DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS

Surprised by sunshine streaming in through the bedroom windows when I woke up this morning.
It is 27 degrees and very windy this morning but the sun sure looks good.

I got chores done and got ready for market.
Market was really slow as expected. Son-in-love came in and met daughter and the girls there also.
Sales picked up a little and I am very grateful for all I did sell.
Hubbie left with daughter's family and I stayed until market closed.
I stopped at Ingles for cabbage to go with the brisket we are having for lunch tomorrow on my way home.
We got things unloaded and hubbie and I spent the still cold and windy afternoon watching some basketball games.
I got chores done and found this little girl snuck under a shelf with 5 Silkie eggs under her so I put her in an enclosed brooder box and added a couple green eggs to her stash and made her happy that she could keep all her eggs.

I wasn't expecting any of the Silkie hens to start setting yet. In the last couple years that I have been wintering the Silkies in the old green house none of the hens have made an attempt at setting until I moved them back into their regular lot. But this girl had her mind made up to set. She tried a couple weeks ago and I kept getting the eggs out from under her because she was sitting on the regular nest where all the hens lay their eggs. I guess she was outsmarting me when she snuck out to a hidden spot and talked some of her friends into laying their eggs there also. I guess she deserves to try and hatch some chicks after all her effort. Hopefully the weather won't get really cold anymore.
It has been a really relaxed evening and we have just watched more basketball and rested tonight.
A good rest day before the time change tonight where we set the clocks up and hour and loose an hour of sleep. This week is shaping up to be a challenging one !!!!

The "wash your hands" comment is because of the coronavirus that is spreading around the world right now.

SNOW FLURRY FRIDAY

Up to a routine Friday morning with all the kids here.
After getting g-son and RL to their schools I had breakfast and then did some housework while hubbie entertained IR and CA.
CA isn't feeling great this morning but has no fever so maybe she is just cutting another tooth.
IR entertained herself playing school and watching the snow flurries outside.

CA went down for a nap just before it was time to pick up RL so hubbie stayed home with her while IR went with me to pick her up.
We came straight home and had lunch.
It was another lazy inside afternoon with snow flurries all afternoon.

The girls had to find inside entertainment for what seems like the 1000th day so far this winter.

After the girls were picked up hubbie and I got chores done and settled in for a cold wintery evening.
I didn't bake anything today as I expect market to be very slow tomorrow because of the weather.

SLOW RAINY MARKET DAY

Up to get this busy Thursday market day morning going. Hubbie took g-son to school while I got breakfast for RL and IR with CA watching.
I got chores done and got ready for market when he got back. We are always running a little late on these days.
I took RL and IR to pre-school this morning and then met hubbie and CA at market. Market was as I expected very slow today. The rain is holding of this morning but it is cold and breezy.
CA had a good time playing in the pack and play I have at market for her.

She is such a happy child !!!
I picked up IR from pre-school and went through the drive thru at McDonalds for lunch for her and hubbie.
IR was very hungry today and ate her order of fries on the way back to market.
She ate very good and then got to play with Sue the market manager and some of the other vendors while CA napped.
We packed up and left at closing time and IR wanted to go with me to the bank, the PO, and Ingles and CA went with hubbie to the dump / recycle center, Tractor Supply and the 4x4 country to get chainsaw chains then they picked up g-son on the way home as his track practice was canceled because a cold rain was now coming down pretty hard.
IR went to sleep on our way home so she slept through getting unloaded and then napped in the recliner until her mom picked her up.
Hubbie and I got chores done then ate supper and relaxed for the evening.
The rain moved out pretty quickly this evening leaving only 2/10ths inch in the gauge for today's total.

ERRAND DAY

Up to get g-son and RL only to their schools this morning. Connie is coming to stay with IR and CA today.
Hubbie took g-son to school and I got chores done here then hubbie went with me to take RL to her pre-school.
After we dropped her off we went to Aldi and Sam's Club for weekly groceries and supplies.
We came home and got everything put away at about 11 am so we headed over to Hickory Nut Gap Farms to stock up on fresh meat.  I love coming here and really enjoy the beautiful drive.
When we got home we had lunch then hubbie took the old washer and some other metal things he had been collecting to the metal collector and then went to the tractor parts place for an oil filter for his tractor.
While he was gone I baked 1 pound cake and a pan of brownies. Market will be slow again tomorrow as rain and wind is predicted.
The rain here started about mid afternoon and continued on and off all afternoon and evening leaving about 9/10ths inch in the gauge.
I spent the rainy afternoon going through pics and getting out decade pictures for February and March. I had forgotten to do any decade pics for February so if you are interested in seeing them I am making a post at the end of the month with all of them in it.
I also got out some old Edneyville school news articles and other things for a collage d-in-love is making for display at the new school.
After chores we had supper and then I got things ready for market and did the weekly paperwork as well as the end of the month figures for February which are low as usual for this time of year.

