GOOD BYE AUGUST 2018

This is the last day of August and I got up greeting all 3 kids this morning. Proud of g-son who is taking middle school in stride and says he likes it better than elementary school so far this first week.
After he left with daughter for school I did chores and then the 4 of us left here had breakfast together.
The girls are both acting like they don't feel good today, they are both just really tired from this first week of a new routine also I'm sure.
RL had a meet the teacher for her pre-school at 11:30. She is not nearly as excited this year about going to pre-school as she was last year so I am wondering what next Tuesday which will be her first day will bring.
We met her mom at the school and met her new teacher who is a very young lady . She saw a lot of her last years classmates there and played happily with them so maybe she will be easy to get back in the groove with these same kids. But she still refused to smile for a picture !!!
We came home and she was napping so hubbie carried her in and put her in her bed.
I gathered my baking supplies and started baking for the day after a quick lunch.
Hubbie took IR outside for a while to keep the house really quiet for RL to sleep.
I baked 12 caramel, 3 chocolate, 2 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies and was just turning off the ovens when daughter and d-in-love arrived to pick up the girls.
I rested for a few minutes then we did chores .
I spent the rest of the evening icing cakes and getting things ready for an early departure for market in the morning to beat the apple festival crowd downtown.
To end this month of August the big news around here is the building of the new Edneyville elementary school. D-in-love works here it is where my kids went to school and where all my grandkids will go so I am thankful they are getting a new school which is supposed to open next August. They officially broke ground today but the site is already almost completely graded and ready to start building.

All the kids got to go to the ceremony as the officials used golden shovels to signify the start of building. The kids all had on matching t-shirts and sung some songs for the occasion.

This has been a really good month but it flew past as usual. Hubbie and I started the month off with a wonderful trip with #2 son and Tif to Montana and Yellowstone . I have been very busy baking for market as August is one of my busiest months. Both g-daughters started coming here full time as their mom's went back to work at schools so hubbie and I and the kids have had to adjust to new schedules.
G-son made the middle school soccer team and had to get used to practicing every day for 2 hours then had to make the adjustment to starting middle school which seems to have been pretty smooth.
This month has seen the weather go from fall like coolness and heavy rains to above average heat and dry with a couple severe thunder and lightening storms thrown in. There has been no tropical activity at all this entire month which is strange.
Daughter and son-in-love have their new house site ready for their house as they got the grading done, septic installed, well drilled and footings dug this month.
Tif got a new 4-runner this month as her love for that vehicle was aroused when we drove one while we were in Montana as our rental vehicle.
We are thankful for a good month and are looking forward to a slow down in September to get ready for a new season.
Thankful for all the blessings of this day .
God Bless and Good Night.

BOARD MEETING AND VBS IN 2008

Up to fix g-son his waffles and syrup and listen to him recap yesterday's game. His happy chatter was a complete turn around from yesterday morning.
After he and daughter left I did chores while hubbie gave IR a waffle for her breakfast.
We got ready and got things loaded for market.
Connie and Tommy, IR's other grandparents were waiting to pick her up when we got to market.
Connie had installed her car seat in the wrong position so hubbie had to help change it around before they left with her.
I got set up and had a good selling day once again thankfully.
Hubbie went and picked up some more no parking signs for the market parking lot and then helped put them all up. It was 1:00 before he finished so he made his dump / recycle run and picked up a sub sandwich for us for lunch. He now has to help haul some of the things I bring since I have 2 car seats in my backseat now so he had to come to market anyway.
He left going to run my banking and PO errands and stop at Sam's Club on his way home.
Daughter is picking up IR from Connie and bringing her here at 3:30  to hubbie while she goes to a meeting at school until about 5:30.
We had our monthly Curb market board meeting after market and it lasted until 4:45 but we got a lot of things discussed and made some important decision.
I had to stop at Aldi and Walmart on the way home for baking supplies for tomorrow. It was almost 6:30 when I got here and the rain storm that I had heard while I was in Walmart had passed through here leaving 1/2 inch of rain in the gauge and still some thunder in the distance.
I did chores and then had some more soup for supper with pimento cheese and chips.
It is really muggy outside this evening after the short rain storm and feels miserable.
My feet and back hurt from my long day and I am heading to a very early bedtime tonight.
I want to finish up the monthly decade pics tonight since I don't have any pics for this post. Back in August of 2008 I took g-son to his first year of Bible School at our church and he loved it.

