NO NAP TUESDAY

Just me and g-daughter this morning at 7am looking for something to occupy ourselves until chore time and sleep is not on g-daughter's list !!!
She watched TV while I did chores and then we had breakfast. She refused a 10:00 nap and an 11:00 nap and finally slept for about 20 minutes at noon.
I did housework between rocking her trying to get her to sleep.
Lunch time around here can get very interesting some days !!!
She followed me around after lunch in her walker in all the places she could squeeze the walker into!
Her afternoon followed her morning and she did not want to take a nap for some reason.
After the floors were all mopped we headed outside to play bubbles until mom got here to pick her up.

She loves this game !!!!  Can't believe she is this happy after just 20 minutes of sleep today !
After d-in-love left with her I relaxed for awhile knowing hubbie would be late getting home because he stopped by daughter's to spray weed killer on some of her property.
I was doing the chores when he came home.
He brought me a cutting of some Spiderwort flower she had and we planted that in the rich soil below the hen lot.
As I had supper tonight I admired these smile invoking sunflowers that are still looking so fresh.
It is a cool evening after a low 80's breezy sunny day the temperature is dipping into the upper 50's tonight with a drop in the jet stream that is allowing cooler air to drop into our area through mid week.
Grateful for the blessings of today.
God Bless and Good Night.

JUST A MONDAY !!

Monday mornings are always pretty easy for me as hubbie is off on Mondays and gets up to meet g-daughter and bring her back to bed.
This morning she wanted nothing to do with going back to sleep so he got up with her leaving me to get some extra sleep.
When I got up they were in the kitchen , he was frying eggs and she was eating waffle bits he gave her.
I did chores and then came inside and fixed her applesauce and cereal for breakfast and hubbie fed her while I ate my breakfast.
We played for a few minutes until she got tired and ready for her morning nap.
While she slept this morning hubbie and I took the portable monitor and went to do some late plantings in the garden.
I planted okra , spaghetti squash and acorn squash while hubbie worked on a raised bed row to plant some sweet potato plants he had bought just to try them one more time.
We tried growing sweet potatoes once before and they didn't do well . He wanted to try this raised row method to see what happens. I don't think our soil is right for sweet potatoes but we will see what happens.
When g-daughter woke up I came inside and started the weekly 3 loads of laundry. She was content to watch cartoons and bounce while I worked.
After lunch I took her outside in the stroller for a while until she got tired.
During her afternoon nap I did some housework while hubbie mowed the lawn.
Daughter came by after she got out of school and played with g-daughter after she woke up for a while. She is wanting to walk !!
D-in-love was late getting here this evening due to a bus driver not showing up this afternoon and the principle worried because that was not like her to just be a no show. The principle and another office worker went to the bus driver's house and found her very disoriented and needing an ambulance. D-in-love stayed at school and took care of things there while they were gone. It's good to know that there is that much concern for workers at this school. That's why I love living where we live.  Compassion is a dying emotion in alot of places but thankfully not around here.
After she left with g-daughter the rain from the outer bands of tropical storm Colin reached our area after a totally cloudy day. We got 3/10ths inch of rain in about 30 minutes as one of the bands blew through our area.

After the rain we did chores then rested for the evening.
I am still having trouble with my new I-phone 6 . Today all my incoming calls started going straight to voice mail without any notification to me once again and nothing that had worked to stop this before would work to fix it today.  I called Verizon and they walked me through resetting all the settings on the phone to see if this would help. I don't have much hope this fix will last as I have done this before and it last for a little while then the phone goes back to the same old thing with my calls. I may switch to US Cellular if they don't give me a new phone for this dud if this happens again.
I also called today and made blood draw and annual physical appointments for later this month.
I am very thankful for the blessings of this day and for the wonderful love of Jesus Christ my Savior.
God Bless and Good Night

GRADUATION SUNDAY AND A WEDDING SHOWER BBQ

Well I was right about that nap yesterday and was still awake after 2am this morning.
I slept in a little this morning and then did chores and got ready for church. I put hubbie and I some thin steaks in the pressure cooker to have after  church. We aren't  having a family lunch today because we are going to Josh's parents property in Green Creek,NC for a wedding shower and BBQ this afternoon.
Church was touching today as we celebrated our graduates. This is the total graduating class from our church this year, 6 from North High, 2 from West High, 1 from East High and 2 college graduates.

