SNOW STORM PREP AND UNDATED PICS

G-son was here to wait for school to begin on a 2-hour delay this morning. Mom had a doctor's appointment so I took him to school.
I did the chores and had breakfast before we left so I could go to Ingles for some groceries early before the craziness of the day before a snow storm sets in .
I met d-in-love there on her way to work and brought her groceries that needed to be in the frig home to keep until she got home.
When I first got to Ingles there were plenty of parking spots and the crowd was minimal but by the time I left there were no buggys and lots of cars, whew !!
I got home and put everything away before lunch. After lunch I worked on daughter's taxes all afternoon.
At about 5:00 the snow started pouring down, quickly adding up on the ground. I did the chores and refilled all the bird feeders. We are expecting about 8-9 inches of snow in our area.
The storm that is dropping all the snow was named Remus and he is making a mess all across the south east, dropping massive amounts of snow in places that are not used to any snowfall, such as 10 inches in Alabama.

Schools are closed and it's gonna be another fun snow play day tomorrow , I can already tell.
Tonight it is not fun at all if you are out on the roads as the snow is falling much faster than they can plow it off the roads. I-26 through our county was completely closed down for a couple hours tonight when the big rigs became stuck in the slick snow.
It looks like we already have about 5 inches at 11:00 here in our yard and it is still coming down hard out there.

Since snow photos will be filling up the next few day's post I thought I had better go ahead and post this month's undated old pictures to finish up the decade pics for February.
This is my paternal grandparents, Richard Martin and Martha Louise Pryor.
In this picture Grandfather Richard is standing on the porch of his house.
This is my Uncle Victor Pryor , dad's brother, who was a lawyer and judge in Claremore, Oklahoma.
And this was my Aunt Winnifred (Winnie) Pryor Orr , dad's sister, who died in child birth of her first daughter.
Dad always said I reminded him so much of her.
I spent the evening working on #2 son's taxes trying to figure out how to delete one of the forms from last years taxes that no longer apply. I may have to make a phone call to figure out why it keeps coming back up.
At the rate it has snowed all evening we may be in for a huge surprise in the morning.
Thankful tonight for the blessings of this day and praying for my son's and all the folks who have to get out in the snow in the morning to get to work, may God keep them safe. Prayers for  #1 son in his big yellow truck and #2 son in his little white truck !

Good Night and God Bless

SURPRISE SNOWFALL

What a surprise this morning !!!

We woke to about 3" of fluffy white powdery snow covering everything and closing schools.
Had our first accident on the new road when a lady was driving to fast and slammed the brakes on throwing her into the end of this guard rail. This is a testament for guard rails as this one worked perfectly, collapsing upon impact and keeping the car on the road side. Thankfully the lady driver did not get hurt.
The scanner came alive around 7:30 to 8:00 with accidents all over the county. Hubbie decided to take the day off so he could play with the kids in the snow.
G-son and Little EL both love the snow and today wasn't so cold so they played outside for a long time.

I look  like the "Pillsbury Dough Boy" in my new snow mobile suit I found on E-Bay but I was very warm and dry.

Baby BB slept through the entire fun time outside this year but I have a feeling come next winter he will make up for it !!
When we came inside they were ready for a day of fun together.

All three kids were so good today, they played, they took good naps and had a wonderful together day while Re and I fixed lunch then supper.
Everyone made it for supper even #1, #2 sons and Aa who braved the  weather all day outside plus daughter and b-friend Josh and even d-in-love who has been in bed all day not feeling well.
We had a really nice visit before they all left tonight.
As we watch the news tonight I've a feeling this won't be the only fun day this week. They are predicting the biggest snowfall, 8-9 inches, of the season starting tomorrow evening.

With the prediction of less than 1" for this morning we might have a very interesting rest of the week!!
Most of this morning's snow has melted by this evening except in the very shaded areas but it is supposed to be 20 degrees tonight so anything left will definitely be frozen by morning.
Don't forget to feed your feathered friends in weather like this, it is hard for them to find food under the snow. These are the pair of little Carolina Wrens that live on my front porch.

Hubbie and I watched the UNC / NC State ball game tonight which state won.
What a wonderful day the Lord blessed me with today, I love snow and I love these kids and love to see them having fun together. Feeling humbly grateful tonight.
Good Night and God Bless.