RAINY SUPER TUESDAY

Rain started falling just as I went out to get the morning chores done. Hubbie saw this big double rainbow over g-son's middle and daughter's high school when he dropped g-son off.

I took RL and IR to pre-school this morning. They both complained on the drive this morning but no tears. Hopefully they aren't getting sick.
I came home and had breakfast then we headed up to our church which is our district's voting place and cast our vote.

 While CA napped I changed the furniture covers in the living room and put away all the February Valentine décor. I didn't get much décor out as it was time to go pick up the girls by the time I got all the furniture vacuumed and the clean covers on.
Both girls were happy when I picked them up and glad we were heading to McDonalds for lunch.
The girls ate well and we had company for lunch as my cousin Mike stopped there for his lunch also.
We headed home in the still falling rain and spent the afternoon inside playing.
The girls were both kind of out of sorts all afternoon once again . Maybe they just need some rest.
Hubbie rode with daughter to pick up a little 4-wheeler for IR to ride from one of her high school class mates.
I watched the early news and then went out to get the chores done. Thankfully the rain stopped earlier this afternoon after leaving us with 9/10ths inch for the day.
We came inside and watched the UNC / Wake Forest basketball game which UNC won.
CA got to go back to the vote again tonight with IR as her mom and dad cast their votes.

Hope everyone exercised their voting rights today.
We relaxed for the rest of the evening.

CLOUDY MONDAY

This first Monday in March was a cloudy but no rain day. A spider web kept setting off the Ring security camera this morning starting about 5:30 so I had the opportunity to watch the sunrise on camera and hopefully compare some of these images to what daylight savings time will look like after next weekend.   This first image is at 5:30 am this morning.

The sun didn't last long at all before the clouds took over the entire sky.

We got the kids to school and got chores done on our regular routine today .

I came home and got laundry started in my new washer which was great. Not having to spend time babysitting the spin cycle was really nice.

Hubbie, IR and CA went with me to pick up RL. When I drove the Honda to the curb market last Saturday through the snow and ice on the heavily salted roads the honda was white with salt so I wanted to run it through a carwash . RL and IR do not like being inside the suv while going through the wash so hubbie stood outside with them while CA who was sleeping stayed in the suv with me.

We left there and stopped at Ingles.  The girls are out of cereal for their morning breakfast and wanted to pick out their own. So we all went inside to let them do that and get some fruit they wanted.

The clouds looked really strange when we got back out of the store.

 We came home and all had lunch then the girls played the afternoon away.
After they were picked up hubbie and I got chores done with still no rain. Hubbie hauled a few loads of firewood he had split into the dry shed.
#1 son brought RL back up here tonight so she could have a bowl of the new cereal for her supper.
Hubbie and I relaxed for the evening and went to bed early as it seems Mondays always wear us out.

MARCH COMES IN LIKE A NICE SUNNY WARM LAMB and HAPPY #37 TO #2 SON

A different Sunday morning today as we woke to the beginning of a new month with a sunny warm day.

We aren't going to church today due to the delivery at some point today of my new washing machine.
We got chores done and then had a leisurely breakfast while planning our Sunday lunch. I got the meatloaf started while hubbie boiled a dozen eggs for deviling. We also put whole potatoes in the oven with the meatloaf to bake.
About 10:45 the Lowe's delivery guy called and said they would be here between 11:30 and 12:30.
We were expecting a 2 hour notice so we had to scramble to get the old washer all unhooked and get it out of the basement. Hubbie had to take the laundry room door off to make it wide enough to get the old washer through it and we are crossing our fingers the new washer isn't any wider.
We could bring it in another way but it would have to be lifted over the stairs.
They came at noon and they were very professional and quick at getting the washer into it's place and thankfully it did fit through the door way. We didn't buy new hoses so they couldn't hook it up. We will do that later.
We came back upstairs and finished getting the eggs, green beans, corn and biscuits ready for lunch.
#1 son and family and #2 son and Tif were our lunch guest today.
Daughter's family has gone to a circus and BB is sick so Aa's family stayed home.
After we ate hubbie and I headed over to Fletcher park to meet up with daughter's family as they left the circus early after having some fun riding ponies and getting their faces painted.

D-in-love and her kids also met us at the park.The kids had fun and we got to get some walking in for our exercise.

We came home and had an early supper with daughter's family and then got outside chores done.
I did some yard work before the rain begins again tomorrow and we came inside and got my washer all hooked up and ready to go tomorrow.
We had a nice relaxing Sunday evening.
Happy 37th birthday to my #2 son, hope he has a wonderful afternoon after he left here at lunch.

March surely came in like a lamb today with this beautiful spring feeling day, guess we'll see what kind of lion she goes out like ???
