COOLER WEATHER AND 1991 DECADE MEMORIES

Almost late for church this morning,no real reason, just moving slow for some reason.
#2 son and d-in-love had nursery duty but daughter took d-in-love's place so she could play a solo on her violin.
After church we had #2 son and daughter for a quick lunch or cornbeef and cabbage before meeting with daughter's realtor.
We only went one place to look at things and that was a gated condo community just out the road from us and very close to the school where daughter works. This was the pick of the day because of it's location, but we feel it is over priced so we'll see what happens. There are 30 homes in this development for sale right now so I feel these prices should be really negotiable but of course the realtor didn't think so !!!!
When these were first built they sold for under 100,000,that was in the early 2000's then the price spiked to over 150,000 so now it is back down but probably the owners are the ones that bought when the price was high. The realtor lady did say 110,000 might buy this one,I am more thinking 100,000. Like I said we'll see and daughter needs to look around more since today was the first time looking at anything.
The weather today is 20 degrees cooler than it has been for the last several days and it makes it feel like winter is making a return with the cloudy skies and breeze.
The air is thick with humidity but no rain has fallen and we are not expecting any.

In 1991 we had a busy March as we had two birthday parties to plan.#2 son's 8th birthday is on the 1st day of March. Can you tell he was a Ninja Turtle's fan !On the 26th of March 1991 daughter turned 6 years old. I can't tell what is on her cake but I'm sure she picked it out.

Wow, where has 20 years gone ???????

Under direction of our President our troops are bombing the country of Libya today,I just wonder how many places we can start a war with before we lose one??????

Praying tonight that God watch over all this craziness that is going on in the world right now.

Good Night and God Bless.

HISTORIC PERIGEE SUPER MOON TONIGHT

This morning down town their was a march of the Leprechauns to kick off today's St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
At our market we had green punch and St.Patrick's day cookies for our customers. I took in my punch bowl for them to use, they poured ginger ale over lime sherbert and it was delicious, I drank my share and the shortbread cookies weren't bad either.
I had a decent day of sales today with all the extra people in town.

Hubbie left market to go watch g-son's first base ball game and it didn't go so well, there was a lot of crying and not wanting to get out of the dug out. There was a playground right next to the ball field and being a typical 4 year old that's where he wanted to be.

When I got home from market Hubbie was plowing and discing the garden. It was another sunny 75 degree day but there was thunder in the distance and D-in-love said it was raining where she was making pictures and daughter went to a friends to pick up a bread starter and she said it poured the rain there also ,but we stayed dry all evening.
#1 son left g-son here while he did yard work around his house and he enjoyed playing on the slide this evening. Here I come, you better watch out !!!!!!

After Hubbie finished the garden we made a trip to Sam's Club for some groceries and something for supper tonight and lunch tomorrow as I forgot to go by the meat market this past week.
Daughter has a college room mate visiting her this week end and she is having supper with us tonight.
M has been like a daughter to me since she and daughter went to college together. She used to come along on our week long beach trips and has been here from time to time.
She lives and works in Greensboro as an accountant and just finishing getting her master's degree. She is just like one of the family.
After supper tonight we all had a very nice visit with her.It looks like daylight outside with the huge perigee full supermoon. The moon is closer to the earth tonight than it has been since March 1993 . There was scary predictions of massive floods and earth quakes and all kinds of severe weather because of the positioning of the moon tonight. Scientist dismissed it as unfounded but after the evening of strong storms just south of us I'm sure many people are tempted to believe the scary predictions. In South Carolina just south of where I am they had all kinds of nasty weather this evening. No this isn't snow it's hail !!That's a lot of hail !!!!!

I didn't sleep well at all last night,I think it was to hot,the temperature was predicted to be in the 40's and it stayed in the upper 50's all night.
I'm tired tonight and looking forward to a soak in the tub to relax.

Thankful for my blessings of today.
Good Night and God Bless.

SUMMER LIKE DAY FULL OF OUTSIDE FUN

An almost summer like day this morning.
After chores I headed up to church to work for a while.
The Straightway band is giving a concert Saturday night and are setting up and practicing today so they are going to clean up Saturday night after the concert so today I'm just doing things that need to be done before the concert.
On my way back home I stopped by an Avon customer and dropped off her order from several campaigns ago. It was late because since it came in she lost her husband from cancer. About a year ago he was diagnosed with throat cancer and began treatments which were initially very successful but then he became very sick from them and had to stop so that gave the cancer a leg up and he never recovered. He died last Saturday.
She is doing remarkably well and is planning on staying down here with her sister who is 87 but is in very good health. All her kids are in Erie, Penn and I thought she would be going back up there but she said no she did not want to burden them and felt like this was her home now,at least for the time her sister has left.
After lunch g-son came to spend the afternoon and he watched TV while I baked a couple more cakes for orders received this morning and iced the caramels and chocolates.
Then it was outside for the afternoon, he loves it outside.
The other day I posted pictures of spring growth, today I want to post the many faces of spring..........