They called them up one by one and presented them with this little devotion book.

This is a pic of the North High graduates as they get ready to begin this next phase of their lives.
We came home after the service and had our quick lunch then waited for daughter to finish her part at the high school Baccalaureate service for this year's class. I am proud that this high school is the only one in the county that still has this God based service for the graduates.
Daughter is a sponser of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the school and made a short speech at the service today.
Josh brought her here as soon as she finished and we picked up #1 son's family and headed south.
Josh's parents bought a piece of land in Green Creek to build their future home on once they sell the house they live in now.
On the property there is an old barn that is still in very good shape. They have worked to fix it up and it looked really good.
The kids had a blast playing together and g-son loved driving this "police car" around the yard.
He took g-daughter for a ride and she loved it !!!

G-daughter loved playing with Addie.
The food was wonderful and the fellowship awesome, the weather was perfect and all of this made for a very nice evening with soon to be family. They had a money tree and a few gifts that they decided to open after they got home.

G-daughter was just plain happy to be there !!!
We reluctantly left about 7:00 to get home before dark and get the chores done.
All the animals were very glad to see us, haha.
It started sprinkling rain here just as we started out to do the chores but it didn't amount to much.
Hubbie and I are both wiped out again tonight and ready for an early bedtime. I think we are still suffering from the heat exhaustion of yesterday as today was a nicer cooler day in the mid 70's and cloudy.
In other news today the third tropical storm of the season was named today and is going to drench northern Florida as it moves over it and out to sea.

Grateful to God for a wonderful blessed Sunday and prayers for daughter and Josh as they get ready to begin a life together.
God Bless and Good Night.

A HOT OLD TIMEY DAY

Up at the regular 7am hour this Saturday morning to get to market early for our spring time Old Timey day.
When we arrived at 8:15 the parking lot was almost full already so that is a good sign for today's business. Hubbie carried all my baked goods in and then went outside to help cook the ham and sausage on the old wood cookstoves. That's him in the tan t-shirt hard at work.

My cousin's band, The Old Time Pickers, provided the music for the event.
There was a long line for the old fashioned cooked ham and sausage biscuits.
There were some old vehicles on display.

And the local 4-H provided a petting zoo with this nice young Tennessee Walker which brought back memories for me as we used to have a Tennessee Walker for daughter to ride when she was young.

The business outside was much better than the business inside for a while this morning.
We had several book authors set up and also had "Tonto", Jay Silversteen's son who recently moved to the area and frequents the market regularly set up with a memorbilia display from the Lone Ranger and Tonto TV series . I had my picture made with him before the crowds moved inside to get away from the heat.
I also had a friend of mine set up a display on the vacant tables beside me. Virginia Thompson is part Cherokee Indian and is known to local school children as "Black Feather" the story teller.
She was able to mesmerize the kids that came through market today with how some of the old Indian toys worked.
I enjoyed catching up with Virginia, who has been a friend of mine for many years between customers.
These two are also long time friends and this old apron was made by my mother for Terry's mom, Veena, years ago. She also had the bonnet that matched the apron that mom made when she used to go to market.
This is a really pretty time at market with all the fresh cut flowers and plants.
I had a very good sales day today even in the extreme heat. The temperature was near 90 degrees today and it was very hot inside market wiping me totally out by the time I got packed up and left.
I stopped at Sav Mor and Aldi on the way home for baking supplies for next week and then came home to unload and crash for the afternoon. I felt completely exhausted and like I could have slept for days. I did sleep for an hour so tonight I will probably be staring at the ceiling until the wee hours but I had to have the re-boot of energy this afternoon.
The evening was very cloudy but the rain held off supposedly until about midnight when a front comes through our area.
Got a gift from Russel Lyda the sunflower grower at market of this beautiful bouquet of sunflowers that just make me smile each time I look at them.  Thanks Russ !!
Also going on in this hot weather today was g-son's last soccer game of the season. Here he is after the game all red faced but happy with his medal and a cupcake snack.
Little sister didn't make it through the game !!!
Thanks to Memaw,(other g-ma) for the pics !
God is always at work in everyday and in every way if we only open our hearts and invite Him in.
Thankful for another blessed day.
God Bless and Good Night.

