We were only 5 minutes later getting to market than normal.
Market was busier than I thought it would be today and I am glad. We took several orders including another 10 caramel cake order from the camp that is ending another session next week.
It's always good to have daughter here as she walks uptown and gets our lunch from a restaurant on main street. They have really good sandwiches.
After market daughter and I split up our supplies stops to help get me home earlier but it still took me until 4:00 because there was such a crowd at Walmart and only about 5 cashiers.
After helping me unload daughter went back to her dog sitting job and I crashed for a while. I think it's the high humidity levels in the air that is just wiping me out. The temperature wasn't that bad today only 82 but the humidity is almost 100%.
We got another sprinkle of rain after I got home but that was it for today.
After my nap and a quick supper I went to the garden, picked cucumbers and squash. The beans are ready for canning but they will have to wait until Monday.
The latest white sitting Silkie has 2 early babies, they weren't suppose to start hatching until Sunday,oh well. I fixed food and water for the chicks and hopefully she'll cover the other eggs for several more days.
She has 1 Quail egg from Hubbie's quail pair but his female is so old I can't imagine it hatching. She is pretty scruffy looking.
Take it from me age can make you pretty scruffy looking sometimes !!!! HAHA!!!

I baked 38 cake layers , 3 pound and 2 wine cakes tonight. Yes it is after midnight again but I figured after my nap this evening I wouldn't go to sleep anyway.
Thankful to God for the strength He gives me each day.
Good Night and God Bless.

BUSY LITTLE BIRDS

Today started off dreary and drizzly but steamy hot, yuck !!
#1 son called at 7:30 to tell me the man who bought his trailer would be here soon. Son was headed to Asheville to doctors appointments today and asked if I would make sure the buyer had everything he needed.
He arrived at 8:30 and skillfully got the trailer hooked up and away he went. I finished chores and came inside to have breakfast. Already sweating at 8:30 in the morning, you know it is going to be a miserable day.
I cleaned floors all morning waiting for g-son to arrive. D-in-love brought him after 11 so I was finished with the floors and they were dry so that worked out well.
I did a couple more loads of month ending linen laundry still holding out on the rugs until I can hang them outside.
G-son was really subdued today, didn't really want to do much but watch cartoons.
I grabbed my camera to photograph a Carolina Wren building a nest in a gourd outside the living room window when he said " aren't you going to take a picture of me?"

Together we watched as mama Wren carried long sticks and gently worked them through the hole into the gourd.G-son wants to fly like the wren. He said if God would lift him up on the clouds he could fly back down. I remember wanting to fly when I was young, running around with my arms held straight out in hopes that my feet would leave the ground behind.

I went to the back to see if any hummingbirds had taken advantage of their new feeder. As I looked around I soon discovered why they weren't at the feeder.
I watched as several hummers flitted about the sweet Mimosa blooms slurping up the nectar.
Glad I choose this time to come outside looking for these little guys,I got some great pics.

The rains returned this evening with some lightening and thunder not to far away. I hurried through chores before I got too wet.
G-son stayed here while his mom and dad went to Bible study at church.
I did all my weekly paperwork and bill paying while waiting for the storm to pass,I don't like to be in the kitchen with the stove going while it's storming.
I iced caramel, chocolate and coconut cakes tonight, wrapped and labeled everything ready for market.
My back is hurting tonight along with one of my ankles. I know why my ankle is hurting as I smacked it into a rocking chair rocker while sweeping off the porch this afternoon. But my back I don't know why it is hurting, maybe all the vacuuming, sweeping and mopping I did this morning.
Thanking God for the many blessings of today.
Good Night and God Bless.

STORMY AFTERNOON

Today started off really foggy and I was hoping for enough sunshine to dry some laundry.
I took a chance and hung out a load of towels about 10:30 as the sun started trying to make an appearance.
Between cleaning and first of the month linen changes I managed to dry most of what I needed to before the rain and storms began around 3pm.
We had a terrible lightening storm and there was a strike really close to our house. It sounded like it was up on top of the hill nearer my brothers house. There are some tall pine trees up there and I figure one of them took the hit. Our phone was knocked out for a while but came back on after I called and reported it out.

This is one of two house that were struck by lightening during this storm in our area. This house is on the other side of town and is a total loss. The other house was just over the road from us but it only had minor damage. Thanking God tonight for His protection during this storm.
I poured out about 6/10 of rain from the gauge this evening as I did chores,it was sill misting rain but the heavy rains have passed.
On the weather tonight they said some places got as much as 5 inches of rain this afternoon.
Baked cakes tonight for 3 hours. The week after a holiday is typically a slow one so we'll see how this one goes.
Grateful to God tonight for His love and protection.
Good Night and God Bless.

HAPPY 235TH BIRTHDAY AMERICA !!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO EVERYONE, MAY YOURS BE A SAFE ,WONDERFUL ONE !!!!