BUSY MONDAY AND 1985 AND 1995 FEBRUARY MEMORIES

Up to a sunny warm morning to continue our melting process thankfully.
I did chores and had breakfast then hubbie and I headed out to run some errands and restock our supply of animal feed.
I dropped a cake order off at the bank while I did weekly banking business.
We got home just in time for me to grab a quick lunch and head out again to my yearly dermatology skin check appointment. Since I had the melanoma removed from my arm I always go once a year to have the doctor verify that I don't see anything suspicious and he looks in places that I cannot, like through my hair.  All was good today and he didn't see anything to worry about.
Hubbie had stayed home and changed the oil in his truck and as soon as I got back home from the doctor he changed the oil in my van.
The wind has gotten up this afternoon and the temperature is dropping under now cloudy skies and it is to cold for me to do the things outside I was hoping to get done today, oh well !!
Laundry was waiting inside so that is how I spent the afternoon and into the evening , doing 4 loads of laundry.
The weather maps are changing each day with more winter weather for us it looks like.
With a system coming through tonight only giving us a dusting of snow and another larger system expected Wednesday night giving us quite a bit of snow. Thankfully it is all forecast to be snow, no more ice !!
Also the winter weather watches have really expanded for tonight.
Well this is the beginning of the last week of tax month for me so tomorrow I have intentions of getting all our taxes finished !!
Also in this last week of February I need to finish the decade photo series for this month.
Back in 1985 February was the last month with only 2 boys and they were cuties .
This is #1 son and hubbie.
This is #2 son with one of his cousins, Christal Owenby, looking on.
Our dog back then was a huge Saint Bernard named Sugar.  She was a big baby with the kids and they routinely rode on back.
I love the memories these old pictures evoke each time I put them on here and talk about them.
At this time in that year I was probably getting more then ready to welcome our third child into the world as daughter was born less than a month later.
Funny I don't remember a lot about that pregnancy , guess with two little boys, 3 and 2 years old running around they gave me enough to keep my mind occupied , haha.
Fast forward 10 years and it was a totally different story , now with 3 growing kids we were busy all the time with some of their activities.
Daughter was in 4th grade and that was the first year her age could play basketball. I coached her team and #1 son and one of the other girls brother's , Eric, who was a friend of son's helped me with the girls.
This is the team, first row from left, Jessica Hoots,Rosalyn Lyda,Nicole Lewis,Nicky Drake,Karla Ellis,Rhondria Waters, daughter peeking around Michelle Overcash's shoulder. Back row Eric Taylor, #1 son, me, Krissie Overcash.
Daughter.
#2 son also was playing in his 6th grade year and my cousin Judy Pryor Justice was coaching his team. I can't remember the first three team mates starting from the left but after that it is Trey Enloe, Mathew Laughter, coach Judy Justice, Jarrod Owenby, Jason Justice, #2 son with the ball, Jeremy Pack, Andrew Vuncannon.
#2 son.

Grateful to God for these wonderful memories and for the blessings He still sends my way each and every day.
Good Night and God Bless.

WELCOME WARM SUNDAY

I emptied almost an inch of water from the rain gauge this morning. Most of it from the rain that went on all night as the warm front pushed the cold air from our area at least for this day.
If you had come to our church for the first time today you probably would have been surprised by the attire of our pastor today.
The sermon today was about us Christians and "work" , hence the over-alls !!
It was a good service and this will be the last for a couple weeks from our senior pastor as he and 4 more members of our church are going on a mission trip to the middle east. God be with them !
Our new friend Susan came back to church this morning and brought her little son who really liked the class he went to.
Everyone made it to lunch except #2 son who was golfing with some friends at the Grove Park Inn golf course in Asheville. This is a very expensive course to golf but today they got to play for a mere $10.  Guess they figured a little money was better than no money on these cool winter days. To the golfers surprise this turned out to be a very nice 58 degree, mostly sunny afternoon.
We had chicken pot pie and salad for lunch and everyone had a nice visit after we ate. I gave the kids their late Valentine gifts.
After everyone left hubbie and I decided to turn our heat pump on as almost all the ice was meltd off the fan blades and to our relief in ran normally. Thank you Lord !
As water from a passing car blew all over my windshield on the way to church this morning I turned my wipers on without thinking and broke one of them that was partially stuck in the ice still on the van but luckily hubbie had a spare wiper for it in his shop and I'm ready to go now.
My icy paths are now very muddy paths and still very slippery.
I stayed outside for a while this evening after chores were done just enjoying the warmer weather.
Even with the drabness of winter it is nice to be outside in God's world !!

By sunset the clouds were moving in and the temperature was dropping in advance of another storm system coming through overnight.
The weather advisory area is shrinking but we are still in it.
Hubbie and I spent a relaxing Sunday evening doing what Sunday's are for, resting !!
Grateful tonight for the blessings of the friends and family tonight that God choose to put in my life.
Good Night and God Bless