Daughter came and helped on several nights.

D-in-love also helped on one night.

His 2 year old class and g-son was the smallest and not quite 2 years old yet but he had a wonderful first VBS year.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

BUSY BAKING and FIRST SOCCER GAME FOR G-SON

Up to greet a really grouchy g-son this morning. We decided his mom would bring him up here for his breakfast of waffles and syrup each day even when RL isn't coming, while he waited on daughter and IR to get here to ride to school with her.
He has his first soccer game today and he was really nervous so he was a grouchy bundle of complaining nerves this morning but he ate and daughter took him away to try and calm his fears.
I did chores while hubbie played with IR and then we had breakfast before I got my baking started.
I baked 12 caramel, 3 chocolate, 4 pound , 1 blackberry wine cake and 1 pan of brownies.
We had a late lunch of some soup I made in the pressure pot and then IR went down for a short nap.
While she slept I changed out all the furniture covers and bed clothes. I did some dusting and cleaned some glass around the house although it doesn't do much good to wash the little finger prints off the windows because I know she'll be watching out them as soon as she wakes up.
I did some laundry and then rested for a few minutes until IR woke up.
I thought about g-son all afternoon and wondered how he was doing. His first soccer game is in Macon County which is about 2 hours away. It is a long bus ride and hopefully the rain that was falling there when I listened to the news and weather at noon will have moved out before he gets there.
D-in-love is getting off work early and making the trip to the game.
He plays in what is called a pre-game which is designed for the 6th graders who won't see much action in the regular games so g-son played in that game and since it started at 4:00 d-in-love didn't make it to see him.
It was a beautiful afternoon for a soccer game.

She called after the game and said they tied the pre-game and won the regular game so they were all happy. G-son wanted to ride the bus back because they were stopping for pizza.
She said he had lost all his apprehension of the morning.
After g-daughter IR left hubbie and I did chores then I did weekly paperwork and paid bills.
I spent the rest of the evening icing cakes and getting ready for market.
Thankful for the many blessings of this day and for God's calming hand on g-son as he struggles with all the new adventures of middle school.
God Bless and Good Night

PARK PLAY DAY

I got up and fixed g-son 3 waffles with syrup this morning and he had almost all of them eaten before his aunt T arrived to drop off  IR and pick him up.
After they left RL wanted to go with me to do the chores this morning.
She found these pretty flowers blooming along the garden fence !!
We came back inside to have breakfast when we were done.
Both girls worked up good appetites running around outside in the early morning sunshine.
We decided to make a trip to Fletcher to pick up feed and stop at Fletcher park on the way and let them play since they slept through the park date yesterday.
I packed them a picnic lunch so they could eat and then go to sleep on the way home.  By leaving earlier in the morning they both stayed awake all the way to the park today.
RL enjoys these park play days so much, just look at that smile on her face.

IR isn't sure about the slides yet ….

But she sure loves to walk around and pick up anything she finds on the ground !!!

We walked along the creek to the bridge to do some exploring .

We found this nice shady picnic table to have lunch.

After we ate they wanted to go back to the playground for a little more playtime and then they were both asleep as soon as we left the parking lot.
We picked up our feed and headed home.
Hubbie carried RL into the bedroom and put her on the bed and closed the door so it would stay quiet in there and she took a good 2 hour nap.
IR on the other hand woke up as soon as we took her out of her carseat and would not go back to sleep after only a short 30 minute nap.
I played with her while hubbie went over to the barber shop and got a haircut then he took her outside while I changed out my sunflower décor of August to the apples of September.
After RL woke up the girls played together well this afternoon.
They both seem to have an instinct that tells them when it gets close to the time their moms are supposed to be here !!!!

When d-in-love came in she had a friends daughter with her and RL and her played in the playroom for an hour before they left to go pick up g-son from soccer practice.
Hubbie and I did chores then made a trip to Walmart to get baking supplies for tomorrow.
Thankful for the blessings of today and the joy that these little girls bring into our lives.
God Bless and Good Night