This 4th of July Monday started out sunny and warm. I finished chores and came in for breakfast while Hubbie stayed out and worked in the garden digging potatoes for our potato salad this evening.
We made a trip to Ingles to get a few last minute items for the cook-out.
By this time the clouds had rolled in and a rain shower greeted us back at home.
As that shower passed Hubbie and I moved the grill under the outside patio just in case the rains continue through the afternoon.
We had off and on showers all afternoon, about 2/10ths of rain total, but the temperature sure cooled off nicely.

Burgers and dogs on the grill and.......

Peach ice cream ...........

Made the old fashioned way.....
Yep it's the 4th of July at our house......

A couple of daughter's friends and co-workers joined the rest of the family at our cook-out,had a wonderful time but ate way too much !!!!!
Sit back and enjoy the fireworks starting with some fireworks from God as the day comes to an end.

Good Night and God Bless.

PRE FOURTH SUNDAY A GOOD ONE

Church was all decorated for our patriot honoring service this morning. I was amazed at the number of service men we have in our congregation.
The choir presented praise through song as they all marched in to start the service.
Everyone made it for lunch except d-in-love who is working at her mom and dad's restaurant.
After we ate some of daughter's friends came by for a nice visit. We invited them to our cook-out tomorrow.
The whole family made a trip to Sam's Club for cook-out supplies.
Back home g-son reminded me of the promise I made him yesterday of going to the creek for a while. It is unbelievable how much fun this child has in this cold water. He loved to lay in the current and let it take him downstream.
His dad and uncle D went with Hubbie and I to let him play for a while.

After they all went home Hubbie and I sat outside in the patio and relaxed for a while.

We are enjoying fresh plums from our 1 of 3 plum trees that avoided the late freezing temperatures.
Speaking of temperatures, as we left for Sam's this afternoon it was 95 degrees.
Although a few clouds hung around the horizon all day we had no threat of rain, just humidity.

Hubbie and I gave Snowball another shot of Penicillin tonight to help her fight off an infected foot. I think she acts a little better today, she's still eating grain and I saw her grazing a little this evening plus drinking water.

I heard many fireworks going off tonight. The county had their fireworks tonight which is strange to me as when the 4th falls on a Sunday, they usually have them on Saturday.
So why they choose to have them tonight when the 4th is tomorrow is beyond me.
We couldn't see them but we sure could hear them.

The sun goes down on another wonderfully blessed Sunday.
Good Night and God Bless.

SELL OUT DAY AT MARKET

Busy, busy morning at market today. We were sold out at 1:00.
Daughter loaded all the empties in my van and headed home to take a nap,she still isn't feeling well .
I stopped at a shoe store on the way home and got another pair of insoles so I can wear a new pair of sandals I bought last fall. Downtown was a mad house and I was glad to be out in the country on my way home.
After unloading I noticed the skies were getting pretty dark so I went to the garden and picked green beans for tomorrow's lunch. I also picked cucumbers , peppers and squash.
Hubbie picked up some fresh local corn on his way home this morning.
I came in and rested while I watched the news. #1 son and g-son came by and spent the evening with us.All farmers need harmonica music to farm by !!! Can you tell by the scowl that he is enjoying having his picture taken ??

Failed my first dump truck driving lesson, couldn't keep my foot off the brake as I let out the clutch.
Anyone want to buy a good dump truck ????

Back inside we lazed around the rest of the evening.
Felt good just doing nothing after the hectic week I've had.
Thankful for the many blessings of the day.
Good Night ,God Bless and Happy 4th of July.

THE VIEW FROM HERE

This view from the outside patio actually hasn't changed much since the first of June. Everything is still green and only the money plant that is almost ready to harvest and dry to sell has changed color.
This is month #2 in this view project.

After chores this morning Hubbie and I headed to work at church. We finished at lunch time and had a nice fresh salad for lunch. I love it when I can run up to the garden for cucumbers, peppers and other fresh vegetables.
Daughter came back from more paper signing at her bank and all three of us went over to her house to meet with her home inspector.
He did a very thorough job, looked everywhere, turned everything on,had a pest inspection and a water test all in about 2 hours.
The only problem he found that we already weren't aware of was the hot water heater does not work. He said he thought the element was burned out by the people who winterized the house.
Daughter also got a call telling her that the bank's appraiser valued the house in it's current condition at $180,000 which is almost $60,000 more than she is paying for it so it's nice to know she already has that much equity in it.
As we left we turned all breakers off and locked it up as now it is out of our hands and all up to the bank.
I tried to relax a while when we got home as I am feeling kind of wiped out again.
Seemed like each time I got really comfortable the phone would ring. I finally gave up and headed on a walk around our pasture.
Today has been a sunny mid 80's day and this evening the temperature is cooling down nicely so it felt good to be outside for a while.
Daughter went to dog sit tonight, still not feeling up to her regular self .
I iced caramel, chocolate, coconut as well as baked a chocolate pound cake for an order and iced an extra layer cake with buttercream icing.
I'm done tonight just before midnight.
Hoping everyone has a safe , wonderful 4th of July weekend, may God bless you.
Good Night .
