THE LORD'S SUPPER REMEMBERED

Up and out on this market morning to get chores done and get to market on time today with several orders to be picked up.
I had a good day today with everyone getting ready for Easter dinners. This means a lot of baking going on tonight and tomorrow with only one oven.
The good news is between customers today I searched on the net for double ovens and came across a place in Chesnee SC that sells scratch and dent appliances and they happen to have a Kitchen aide double oven just like I need and at a very good price. I wish we could get down there tomorrow but with my baking schedule we will have to wait until Monday so hopefully  the oven will still be there.
Thankful for a good sales day today.
After I left market I went out to the Johnson's fruit stand and then to Ingles and Aldi for baking supplies and groceries. I also stopped at a carwash and sprayed all the pollen off my Honda. Now it's back silver instead of that yucky green color  at least for this evening !!!
When I got home I unloaded and put everything away . I sat on the porch until Candy M came after a cake she had ordered and then Re brought the kids by to play for a few minutes with Pumpkin .
Hubbie and I followed them home to check out their goat lot they have built this week. We said good bye to the kids for the week as they are traveling to Ohio tomorrow. Aa is staying home to take care of all the animals and work.
4 years old going on 16 !!!!!

We came back home and did chores for the evening.
Earlier today d-in-love sent these pics of g-son receiving his AB honor roll and perfect attendance awards at school.

He looks proud and we are very proud of him !!
This has been another mid 70's day with bright sunshine until late this evening when some dark clouds rolled in. Maybe we will get a shower of rain overnight as we need rain again already with all the hot sunshine and wind of the last several days.
A very special day is celebrated today as this is Maundy Thursday, the day of the Lord's Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of all His disiples and served them the last meal they would have with him.  He also let them know that He knew He was going to be betrayed by one of them.
Thankful today for the wondrous love of  The Father who willingly sent His one and only Son to die for the sins of mankind.
God Bless and Good Night

SPY WEDNESDAY AND 1967 MEMORIES

Dolly the 4-legged kid needed an extra early potty break this morning so I decided to stay up and get an early start on my day.
After chores and breakfast I took a nice walk in the warm sunshine. It is another beautiful day.
These Lilacs outside my back door are one of the nicer things about spring with their amazing aromatic blossoms.
After my walk I had a hot cup of green tea with my devotions. Reading the Bible in the mornings seems to give my day a serene calm start.
I started baking for the day, 6 caramel, 1 pound, 2 blackberry wine and a pan of brownies. I tried out my broken oven by turning the temp to 185 degrees but it still heated too hot ????  And to make matters worse the lower oven started getting too hot on my last run of cakes in there . I'm hoping maybe it got overheated because I had to run it so long.
I have located a couple double ovens that I may go look at next week but they are all about 3 hours away.
After a late lunch I cleaned house and then even had time for a nice vitamin D break out in the sunshine. It actually was hot out there this evening with the temp pushing 80 degrees.
When hubbie came in from work we unhooked the Direct TV box from the living room TV. We canceled our service after our 1 year discount year ran out yesterday. We just don't watch enough TV to pay a big price for Direct TV. We were impressed that our smart TV picked up 13 channels without even hooking up the antennae hubby bought. After we hooked it up we got 15 channels and by switching windows we can get a few more really clearly so we are happy with free TV !!!
After chores I did weekly paperwork and then we watched Survivor on TV and I finished out the evening icing cakes and getting things ready for market.
Back in April of 1967 I was in 7th grade and we had spring pictures taken that month.
This is me .....
This is a good friend of mine all through elementary school, Janet Justus.
My youngest brother also celebrated his 6th birthday that year on the 1st day of April.

Thankful for another blessing filled day and pray that the Lord walks with me in my struggle to be the person He would have me be.
As this "Spy" Wednesday passes let us be reminded of the great love of Jesus as He knew before Judas betrayed Him that it was going to happen and yet He treated Judas no different than any other.
Humbly grateful.......
God Bless and Good Night

GARDENING ON THIS BEAUTIFUL HOLY TUESDAY

G-daughter arrived a little after 7am this morning and we got our day started with breakfast before play school. She was a happy girl today walking in to her classroom all smiles with hello hugs for all the teachers. I love how she loves this little playtime with the other kids.
I came home and did chores and then had a second cup of coffee with my devotions.
I took a walk in the nice already 60's temps.
Spring is always so pretty even the greens are beautiful after the dreary browns and grays of winter.

