YEARLY MAMMOGRAM MAKES ME NERVOUS

This morning felt more like a warm spring morning than an almost winter morning !!
The low temperature this morning was 54 degrees!
Hubbie took g-son to pre school while I did chores and then we had breakfast before tackling our leaf raking duty.
We both kept saying we thought there were more leaves this year and there are still many still hanging on to the trees. We accomplished getting the closest ones to the house raked off into the woods , but more raking and blowing will be required to get the entire yard free of most of the leaf cover.
After we picked up g-son we stopped by Sam's and Walmart for things and then came home.
I put in an Avon order today and moved a couple more things around downstairs.
I had my yearly mammogram appointment this afternoon so as soon as d-in-love picked up g-son I headed to that.As you enter the center you go down this long hallway lined with pictures and experiences of cancer survivors and victims.

At the end of the hall is this beautiful hand quilted quilt.

A lady I know did my exam and she already told me she saw something in one of my breast. I just pray that it is the lypoma they already found a couple years ago. I know I'll dread hearing the phone ring in the morning.

Back in the dressing room this sign kind of jumped off the wall at me, and I definitely do believe in Angels !!!
Back home daughter had stopped by for her computer mouse that she forgot yesterday and a couple things she had asked for from Sams.
I did chores before dark and enjoyed another beautiful sunset.
It has been a nice sunny 70 degree day today.
I got started baking early tonight with a bunch of orders already for this week.
I baked 58 layers and a couple pound cakes.
As I listen to the news tonight they announced the winners for this year's gingerbread house competition. I've posted in the past about how the house has been lost but at least some of this years winners have somewhat of a house theme. The over all winner was this shoe house.
At least if your the little old lady that lived in a shoe and had so many children she didn't know what to do type this would qualify for a gingerbread house !
This one is more my idea of a gingerbread house.
Although I guess it's really a clock !!!
Of course there were all kinds of designs and creations from people from all over the country who came to Asheville to compete at the Grove Park Inn.

Asking God for comfort if that phone call comes in the morning and thanking Him for the blessings of this day.
Good Night and God Bless.

CLOUDY SUNDAY

A huge swing in temperature set this morning's low at 42 degrees, 20 degrees higher than just yesterday morning. What they say about weather here in these mountains is surely true, "if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes and it will change" .
Had a nice service at church today. I surprised a couple who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday with a caramel cake this morning.
After church we had lunch with everyone but d-in-love who is working.
We tried the smoked pork chops I had gotten at the meat market and they were sure good.
After lunch daughter and I with the help of #2 son got out my old bedroom suit so we could clean it up.

Head board
Dresser
chest of drawers
And foot board all were very dusty and needed a good cleaning.
Daughter used a strong cleaner and I came behind her and used a polish and scratch filler. We did create a strong smell as we worked for over an hour on all 4 pieces. She decided to leave them here for a few days to air out.
While we worked inside Hubbie was on the roof blowing leaves out of the gutters before the predicted rain gets here.
When we finished the furniture cleaning I helped her pack up some more things and hubbie went with her to take the lower element out of her oven to see if he can find a new one for it.
I stayed here and watched the basketball game between UNCA and UNC. UNCA built a new arena and since this is UNC coach Roy William's home he brought his #1 ranked Tar Heels up to help open the new facility. They played in front of a sell-out crowd. Daughter is an alumni from UNCA and could have gotten discount tickets but even they cost $50 each. So we will just watch on TV !!Coach Roy directs his point guard.

This looks like a beautiful arena, much nicer than the one #2 son played in when he was in college and played against UNCA and beat them when he was a freshman at Montreat College.
During the ball game I did chores and watched the gorgeous sunset this evening.
UNC Tar Heels won the game 91-75 but it was a very good game.
Today has been a cloudy day with a temperature of 57 degrees.
But clouds do make for colorful sunsets.Hubbie and I worked downstairs re-arranging some tonight before calling it a day I have to get my Avon orders posted.
God is good all the time , all the time God is good.
Good Night and God Bless.