In case you are wondering who took the last two pictures of me,it was g-son ,after one quick lesson on my Fuji point and shoot. He also took the two below,he may have found his talent !

Unbelievably centering his subjects !!!
While he had my small camera I had my Cannon and I noticed this guy peering out of the branches at us.
These Brown Headed Cowbirds migrate through here each spring and I always hope they move through fast enough to not cause much trouble to my nesting songbirds.
He is joined by Mrs. Cowbird at the feeder.
These birds don't build their own nest but invade other bird's nest and lay their eggs leaving them for the other birds to care for and they hatch in a shorter term than most other birds so that causes confusion and a lot of unhatched songbird eggs.
They are nice to look at but I hope they migrate on to their more northern range soon.

We've had an almost record breaking warm day today 82 degrees. Wow ! kinda makes me wonder what July and August will bring if it's 82 in March !!!!
But I have to admit it is sooooooo nice to get out in that warm sunshine and soak it up.

Tuned into the March madness tonight of the NCAA tournament to watch UNC win their first game.
Put a few more pictures into albums tonight,I am hopeful to get this job done this month.

Grateful to God tonight for a blessing filled day and ever faithful to be His servant.
Good night and God Bless.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY 2011

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY !!!!!!
My g-son wanted to know when Spongebob's day was since this is Patrick's day ????????

Up early to start a busy day. It is beautiful and warm this morning after a cold start.
After chores I went in to start my book work when #1 son buzzed up in the yard to use the bathroom, his power is out again as they are back working on the pole again this morning.
I worked on paying bills and weekly paperwork all morning.
After lunch I headed out to meet an Avon customer to drop off her order, then to the vet's office to pick up heart worm pills for Flash (#2 son's basset) and drops for Dolly's eyes.
I ran my regular errands ,making a couple empty Avon stops as the customers weren't there and picking up baking supplies and groceries. I made it home about 5:00.
Checked on #2 son who is home from work again today, he is getting better thankfully.
The temperature got to 70 degrees today,so nice,I just hope it isn't completely fooling us!

The news from Japan keeps getting worse, coupled with the very real threat of nuclear reactor meltdowns and fast spreading radiation the weather has turned nasty with cold temperatures and snow.
This is double bad as it hampers rescue efforts plus makes it harder for any survivors still trapped in the rubble to stay warm. Earlier this week they found a 4 month old baby still alive and healthy crying deep within the rubble and pulled it to safety.
These people need our prayers desperately. They pride themselves in being a strong people but this is forcing many to their breaking point.

Everything gets repeatedly scanned for elevated radiation levels.

There is a mass exodus of people leaving the entire country of Japan. The lines at the airports are days long even in cities that are far away from the effected areas as the people no longer feel a safe distance away from the radiation cloud.
The United States is putting up extra radiation detectors along the west coast and in our off shore properties but are not expecting unhealthy radiation levels to reach this far.
People are making a run on potassium/iodine pills, but are being warned not to take them unless it becomes an emergency situation because the side effects of these can be gruesome. I will put my faith in God ,not pills and pray.

As I gazed up at the beautiful full moon tonight after finishing chores I thought about how lucky I am to go inside my warm comfortable house tonight with plenty of food and water and sit down in the lighted room and know that my family are safe.
The sobbering thought that at any moment of any day a disaster can take our normal lives and flip them totally upside down just as it dad in Japan is a cause to drop to our knees in thankful prayers for each day of normalcy we live.

Good Night and God Bless.

SIGNS OF SPRING BURSTING OUT EVERYWHERE

Ahhhhh!!!!! Feeling much better this morning, thank you Lord !!!

Have you ever gotten woke up out of a sound sleep by a loud noise during the night?
Well about 1:30 this morning I woke to a loud bump, bump, bump sound. I got up and came into the living room after laying there and listening for a few minutes. I stood in the darkness of the living room, looked out the window down toward the road, seeing nothing but a very foggy night and hearing nothing else I went back to bed deciding it must have been the heat pump cutting off that made a noise. The sight of these guys this morning gave me the idea that what I heard wasn't the heat pump ! I couldn't see this part of the road last night from the living room window.
I called down to #2 son's house, he has been home from work sick the last 2 days, to ask him what was going on. He confirmed my suspicions, a car hit the neighbors fence post and landed against this power pole at 1:30 this morning. No one was hurt and the 4 occupants jumped and ran leaving the car. #2 son said he didn't feel well so he went back to sleep but the car was gone this morning and the power people were there replacing the pole.