Spring also brings new life...........
After my walk I headed back into town to pick up g-daughter. Traffic was horrific around town today for some reason. We finally made our way out of town and on the country roads to get home.
Of course she went to sleep as soon as we started moving !!
She slept while I ate lunch and got some baking started. I decided since I only have one working oven more baking time will be necessary. While she finished her nap and then had her lunch was a perfect time to get 4 pound cakes done in the lower oven. Just for curiosity I preheated the upper oven to 250 degrees to see if that would cook a pan of brownies without burning them. It did but only because I watched closely and took them out after only 10 minutes. Guess I will need to lower the temp even more.
G-daughter played in the kitchen while the cakes finished and then we headed outside to do whatever she wanted for a while.
Swinging was the first on the list ....  Pure happiness ......

She also loves to play on this little slide set.

After d-in-love picked her up I sat out in the covered patio until hubbie came in from work. The predicted rain fall for today did not come and only these few fluffy white clouds were floating by this afternoon.

We planted out early root crops today as the new moon is tonight and the sign for the day Virgo is a fertile sign so the timing should be perfect. We planted potatoes, onions, radishes and turnips today.

We were amazed at how hard the ground is already after all the heavy rains we have had recently. Hubbie had a hard time hanging on to the rototiller at times.
We had a successful planting day and now we sit back and pray for the right amount of rain and sunshine to make our garden grow !!
Tired tonight a good hot bath and early bedtime sounds ridiculously good !!
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the greatest gift ever !!!
On this Holy Week Tuesday I admire the wisdom Jesus showed in the face of all his doubters.
God Bless and Good Night

HOLY MONDAY

G-daughter arrived a little after 7am to get this week off to a busy start.
After chores and breakfast we got a call from daughter telling us they had changed her new washer and dryer arrival time instead of later this afternoon to this morning between 10:00 and noon.
Hubbie went over to her house to wait for them to get there leaving g-daughter and me her to get the weekly laundry started.
She made the trips up and down the basement stairs happily with those short little legs and I knew she was getting very tired. She finally reached up for me and layed her head on my shoulder. I sat down with her in the rocker to watch the noon news cast and she went to sleep quickly .
Hubbie made it home about 12:30 with the installation complete at daughters. He ate his lunch then took g-daughter while I ate my lunch.
She only slept an hour then she had her lunch of green beans and oranges !!
After all the laundry was finished we rode into town to check out the double oven deals. The 50% of sale at Sears ended Saturday night . But I really don't want to deal with Sears again anyway. And as I read more reviews about all the ovens they sell having the same problems as mine and the same complaints that I have that their repair people have no idea how to fix these problems it just makes me even more surer I don't want to deal with them anymore. However that eliminates any Frigidare ovens because that's who makes the Kenmore ovens that Sears sells.
I am in a bind and have no idea what I'm going to do yet. I'm just thankful that at least I still have one oven that is working somewhat !!
G-daughter liked to ride in the buggy and look all around at the pretty blooming flowers as we also checked out some patio stones we are thinking about putting down in our back yard.
In the mall the Easter bunny called her over but she acted like she was not impressed at all by this big furry bunny !!!  She didn't act scared just uninterested !!!
As we drove home the apple orchards are really putting on a beautiful show right now around the area. Thankfully the cold weather doesn't seem to have hampered the blooms.
We came home and played with g-daughter until her mom came after her.
Today is the last day of the "waxing" moon since tomorrow is the "full" moon and by the Old Farmers Almanac gardening calendar all above ground vegetables need to be planted during the "waxing" moon so we planted out lettuce and Kale greens tonight to get a start on our early garden this year.
If it doesn't rain too much we are hoping to get the potatoes and onions and other root crops in later in the week on the "waning" moon phase.
After chores we watched the news then I did paperwork tonight to catch some things up and then searched on the internet for oven prices. We may have to make a trip out of state to buy an oven !
Thankful for the blessings of this beautiful day and for the greatest gift of all as this Holy week continues as Jesus entered the temple.
God Bless and Good Night

PALM SUNDAY EGG HUNT

We celebrated Palm Sunday this year at church with our choir presenting their Easter music program which was very touching. #1 son filled in for someone in the nursery and d-in-love played violin in the program so g-son sat with hubbie and I. He and hubbie appear to be transfixed by the program.
Then he wanted a pic of he and I with him working the phone !!
We came home for a lunch of roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and biscuits. #1 son's family and Aa and the kids ate with us today.
After we ate I went over to Aa's and stayed with the kids while they napped so that Aa could go pick up 6 goats he bought. He bought a mama and 2 babies, a teenage nanny goat and 2 bucks. They are really nice goats and the babies are sooooo cute !!!
I came home and hubbie helped me fix a separate pen for the red rooster I have and a hen friend for him.
Then I headed up to church to go to the Easter egg hunt with EL and BB. They had a puppet show first that the kids enjoyed and then it was on to the lawn and all the eggs.
BB got into the egg hunt this year !!!
EL was like a streak running around filling her bucket.
She was proud of her haul....

