RECORD BREAKING TEMPERATURES

A busy Thursday morning getting all the kids fed and getting things ready for market along with all the regular chores.
After I dropped RL off I worried about her as she surely acted like she didn't feel very good this morning.
I met hubbie and IR at market and we got things all set up. I had a bank appointment at 10:00 to get the market account set up in my name since I am the new treasurer. Thankfully I got to work with Rhonderia , daughter's best friend growing up and who I have always called my other daughter.
She has worked her way up through the bank and is now over the business department at this bank.
Anyway it took about an hour to get everything changed over. The new secretary for the board wasn't able to come with me today as she had to manage market in our sick managers place. I got signature papers for her and that will be all taken care of once I return the papers to Rhonderia.
Back at the market IR's other g-ma, Connie had picked her up and hubbie was manning our table. It was another very slow sales day even with the nice weather. I am out without a jacket this morning for the first time in a very long time.
Hubbie went to the dump and picked up a sub sandwich for our lunch then he left to stop by Sam's Club and get home to split some firewood.
I finished out the day and then made stops at the bank, Aldi and Big Lots to pick up groceries ,baking supplies and a baby shower gift for a couple at church who are having a shower Sunday.
On the way home I met hubbie and daughter at daughter's house. Seems there was an omitted inspection that stopped her from getting the CO today as she had hoped. So the omitted inspection is set for either tomorrow or Monday. Hopefully they get there tomorrow.
Hubbie dropped g-son who was with daughter off at his house and I brought IR here with me while daughter went on the basketball practice.
We got the Honda unloaded and got things put away then IR and I stayed inside while hubbie did his chores.
I got my chores done and then walked down to the storage shed to get my market table Valentine decorations out and up here so I won't forget them Saturday morning.
Hubbie and I at supper then we both collapsed. Neither of us know why we are so very tired tonight but seems both of us are pretty sapped of any energy and it isn't Friday yet !!!!!
Another winter storm was named today as Maya entered the northwestern coast and is headed across the country as a significant storm in the next several days right on the heels of
Our high temperatures today both for the overnight low and the high today broke records.
There were a lot of temperature records that fell today across the state.
We are getting back to more winter temps starting tomorrow unfortunately .

Thankful for the blessings of this day.

JONQUILS BLOOM IN FEBRUARY

Up to an even warmer morning today, wow this is going to be hard to leave behind after about one more day.
I got RL to pre-school and did some grocery and baking supply shopping at Ingles on the way home.
I had breakfast then got my baking supplies out and baked 3 caramel, 2 chocolate, 2 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies while IR and hubbie were outside playing with the dogs.
When they came back inside IR went down for an early nap. While she napped hubbie went back outside to work and I did my ironing and some housecleaning.
RL's other g-ma, Deb picked her up today to spend the afternoon with her.
After IR woke up we all had lunch then she wanted to go outside to play in the beautiful sunshiny 71 degree afternoon.
I did my monthly paperwork from the Curb market and was very disappointed in my earnings to start this year but at least I finished in the black instead of the red like I have some years in January. But when you see a $130 profit for the entire month it will be hard to get enthused about getting things made to sell.
Hubbie met daughter and #1 son over at her house at 5:00 for the final walk through with the contractor. They found several little things but nothing major that son thought the inspector would not pass for the final certificate of occupancy on. That inspection is supposed to be tomorrow so hopefully they will be able to move in this weekend.
Hubbie took IR with him when he went over so that I could get my chores done and it gave me time for a walk which I have been trying to get back into each evening.
Look what this warm sunshine has brought out. Jonquils blooming in the second week of February has got to be a rare sight.

I came back inside and did the weekly paperwork then started icing my cakes.
Hubbie came home shortly after and said everything looked good at their house and #1 son had done a great job with the final grading.
I finished getting things ready for market and went to bed as I am still not sleeping great and feel very tired tonight.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

MORE PARK FUN ON ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY

Another beautiful warm morning to wake up to in February . Before I did anything else this morning I filled my ancestry tube with spit to have my DNA checked. The kids got me this kit for my birthday and I am just now getting around to sending it in.  Wow, that was a lot of spitting !!!!
I got chores done while the girls had breakfast. I took RL to pre-school, she didn't want to go today for some reason and said her tummy was hurting. Hopefully she will be fine once she gets settled in and playing with her friends.
I came home and had breakfast then got yesterday's laundry started. IR was in a good mood this morning and played by herself for a long time while hubbie painted a board for daughter and son-in-love to put their house numbers on.
We left a little early to pick up RL so IR could get a longer nap in and went to wash my Honda. I must have a bird that is flying over my car each morning while pooping in the same place because my windshield has been splattered the last two mornings ????
After we picked up RL we went through the drive thru at Burger King and took their lunch to a new park. We have never been to the East Flat Rock park before but it is better suited for smaller kids and it had swings which was a delight to RL.
The girls had fun on the new play things.