I spent the morning cleaning my floors and while they dried I got a chance in the warm 60 degree sunshine to capture some more signs of spring around here. This Almond bush is loaded with buds about to burst.

Hyacinth perfume fills the air around this flower bed.

A Plum tree in full bloom.

Dandelions coming to life in this warm weather.

Brilliantly yellow Forsythia.

Creeping Charlie is one of the first blooming wild plants.

A patch of Red Deadnettle was already blooming.

These White - blue Violets look so dainty.

Hosta spouts are breaking ground.

But the cutest sprout of the spring season so far is the one below.
To update his dad, my #1 son's leg progress, he got the final hard cast off his ankle and is now in a removable hard boot for another month to give the split tendon more time to adhere to the outside of his foot.
He has more movement in his foot and is out of the constant nerve pain he has had since the accident so I would call this tendon splitting surgery a huge success.
As soon as he gets out of this boot he will be looking for a job so pray for him, that he finds one !
Their power was off while they changed the wires to the new pole this afternoon so they spent the afternoon here.

I have been lazy this evening ,spending most of it on the couch. I'll be glad when I completely shake this cold and get my energy level back up to normal.

Thanking God for the blessings of today and still praying for the people of Japan.
Good Night and God Bless.

RAINY DAY AND MEMORIES OF MARCH 1981

Greeted by a rainy morning today I was okay with staying inside and getting housework and laundry done today.
According to the weather wizards we were not suppose to get much rain but it has rained steadily all day. We got about an inch by the time it stopped late this evening. It has been 42 degrees for most of the day and is predicted to get to 38 tonight.
I have felt a little better today and my sneezing fits have been fewer and farther between, but the nose still drips from time to time.
These recent rains have encouraged a lot of beautiful color in the yard. Tomorrow with no rain I'll get out and get pictures of all the colors hopefully.
One of the men Hubbie works with lost his father and the visitation was tonight. With the nasty weather and the visitation in the next county and me with the chance of a nasty sneezing fit we decided against attending.

I found no pictures taken in March 1981 but I definitely remember what was going on at that time.
I had just found out that I was pregnant with our first baby and was having bouts of morning sickness which subsided at the end of the month as my first trimester ended.
We had had a scare about a tubular pregnancy that turned out to be an ovarian cyst that would probably go away with the birth of the baby.
Things were going normally, I was working at Norton Diamond Tool Corporation in the engineering dept, Hubbie was delivering uniforms for Rental Uniform Service.
We lived in this single wide with an addition on land I had bought from my dad and we were a happy couple awaiting the birth of our first baby.

God has been so good to me through the years and I am forever grateful and will march in His army forever.
Good Night and God Bless.

ANOTHER SNEEZY DAY

AAAA-CHOOOOO !!!!!!
That is all I'm doing this morning again, grrrrrr !!!! I hate colds !!!!
Hubbie left early on his day off to take the frig to the metal yard and pick up diesel for the tractor.
I did the morning chores and had breakfast while he was gone and was on the couch when he got back.
He came through and then headed to work in his wood pile since it looks like the rain is going to hold off for the day.
I usually have one really lousy feeling day when I catch a cold and I'm thinking today is gonna be that day.
After spending the morning on the couch ,after lunch I decided I had to do something productive with the day even though I feel very lousy.
This is our seed potatoes that are cut and ready for planting as soon as they heal a little and the ground dries up a bit.
Hubbie was going to plow today but it is just to wet after all that rain last week.
My broccoli plants are coming along and some of the basil is starting to come up als0.
Hubbie bought onion sets last week and all the green, lettuce, radish, pea,and kohlrabi seed is ready as soon as the ground is ready.
I'm hungry for home grown produce. We had some kale greens that have perked back up after the cold and snow looked like it did them in ,tonight for supper and although they didn't have much taste they were still better than the ones in the grocery.

I also worked in my pictures again this afternoon and evening. Getting all of 1989,1990 and up to mid-December of 1991 labeled and in an album between sneezes and nose blowing ,I thought that was a pretty good amount.

The news from Japan is definitely not good, along with a tidal wave of more than 1000 bodies washing up on shore this morning, tonight another explosion in another nuclear reactor has released radiation into the air.

Our weather is about to really spoil us ......
How about them temperatures !!!!!!!

Praying for the people of Japan, may they seek comfort in the Lord.

Good Night and God Bless.