So was BB .....
When all the eggs were picked up we all went inside to have cupcakes, drinks and open all the eggs to see what surprises were inside.

It was a fun time for everyone and what a beautiful day the Lord gave us to have this activity on.
The sun was really warm and my arms are actually sunburned a little tonight from being outside all afternoon with short sleeves on.
I came home to more chicken moving as I broke the only egg the little black Silkie had under her that didn't feel like it had a chick in it and when I broke it I was definitely right about that as it was just a stinky powdery rotten egg !!!  After turning her back out into the lot with the other Silkies I moved the red Silkie who only hatched 1 Silkie chick out of the dozen eggs she went through the really cold nights with into that smaller box. In the big box where she had been I put up a divider that hubbie made last year and put two more white setters in there with 6 eggs each under them. That means I now have 4 hens setting on eggs . Maybe my setting luck will change as this has not been a good year for hatching chicks so far with the up and down temperatures.
I was out until after dark doing all this moving and then came inside to work on the computer a bit to search for the best deal on a double oven. I guess tomorrow I will see if Lowes will meet Sears deal on an oven. I really don't want to deal with Sears again because of the lousy service they give on their products so hopefully Lowes will match the price.
Thankful for this Palm Sunday and for the love of our precious Lord who set in motion the sacrifice of His one and only Son on this day to save man kind from all our sins and give us a pathway for eternal salvation.
God Bless and Good Night

GOOD MARKET SATURDAY

Up and out to get the chores done and get off to market today. It is 38 degrees this morning but thankfully the wind has died so it doesn't feel so bad with the sunshine.
Market was good today . I had one customer who bought 4 caramel, 1 1/2 pound cakes so that made for a good day with all the other things I sold also. Maybe things are going to pick up early this year !
After market I made supplies stops at Aldi and Ingles on the way home. I got here about 3:00 . Hubbie was finishing the mowing after replacing the broken belt on the mower so I unloaded and got things put away .
I rested until these two littles came to stay with me while their mom made some pictures for a friends family.

After they left Hubbie came in from helping #1 son with more sheet rock in his upstairs and we did the evening chores.
I spent some time on the porch this evening enjoying the bright beautiful colors of the blooming Azaleas around the porch.

I threw together a separation cage for one of the roosters in the big hen lot as they are starting to fight and both had bloody heads this evening. I will put a few hens in with him after I add a little more fencing to the lot I made for him.
It was after dark when I finished this but the almost full bright moon lit  up the outside almost like daylight  tonight.
Thankful for the blessings of this day .
God Bless and Good Night

FRIDAY VISITOR

My breakfast partner today.

BB came early to spend the morning with me while mom made a weekend trip to Ohio.  He hasn't forgotten where anything is in the months he has been away !!!
And he hauled it all into the kitchen to entertain himself while I baked my cakes this morning. I baked 6 caramel, 3 chocolate, 5 pound  and 1 blackberry wine cake plus 2 pans of brownies. Even with close watching my upper oven ruined 2 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies by overheating once a gain. I am going to have to buy a new oven to get through this baking season.
This little guy riding this tricycle around the kitchen brought back memories of g-son about 8 years ago doing the same thing !!!

Around noon a friend of Re's who is home schooling her kids and had taken EL to a class she was teaching this morning came by to pick up BB so he could spend the afternoon with her and her kids.
I had lunch then finished baking using only the lower oven which of course took twice the time.
After I was finished I rested until hubbie got home from work then we watched the news and did chores.
It has been a very nice but cool day with highs only in the upper 40's and a brisk wind blowing all day.
I had a nagging head ache all afternoon I'm guessing from the burnt food smell from the oven this morning.
I iced cakes tonight then headed for an early bedtime.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and the love of a wonderful Savior.
God Bless and Good Night