RL is a very social child and it didn't take her long to make a couple friends more her age and size to play with and they had a ball and one of the other grandmothers told them stories while they bounced.

They played until 2:00 as hard as they could go and totally wore themselves out in the heat of the sunny 66 degree afternoon.
We came home but no naps even with the very tired girls. After a short rest inside and some re-energizing snacks we headed back outside to play in the yard.
D-in-love picked up RL and hubbie rocked IR to sleep before we took turns getting chores done this afternoon. The hens are really kicking in their egg laying talents in this warm weather.

Son-in-love picked IR up around 6:30 and then I finished up the laundry and hubbie and I watched a basketball game between UNC / NC State which UNC ran away with.
I got my cholesterol results back today and they are amazing. I will be buying more of the Nature's Purest Cholest Factors supplements and continue taking them. I weigh more now than I did in October when the results were higher and haven't really done anything to reduce my cholesterol except take this supplement. It is pretty pricey but it must work so it is worth the cost. My total Cholesterol in October was 229 and yesterday it was 194 !!!!!!!!
The winter storm season is really kicking into high gear now with another "L" storm already named today following the "k" storm from earlier in the week. Lucian is burying the upper mid west in snow followed by the coldest temps of the season in some places.
We are thankful that this one will only bring us chances of rain in our very mild temps.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

PARK PLAY DAY

Monday morning rolls around way too early most weeks. As I dragged out of bed this morning and got this week started. I got chores done then grabbed a cup of black coffee as RL and I headed out the door to pre-school.
After I dropped her off I headed over to Asheville to my doctor's office for some follow up bloodwork. My cholesterol was a little high back in October so she gave me the name of some pretty pricey supplements to take to bring it down so I am very curious to see if they worked or not.
I will definitely give a follow up report on the results as soon as I get them.
My appointment was at 9:45 and I had a pretty long wait on a Monday morning so it took about 30 minutes for them to take one little vial of blood from my arm.
I got home at 10:45 and had some breakfast. I had taken a protein bar with me to help fend off a headache.
We decided to take the girls to the park after we picked up RL so I called Re to meet us there with BB after she picked him up from his pre-school.
We brought them a picnic lunch to have before they played.
They ate and then had so much fun playing together on the playground.

They all wore out about 1:30 and we headed home. RL went to sleep on the way home and took a good nap while IR and I had a snack and watched cartoons in the kitchen.
After RL woke up we took the girls outside in this nice sunny 65 degree afternoon.
There they go off on the one of many adventures !!!!
We decided to put them to work helping clear the sticks out of the garden and they thought that job was so much fun. Rosie wanted to help also !!

We were still outside playing when d-in-love got here.  G-son had went to Lowe's with daughter to do all the heavy lifting on some things she was getting for her house like a mailbox and post.
When they got here d-in-love took g-son and RL home and daughter went to her basketball practice leaving IR here. Once the house emptied out she conked out for a nap.
Hubbie and I took turns getting our chores done this evening. While I was finishing up late raindrops started falling and I looked up to see this rainbow rising in the sky.
The coloring was really pretty this evening as the sun and rain collided right at sunset.
It didn't rain much at all thankfully .
I came inside and we watched the news on TV. Son-in-love picked up IR after she woke from her nap and they went home.
We've got our fingers crossed that this weekend will be moving weekend for them into their new home.
After the house was empty I realized this was Monday and usually my laundry day and I have not done any laundry today. I gathered the laundry and carried it down stairs so it will be ready to get done tomorrow.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

