DAY 5 OF OAK ISLAND VACATION 2017

Woke to the first clouds of the week today.
Actually I think everyone was ready for a reason to do something different today so we all headed for Southport after breakfast.

I love this small old waterfront town and all its little shops and restaurants. Looking across the water at our house and the Oak Island light house.

This is my favorite place to shop and today I found some Christmas gifts and some special treats for the kids.
I even visited Santa's bedroom !!! Okay I'm ready for Christmas !!!!
There is a huge candy shoppe in the Christmas House here which made these two very happy.

We ate lunch at a place called "The Frying Pan" which was very good and reasonably priced.

This was the view from our table.
G-daughter R was not impressed with the photographer waitress.

All along this waterfront was where the movie "Safe Haven" from the book by Nicholas Sparks was filmed.
We tried to catch the ferry over to Fort Fisher but were too late for the 1:30 schedule and decided with the kids at their nap time couldn't wait until the 2:15 departure.
We all came home and were pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the sun.

Daughter, g-daughter I and I went for a walk while everyone else rested and napped .When we walked up to the Fort Caswell beach we found this huge cross made in the sand.
We saw lots of fish jumping in the waves and decided to fish some.
My fishing buddy !!!!!  Definitely not as cute as g-daughter I !!!
Hubbie came out and fished with us but none of us caught anything. It was as if the jumping fish were mocking us !!
We came inside and everyone else was up and ready for some beach fun.
Family of Four !!!
Pawpaw and 2 of his grands.
Fun in the water !!!

Checking out the turtle nest. One of the "turtle watchers" told me yesterday that this cool temperature weather has delayed most of the hatches.
Watchful eyes !!!
I'm tired too but nobody would carry me home !!!!
These two have such a great time with each other !

Daughter and g-son went after pizza tonight for a light supper after our big lunch.
We relaxed for the evening and watched Safe Haven since we were at the spot where it was filmed this morning. We saw a lot of familiar sites.
With rain back in the forecast for tomorrow we are hoping to catch the early ferry to Fort Fisher tomorrow morning for another new adventure.
Thankful for the loving care of my precious Savior Jesus Christ and for the blessings I receive each day.
God Bless and Good Night

DAY 4 OF OAK ISLAND VACATION 2017

Another beautiful morning at the beach.I love these three soooo much !!!

After breakfast we headed for the beach with son-in-love, daughter, #1 son and g-son.  G-daughter R stayed behind with d-in-love to play in her little pool on the deck.
G-son got everyone in the ocean to play this morning as the waves were much bigger today from the tropical storm Emily that is passing off the coast .

G-daughter I acts like she is liking it more each day.

Son-in-love went after lunch at Mcdonalds and we all came inside to eat. Then it was back to the beach for hubbie, me, daughter, son-in-love and g-daughter I. We took g-daughter's little swing out there and she relaxed in it for a while.
G-son is digging for gold out here.

#1 son and g-son went to the grocery store to get supplies for a low country boil son was making for supper tonight. They all came to the beach when he got back.
G-daughter R loves to run down the beach and have Pawpaw chase after her.

Everyone went in the house except daughter, d-in-love and me and we had a relaxing time in the shade of the canopy just watching the waves break.
The meal son prepared was delicious and everyone enjoyed it very much.

I made a blueberry cobbler for dessert and it was very good also.
Daughter, son-in-love , g-daughter I went walking on the beach to watch a gorgeous sunset this evening.

The turtle hatch watchers were out in numbers at several nest tonight.

When we got back son and hubbie were fishing. The colorful sky was beautiful tonight.
This is one of the most beautiful photographs I have ever taken. Look at those colors !!!!!

I got to reel in one of son's fish while he reeled in his other rod. This fish was just a baby but at least he was catching something.
A quiet night spent with family once again to end another wonderful day at the beach.
Thankful to God tonight for blessing me with his grace and love each day.
God Bless and Good Night

DAY THREE AT OAK ISLAND 2017

Up to another cool sunny morning, certainly couldn't have asked for better weather so far while we are at the beach. It has been full sunshine and low to mid 80's with a pretty good breeze off the ocean.
After breakfast we headed for the beach. D-in-love had some work to do for school so we took the kids out for awhile.

G-daughter R loved for her dad to bury her in the sand.

Just before noon g-daughter got ready for her nap since she has been up going strong since 7am today.

I took her inside to her mom and then we all stayed out for awhile to let her get to sleep before we all went in to have lunch.
After lunch it was back to the beach for hubbie, me, Josh, daughter, #1 son and g-son.
Daughter and I decided to walk back to the end of the island today and hubbie went along as he had never been that far and he wanted to see the Cape Fear river entrance. The big cargo ships come in and out of this river each day.

The tide was a bit higher today and made walking tougher but we made it and back with daughter carrying little g-daughter I in her shoulder carrier.
Everyone else met us as we walked back down the beach and we found "Mr. Crabs" as g-daughter R called this little sand crab that was sitting on the beach.

D-in-love and g-son went to an early movie this evening and the rest of us stayed on the beach until supper time.
G-daughter is fun to watch exploring the beach and discovering all the fun things to do.

Tonight hubbie, me and #1 son stayed home and took care of the two girls while d-in-love and g-son were at the movie and Josh and daughter went to have a quiet dinner in Southport.
G-daughter I turned 6 weeks old today and d-in-love found this little bathing suit that matches one she bought for g-daughter R.

Thankful for another family filled day at the beach and for the love of these grandkids.
I am a very blessed Neena !!
God Bless and Good Night.