ACEING THE EOG'S

There was no going back to sleep for g-daughter this morning so we got the day started early. Expecting to come back inside from doing chores finding her sleeping in the entertainment saucer didn't happen today as she was bouncing happily to the cartoon music on TV.
We had breakfast then went on our morning walk. It is a sunny warm day but feeling already humid this morning.
Back inside she was finally ready for a bottle and a nap.
While she slept I read my devotions then started my baking. I baked 6 caramel, 3 chocolate, 4 pound and 1 blackberry wine cake. G-daughter woke up before I got finished so she played in her walker in the kitchen. She is cleaning off the dog food shelf for me , haha !!!

Nothing is going to be safe around this curious little girl !!!
After we had lunch we sat outside for a few minutes before the clouds took over the sky.
Annie is always on guard at the back door !
Just about the time I heard distant thunder g-daughter started pulling her ear which is her way of saying she is sleepy.
We came inside and she had her afternoon bottle and went down for her long nap. While she napped the thunder got louder but I didn't see any lightening flashes. I did some kitchen cleaning and re-arranged some clothes while she slept.
I rested out in the sunroom with a hot cup of tea watching the first thunder storm move off to the south of our area.
Since g-daughter was still asleep when school was over d-in-love took g-son and Haley to Kilwins to get some celebratory chocolates to celebrate their passing EOG scores for the year. Way to go kids !
Even in the rain they posed with the Kilwin's bear !!
After g-daughter woke up we sat out on the front porch and watch the second storm come our way. The rain started slowly but picked up and the thunder grew pretty close but it didn't seem to bother g-daughter.
When d-in-love got here she said it was pouring rain in town but thankfully we only had 1/2inch from this storm as it passed.
They left and hubbie and I watched the news then did the chores just as the rain stopped.
I spent the evening icing cakes and getting ready for market's Old Timey Day tomorrow.
Thankfully the predictions for rain is later in the day so it looks like it will be a clear morning.
Thankful to God for the blessings of this day and for loving me.
God Bless and Good Night.

SLOW MARKET, EGG BANDIT CAUGHT

G-daughter arrived this morning and fell right back to sleep as hubbie, who is taking the day off from work, layed her between us in bed.
When the alarm sounded at 8 we all got up and got ready for market.
The day is already warm and humid so I'm thinking there will be storms this afternoon as I grabbed a rain jacket on my way out the door.
After we got set up hubbie left to run a couple errands and then come home to work in the garden .
G-daughter was back to her old self today, playing and talking with everyone. Sales were pretty slow today but I am thankful for what I did sell.
We left market and ran our errands then stopped at Aldi and Walmart for baking supplies and groceries. G-daughter is so good on these market days. She took a couple short 30-45 minute naps at market, then she sleeps through banking and PO and when we get to Aldi she wakes up smiling and helps me shop !!!  She then goes back to sleep as soon as she gets back in her car seat and sleeps until we get to Walmart, which is a very short drive, then I ask her if she is ready to wake up and shop some more and she opens her eyes and smiles !!!   What a little treasure she is !!!!
When we got home hubbie helped us unload and put things away. Then the three of us played in the living room until d-in-love got here.
She had an errand to run with g-daughter so g-son stayed with us. As I was fixing him something to eat hubbie came running in and headed for his gun cabinet saying "my snake" was in the hen house eating eggs again.
I gave g-son his food and headed up to see if it was still there while he loaded the gun. I grabbed a garden hoe just in case it was trying to escape.
Hubbie shot the snake from its perch over the door where the bird nest that had gotten knocked down had been. Hubbie said he looked in the hen's nest at 1:00 and there were eggs now there wasn't any eggs anywhere so this 4-5 foot black rat snake had cleaned all the eggs out again.
I hope he (or she) enjoyed their last meal of eggs !!!
We  don't like to kill these harmless snakes but when they invade the chicken houses they always loose !!  This is a pretty big snake, very capable of eating baby chicks as well as eggs.
While I was feeding the chickens it started to pour rain trapping me and the dogs in the garden / feed shed for about 10 minutes until the storm passed. When I checked the gauge there was about 2/10ths inch from this downpour.
D-in-love came after g-son and hubbie and I had supper of some sauteed fresh turnips, zuchinni and yellow squash I bought today at market.
Yum , I love all fresh vegetables suppers in summer time .
We relaxed for the evening listening to the distant thunder but our area got no more rain.
Grateful to God for the blessings of the day.
God Bless and Good Night