SLOW MARKET AND 1991 DECADE PICTURES

BRRRRRR!!!!!, Coldest morning of the season so far at 22 degrees there was a lot of ice on the water buckets today.
G-son was awake and up with us early but was content to stay inside and have waffles while we did chores outside. He did want to go help let "Louie" the calf out in the pasture.
We made it to market only a few minutes late and had only one customer waiting on some drying sage.
G-son was a big help re-stacking my cake carrying crates. He and Pawpaw walked up to the library for a little while but a quite place is not where g-son wants to be for long.
When they got back to market Aunt T was there and the games began.
As you can tell by the empty market isle today was a very slow day but we had enough orders to be thankful for.
Daughter's first night in her house went well, except she forgot to turn her heat up and when her nose got icey she had to get up and turn it up from 60 to 68.
Her dishwasher is back working today and hubbie left going over to replace her shower head that sprayed water straight out instead of down last night.
#1 son came after g-son, he didn't get a deer this morning but his friend did.
After they left daughter and I chatted until closing time.
She went to look for some bathroom rugs and get some groceries and I came straight home.
I unloaded the van since hubbie is still working at daughters and had a snack.
Hubbie came home and we decided to rest for awhile as we are both tired. But our rest was short as #2 son called wanting to go ahead and move daughter's big heavy couch because he might play golf tomorrow. So he ,#1 son and hubbie loaded the couch in the truck and several other things in the van and we headed over to her house.
We moved the couch a couple times until she found the right spot then we left to get home to the chores which had to be done by flashlight.
#1 son was selling a backhoe bucket and hubbie had to get the tractor out to help load it.
About 8:00 we finally got to veg out a while in front of the TV. Then I got a call from sis-in-law to arrange our family Thanksgiving dinner next weekend.
She also gave me the news that her brother and his wife are expecting another baby next July.

The decade pictures for November 1991 sure bring back memories.

Hubbie and I were both Cub Scout officials with our two boys, 2nd and 3rd in line as they wait to present the flag at the PTO program. That skinny man in the tan boots walking toward the boys is hubbie.

This is #1 son in his 4th grade photo.

#2 son was in the 3rd grade that year.

And daughter was in 1st grade.

Each time I look at these pictures I can't believe that it has been 20 years since these pics were made.
It isn't suppose to be as cold tonight as it was last night and at 10:00 it is still 38 after a sunny day with temperatures reaching into the lower 60's.
With a few wispy clouds around this is sunset from the red light at the end of the road I live on.
We are building a fire in our down stairs wood stove every night now even with daughter gone because it still keeps the heat pump from running all night.
I am going to get to bed early tonight to rest up for another busy day tomorrow.
Grateful to God for His never ending love and comfort.
Good Night and God Bless.

ELEVEN, ELEVEN, ELEVEN @ ELEVEN

Well I hope the hype of this 11/11/2011 day comes true and miraculous things happen at 11:00 today, but only God makes miracles happen and He doesn't need a special date of a day to do it.
I'm sure today is the day for miracles from God for someone, as is everyday.
This is a special day in another very thankful way as it is Veterans Day. I prayerfully thank all the men and women who have served in the armed forces to protect our right for freedom in this country.
At the elementary school where daughter works they always have a large ceremony to celebrate the day. And yesterday was no exception, as the kids all waved flags and listened to veterans speak at the program.
They also always release white doves .
The temperature was in the upper 20's this morning with a pretty thick coat of ice on all the animal's water buckets.
Hubbie is off today as well as daughter so after chores and breakfast we all headed up to church to get that job done early so we could have the rest of the day to move most of her stuff.
We loaded my van ,hubbie's truck and daughter's jeep and made it over to her house just as the Direct TV man came to hook up her TV's.
We unloaded and I loaded the dishwasher with dishes she had bought while hubbie finished hooking up her guest bathroom sink and she arranged some things. She acted overwhelmed by the amount of stuff we had carried in just in one load.As we carried it in we put most of it in her extra bedroom .
It was a good thing we got her bedroom set together last night as the TV guy stayed there over 2 hours. She put her bedroom TV on this dresser and he had wires running all around in here as well as around the living room TV.
D-in-love came by and brought us all drinks from Mcdonalds to revive us for awhile.
We came home and loaded another load in all 3 vehicles. We did evening chores before we headed back over to unload.
She carried in clothes and I unboxed some dishes and things she had boxed up from when she lived in an apartment while going to college and she was surprised to see how many glasses and cups she had. I gave her a set of old dishes I had that came from Hubbie's grandmother.
I left to come home and bake some cakes for orders tomorrow and be here when g-son came as he is spending the night with us tonight. His mom has to work early on Saturday and his dad wants to go hunting early in the morning.
When I left hubbie was putting her desk together. This thing was in many pieces.