RESTFUL SUNDAY

Beautiful warm Sunday morning to wake up to .  After 2 nasty weather Sunday mornings and 1 in the nursery it will be good to get back into church today. I got chores done and then hubbie shredded several chicken breast that had cooked in the crock pot all night while I cooked some rice and put on corn on the cob to cook . We put the rice and chicken back in the crock pot and got ready for church.
Church was good today and we had a special prayer time for one of our members family member who is a young 28 year old mother who seems to be loosing her battle with stomach cancer. Sarah has been a courageous fighter for over a year and I pray for comfort for her family if this is the time God chooses to call her home and away from her suffering here on earth.
We came home for lunch with d-in-love, RL, G-son, Nicholas (g-son's friend), Aa and his kids, #2 son and Tif.   #1 son is working today at daughter's place since the time is running out for finishing things over there  and Re worked last night and is sleeping.
After lunch Aa took his kids home for a nap and the rest of us went over to daughter's house to check out the paint job and the flooring. We didn't stay long because there were people there cleaning up.
The contractor was also there and said he was thankful they were going to have a nice weather week to get things finished hopefully so they can start moving in this weekend.
Hubbie and I came home and sat outside in the outside patio. I have a new sitting partner and Rosie is turning into a perfect match for us and our farm.
We sat outside until it got so cool it ran us inside as the sun started down.
Hubbie and I got chores done and I took a walk before I came inside.
Daughter ,son-in-love and IR spent the weekend at Great Wolf Lodge this weekend with a couple son-in-love's brothers and their families and IR liked the water but not getting in the pools, just running around in it.

Thankful for traveling mercies for them as they made it back home this afternoon.
Hubbie and I relaxed for the evening.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the love of Jesus Christ.
God Bless and Good Night

GROUND HOG DAY 2019

A seemingly early alarm after a pretty restless night of sleep. I was afraid that long nap yesterday would mess up my night's sleep and I was right as I lay looking at the ceiling until after 2am this morning.
I got chores done and enjoyed not having to break hard ice on the water pans this morning only a thin coating .
The sun is shining so there is no doubt that the local groundhog will definitely see her shadow today and hunker down for 6 more weeks of winter weather.

We made it to market on time and got set up before any customers showed up.  Between selling and getting the new board appointment info from the past treasurer and getting the new secretary taking my place some info I had a busy day.
I had a good selling day also as the weather today is beautiful for a winter day with bright sunshine and low 60's temps.
I made a stop at Walgreens on the way home to pick up some mouthwash and a couple other things that I keep forgetting to get.
When I got home hubbie was out in the upper pasture cutting up some of the trees in his wood pile so I unloaded and put things away myself.
I sat down for a few minutes and had a hot cup of green tea.
After a short rest I went outside to take a walk and let Rosie run loose for a while. She is such a smart dog hopefully it won't be long until she can stay out of her kennel and roam freely. I need to get her a tag and also get her a spaying appointment this next week.
I got my chores done while hubbie grilled some steaks I found in the freezer plus some asparagus for our supper.
There is a new winter storm named today as Kai hopefully is going to stay north of our area.

Our week is supposed to be a brief at least reprieve from winter .
Getting to bed early tonight to try and catch up my sleep.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

WARM SUNNY DAY A WELCOME RELIEF

Hubbie came in before my alarm went off holding up a set of keys to ask if they were #1 son's house keys. In my sleepy shaken grog I said yes.  He came back up a little later with daughter and all the grandkids saying I was wrong the keys didn't fit son's house. Then more awake I remembered what they did fit. Anyway d-in-love had locked her car keys inside her house when she went out to bring the kids up here and go to work so daughter picked up the kids and brought them here and d-in-love was having to wait until #1 son came from work and unlocked her house.
Daughter and g-son left for school and hubbie fed the girls breakfast while I got chores done. It is 25 degrees this morning so I will go back to getting the chores done before I take RL to pre-school.
I came back home and had my breakfast then hubbie, IR and I went outside to play and let Rosie run around and get more used to the place off leash.
She and Rocky are really wanting to get together but with him taking off like he does on occasion we aren't ready to let them loose together just yet.
And of course this little slider was happy she got an excuse to come outside !!!

We came inside at lunch time and we all had a good lunch before taking a rest break. Our rest break turned into a long nap for all three of us. Hubbie has been fighting a head cold all week and I haven't been sleeping well either with his coughing waking me and IR got up at 6am today so we all needed that nap.
Daughter brought g-son here after school today as she took some of her basketball team for milkshakes before their game tonight.
D-in-love picked him up on her way home from work.
Hubbie and I took turns getting chores done this evening. The nice sunny 55 degree afternoon has surely been a welcome relief from the last couple days.
Son-in-love and daughter came in about the same time to pick up IR and then RL called begging to come up and play for a few minutes with IR so #1 son came up and brought her.  He needed to talk to son-in-love and daughter about some work on their house anyway so they stayed until about 8:00.
The girls had a great time playing while they talked.
Hubbie and I got things ready for market and spent the evening relaxing. I am just hoping my nap didn't ruin my sleep tonight.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night