BEAUTIFUL FIRST DAY OF JUNE 2016

G-daughter was still out of sorts this morning as she didn't want to go back to sleep but acted really sleepy. Finally at 7:40 I put her in her entertainment saucer and went out to do the chores.
When I came back inside she was fast asleep once again in the saucer !!!  I lifted her up and put her in her crib. 15 minutes later she was awake. I wish she didn't look so uncomfortable in the saucer and could just sleep there. She has a stuffy nose and probably would sleep better with her head up today.
After she got up she had breakfast and then was content to play for a little while until I got the last sewing item I had cut out sewed up. This large bonnet is really pretty in this quilt pattern.
G-daughter had her morning bottle about 10:30 and went straight to sleep afterward.
While she slept I baked 2 pound cakes and went to the garden to gather some spinach and onions for lunch.
It is a beautiful morning with bright sunshine and mid 70's temps .
The Buttercups in the upper pasture are back in full bloom after hubbie bush hogged last week.
This Oak Leaf Hydrangea is now in full bloom with the recent rain.
I ate a leisurely lunch of turkey breast pressured in the pressure pot and spinach and onion salad.
After a nice restful 3 hour nap g-daughter woke up feeling much better.
We went outside to enjoy the nice day before the clouds moved in and brought what looked like a sure thunder storm but lucky for us it went to the south of our area. She loves the outdoors !!!

D-in-loved called on her way home to check on g-daughter and when I told her she was trying to go back to sleep she said to let her and she would go home and take a nap herself after the past couple sleepless nights with g-daughter  not sleeping well she was very tired herself.
G-daughter was very glad to go along with the plan and was fast asleep as soon as I cuddled her in my arms with her pacifier.
I caught up my blog book reading and did some quiet thinking while she slept. I don't feel really great today either but I think I am tired from over doing it a bit yesterday with all the cleaning.
When hubbie came in from work g-daughter woke up and they played until d-in-love came after her about 5:45. She acted like she felt fine this evening but still had a runny nose and nasty cough.
Hubbie and I did chores and watched the news. The clouds finally blew out of our area without any rain for us today. They are saying probably overnight we will get rain.
June starts out pretty normally in the temperature range and 3.37 inches short of rain .

As I did May's month ending paperwork tonight I still am really below what my sales usually are in years past. But at least sales are gradually getting better each month. At least May is in the books early this time. All the weekly paperwork and bill paying got done also before it got dark enough to shut up the chickens so I am way ahead tonight and looking for an early bedtime to revive my draggy feelings.
It didn't take long to get things ready for market and not having any cakes to ice seemed really strange but the week after a holiday weekend is always very slow.
Our old timey day is this Saturday so I hope that will be a good sales day to start the month.
I praise God for the blessings of this day and pray that g-daughter get better quickly of whatever is bothering her.  My prayers are also with my friend/beautician tonight as she lost her mother this morning as she passed away at Hospice house, may God comfort you Markeeta in this loss.
God Bless and Good Night.