G-son came soon after I got here and hubbie came home shortly after. We are finished moving for the day, whew !!
I baked 2 coconut,1 chocolate,2 pound and 1 wine while g-son ate everything that wasn't nailed down in the house. He had went to a friends house for dinner and apparently played instead of eating.
He and hubbie showered and are already in bed. I have 2 coconuts to ice and I'm headed to soak for a while in a hot bath to hopefully eased my sore muscles so I can begin again tomorrow.
Thanking God for the strength He gives me each day and praying for His loving comforting hand on daughter tonight as she spends her first night in her own home.
And also tonight thanking all the men and women for their unfailing patriotism and bravery in keeping us safe in the this country.
Good Night and God Bless.

SLOW MARKET AND MOVING BEGINS

Whew the wind this morning will surely "blow your hat in the creek" as my daddy used to say.
As I unloaded and set up at market there were only just a few customers milling around.
It was a slow day ,but at least I got some things done.
I tied tags on all these cutter quilt and doily angels.

I have been out of these for quite awhile but after several request they are back !
You can also see the sage I bundled and hung to dry on the rack behind these angels.
I also made 7 towel angels from some Christmas towels I had previously bought.
After market I ran my regular errands, brrrrrr that wind is really making this 44 degree high temperature feel more like 24 !!
I picked up sveral things for daughter, especially in Walmart where they had some Black Friday deals already, such as hand mixers for $4 each. I also got her a phone system as they hooked up her phone and internet service today.
Hubbie got here about the same time I did and we unloaded and got everything put away just before chore time.
The wind is thankfully dying down some so maybe it will be easier on the outside animals tonight.
I man came after the free roosters I had this evening along with some older hens I have that have stopped laying. His church is having a heritage day Sunday and they were looking for fresh meat animals to cook.
Hubbie and I ate a light supper as we waited for daughter to get home from ordering her mattress' from the same place she bought her bedroom furniture.
They won't be here until next Friday so we will take her old set over there until her new ones get here.
The three of us went over to her house to finish cleaning and then we set up her dining room set and bedroom set. Now we only have a desk that needs to be put together tomorrow so the will leave most of the day for moving things.
I think she is both excited and apprehensive at the same time. But I know she will love it over there when she gets used to living alone.
I remember when I moved out and even though I didn't go as far away from home as she is it still took some getting used to.
We didn't get home until after 10 pm so my baking will have to wait until tomorrow night.
As soon as I finish this I'm going to take my weary body and put it in a hot bath tub and then in a warm bed as tonight it is supposed to get to 27 with the winds picking back up.
Thanking God tonight for the blessings of today and praying for His protection and Guidance for daughter as she begins the new season of her life.
Good Night and God Bless.

WOW WHAT A CREATOR !!!!

Woke with no phones ringing or places to be this morning. After chores I had breakfast and took a long walk.
It is peaceful and quiet this morning as I made my rounds around our pastures with camera in hand.Morning sun reflecting in the clear water of the creek.

Fall flowers.

First White-Throat Sparrow of the season.

I'm watching you !!

Just me and my shadow !!! Click on the photo to see each bird's head turned exactly the same way.

Almost missed this Red Bellied Woodpecker in flight.

Did better on this Pilated Woodpecker.

Mostly just enjoying the beautiful morning and God's beautiful creations today.
As I walked I thanked God for His wonderful world in which I live and thrive. Some days more than others I am totally awed by the intricate designs in nature and this morning was one of those days. Each bird is so differently designed and each flower and leaf of each tree or bush has an identity all it's own. Wow, what a loving creator !!!

