GOOD BYE AUGUST 2018

This is the last day of August and I got up greeting all 3 kids this morning. Proud of g-son who is taking middle school in stride and says he likes it better than elementary school so far this first week.
After he left with daughter for school I did chores and then the 4 of us left here had breakfast together.
The girls are both acting like they don't feel good today, they are both just really tired from this first week of a new routine also I'm sure.
RL had a meet the teacher for her pre-school at 11:30. She is not nearly as excited this year about going to pre-school as she was last year so I am wondering what next Tuesday which will be her first day will bring.
We met her mom at the school and met her new teacher who is a very young lady . She saw a lot of her last years classmates there and played happily with them so maybe she will be easy to get back in the groove with these same kids. But she still refused to smile for a picture !!!
We came home and she was napping so hubbie carried her in and put her in her bed.
I gathered my baking supplies and started baking for the day after a quick lunch.
Hubbie took IR outside for a while to keep the house really quiet for RL to sleep.
I baked 12 caramel, 3 chocolate, 2 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies and was just turning off the ovens when daughter and d-in-love arrived to pick up the girls.
I rested for a few minutes then we did chores .
I spent the rest of the evening icing cakes and getting things ready for an early departure for market in the morning to beat the apple festival crowd downtown.
To end this month of August the big news around here is the building of the new Edneyville elementary school. D-in-love works here it is where my kids went to school and where all my grandkids will go so I am thankful they are getting a new school which is supposed to open next August. They officially broke ground today but the site is already almost completely graded and ready to start building.

All the kids got to go to the ceremony as the officials used golden shovels to signify the start of building. The kids all had on matching t-shirts and sung some songs for the occasion.

This has been a really good month but it flew past as usual. Hubbie and I started the month off with a wonderful trip with #2 son and Tif to Montana and Yellowstone . I have been very busy baking for market as August is one of my busiest months. Both g-daughters started coming here full time as their mom's went back to work at schools so hubbie and I and the kids have had to adjust to new schedules.
G-son made the middle school soccer team and had to get used to practicing every day for 2 hours then had to make the adjustment to starting middle school which seems to have been pretty smooth.
This month has seen the weather go from fall like coolness and heavy rains to above average heat and dry with a couple severe thunder and lightening storms thrown in. There has been no tropical activity at all this entire month which is strange.
Daughter and son-in-love have their new house site ready for their house as they got the grading done, septic installed, well drilled and footings dug this month.
Tif got a new 4-runner this month as her love for that vehicle was aroused when we drove one while we were in Montana as our rental vehicle.
We are thankful for a good month and are looking forward to a slow down in September to get ready for a new season.
Thankful for all the blessings of this day .
God Bless and Good Night.