As my walk ended I fell back into reality and the work of the day. I iced 6 caramel cakes before starting housework chores.
After lunch I made an Avon delivery and then stopped to check prices on mattress's for daughter, then at Ingles to pick up Bernie and Dolly some dog food.
I finished cleaning my floors and swept the leaves off the porches outside. It isn't quite as warm as it was yesterday and the clouds have already covered the sun but the temperature is still 63.
I already have customers at market asking for fresh sage so I cut sage this afternoon.I'll take it to market and bundle it and hang it out there to dry.
As I took care of evening chores I watched the clouds push the last rays of the sun over the horizon. The weather man said tonight that out of all these clouds we would get little if any rain.

I had a meeting tonight at church and my days of custodian work at church are coming to an end and I feel relieved.
With the other church using our facilities it is a good decision to hire a daytime custodian. It will be a 20-25 hour a week job. They offered me the job first but I said no and the other custodian also said he couldn't do it so they will have to hire outside. The plan is to have this in effect by the first of January.
I was going to the meeting to turn in my notice, but this worked out better. I just hope I don't have any more encounters with the other church bands before that date.
I had the opportunity to express my disappointment with how the bands are damaging the sanctuary and showing such little respect for the members of our church.
Hopefully there will be some good things come from the meeting.
I'm not sure how the other janitor felt about the change but he didn't seem to upset about the decision either. He has also had his scheduling conflicts.
As for me I've prayed that God would take this into His hand and do what was best for all concerned. I pray this is His will.
After the agonizing I've done over the last few months about things I have no power to do anything to improve, this is definitely a good move for my blood pressure!!
Daughter baked tonight and then her and hubbie went over to her house and set off bug bombs to rid her house of insects ,especially spiders, which she hates.
I iced a coconut cake tonight and called it a day.
God's blessings are everywhere if we only take time to look and listen.
Good Night and God Bless.

FOGGY START TO A BEAUTIFUL BUSY DAY

The sun is doing its best to break through the thick fog this morning.
I knew this could be a hectically busy day if everything that was supposed to happen happened. When the phone started ringing at 8 am I knew the business had started.
Lowes was calling early to say they would be at daughter's with her refrigerator between 9 and 10 am. As I passed our pasture the fog was trying to lift.
After that I started laundry then called the furniture warehouse and told them I would be there to pick up daughter's bedroom set in about an hour.
I went walking to have a little peaceful downtime already this morning.
To show how dry it has been around here, this is our farm pond.
As you can see there hasn't been much water in there for quite a long time.
These Cattails look thirsty.
Even though we've had enough rain to keep the grass green and the dead leaves damp we are still below normal for rainfall totals.
Hopefully we can get this pond cleaned out before the winter rains start.
Got daughter's furniture in the back of hubbie's pick-up and got 6 caramel cakes iced before lunch.
I did house cleaning between 5 loads of laundry and even took a vitamin D break in the nice warm 67 degree afternoon. Man that sunshine on my face felt good.
Back inside I finished housework and then started chores,it seems the afternoon and evening are one now and the sun is gone before 6 pm.
I helped daughter load up some old antique kitchen chairs that were stored in the barn.
They will need a good cleaning but we can do that over at her house.
I had Lentil soup for supper before going over to daughter's house to continue cleaning tonight. Hubbie and I worked with her until 8:30, then we came home. I got all four of the barn chairs cleaned up and shined with Murphy's Oil Soap, they look very good.
She got some bad news tonight when #2 son called and said he is going to have to work Friday. So it looks like it will be the three of us moving her Friday.
I iced 6 more caramel cakes tonight when we got home.
As I gazed up at the moon tonight I noticed a bright star just below the moon. Hubbie said it was Jupitor, not a star. This is an over exposed photo I took with my new camera.
This is a graph I found on the internet of the waxing moon and the planet Jupitor.

Star gazing is one of my favorite pass times.

God is awesome !!! If you doubt it, just look up !!!!

Good Night and God Bless.
