ANNUAL STOCK HOLDERS MEETING

Up and out on this cold 22 degree Saturday market morning.  Hubbie has almost lost his voice and still feels rough today.
He stayed inside and had breakfast while I went out to do all the chores this morning. I know we are going to be late for market but on this cold morning I don't think it will matter.
I was right as we pulled into market and there were very few cars.
We got set up and then hubbie left to get home and rest.
Sales were very slow and for most vendors non-existent ,but I am thankful I finally managed to make $29.
The sun came out and the day was beautiful and did warm up to the mid 40's in the afternoon.
This was the date for our annual stockholders meeting of the Curb Market and as soon as 2:00 came we closed market and held our meeting.  We had 31 stockholders in attendance, that's only 1 over what the requirement is to hold the meeting. There wasn't a lot of discussion so the meeting was pretty short. A new board was voted on and I was the second highest vote getter and all the old board members went back on except the treasurer who resigned. I am the new treasurer now and the newly elected member, Leslie will take over my secretary duties.
We had our January monthly board meeting after the stockholder meeting and I didn't get home until 5:30.
Just in time to get things put away and get the chores done.
G-son's wrestling team won the conference championship today with the individual wrestlers winning by almost 30 points. He didn't get to wrestle but was there to cheer his team mates on.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for our loving Savior's grace and mercy.

BUSY FRIDAY

Up to get this Friday started and count another week in the books !!
It is 23 degrees so I took RL to pre-school before I did chores today to give it time to warm up a little and give me more time to break ice.
After chores I had breakfast and then hubbie, IR and I went to Fletcher feed to get stocked up on chicken feed. The weather people are saying our weather is going to get interesting about mid week next week so we want to be prepared.

We stopped by CVS to pick up hubbie some cold medicine for the nasty head cold he has and me some more Airborne to hopefully keep from catching his cold.
We had enough time to stop by the house and unload the feed before we headed out to pick up RL.
IR has slept the entire time for a nice 2 hour nap.
RL was in a great mood when I picked her up and wanted to stop at Burger King for lunch. IR woke up as soon as she heard RL's voice and they ate and had a good time at Burger King. All the workers there recognize us now and treat the girls with extra toys and food.
We left there and made a stop at Ingles for a couple things for Sunday's lunch  and the girls had a great time driving the car cart around the store singing Jingle Bells.

We came home and hubbie played with the girls while I baked 3 caramel cakes and 1 pan of brownies.
Then I took my turn with the girls while hubbie built a fire in the wood stove downstairs and let the dogs out for a run.
D-in-love picked up RL and IR immediately climbed up in my lap and went to sleep. I know she is tired from keeping up with RL all afternoon.
When hubbie came back inside I layed her on the couch and went out to get my chores done.
Son-in-love picked IR up while I was outside since daughter had a ballgame at AC Reynolds tonight.
I came inside and watched the news then iced my cakes and got things ready for market.
I didn't sleep well last night with hubbie coughing continuously so I am getting to bed early tonight.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

ANOTHER SLOW COLD MARKET DAY

Doesn't seem like Thursday morning already but we're up earlier and getting children fed , chores done, and loading for market. I dropped RL off at pre-school and met hubbie and IR at market.
As IR ran around the empty aisles both behind and in front of the counters she stopped and looked at me as if to ask what are we doing here ???   I couldn't really come up with a good answer thinking was it really worth sitting here all morning for the $29 I made.

Connie , other g-ma picked IR up about 11:00 to spend some time with her and hubbie went to the dump and brought us back a sub for lunch then helped replace some burned out light bulbs before he left market and made a stop at Sam's Club on the way home.
The cold wind got harder, blowing in the door right beside my table so I headed out about 30 minutes early. I went to the bank and PO and then made a stop at Aldi for groceries and baking supplies.
I made it home at 3:00 and hubbie helped me get unloaded and get things put away. He went out to get his part of the chores done before daughter dropped off IR on her way to her late basketball practice. I watched the news and played with IR after she got here until it was time for me to get my chores done. I try to wait until later , now about 5:30 to go out so that by the time I get everything fed and gather the eggs it is time to start shutting the hen house doors for the night. This way I don't have to come inside and take all my winter gear off and then put it back on to go back out and shut the doors.
It has gotten colder as the day went on and it is already below freezing this evening when I came inside. I dumped 1.05 inches of rain from the gauge from the overnight rain.  More winter temps and weather poised to come in again next week.

Also tomorrow and this weekend are below normal temps.
After all it is January !!!!!
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

ICY ROADS CLOSE SCHOOLS

Got a phone call at 5:45am from daughter saying school was closed for the day because of icy roads.
We went back to sleep and enjoyed a lazy morning. It was an annual leave day so no one could work.
I waited until 9:00 to get outside as hubbie was out at 8:00 and had a hard time standing up on the icy ground.
There was still ice on all raised surfaces and the grass was still pretty slick when I went out but thankfully I didn't fall.
I got all the feeding done and got back inside safely thank goodness.
It is still raining lightly but the temperature is a balmy 34 degrees .
I had a leisurely breakfast then hubbie and I made a trip to Walmart and Ingles for baking supplies and a few groceries. It is a dreary misty foggy day.

We made it home in time for a late lunch and then I did my baking. I baked 3 caramel, 2 chocolate, 2 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies.
Daughter brought IR here about 1:00 so she could get to basketball practice.
I did some house cleaning and the weekly paperwork while hubbie played with IR.
Daughter picked her up after practice and then hubbie and I did our evening chores. I'm glad we don't have to drive anywhere tonight as this pea soup fog has gotten thicker this evening.

There was 1/4 inch of rain in the gauge this evening and the heavier rains are supposed to move in to night and we are under a flood and high wind warning once again.
Talked to Tif and she had slid into the ditch this morning coming down Davis Mountain road on her way to work at 6am. Thankfully she didn't hurt her vehicle and #2 son was able to pull her out and they both got to work safely.
I spent the evening icing cakes and getting things ready for market.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

ANOTHER ICING EVENT EXPECTED

Another 15 degree morning, brrr. I decided to wait until I got back from taking RL to pre-school before I got my chores done. It takes so much longer to break ice and re-fill all the water pans.
I saw lots of ice on the sides of the roads on the way to school anywhere there had been standing water it was slick ice this morning.
I stopped by the PO on the way home then when I got here went straight out to get the morning feeding done. All the water pans were again froze solid and required re-filling with the warm water from the cooler.
Thankfully both wandering roosters that I forgot to shut up last night were okay this morning. I remembered I had forgotten to shut either of their nighttime houses for protection after I had gotten into bed last night and couldn't bring myself to get back out in the cold.  I worried about both of them as I remembered a nice wandering rooster I had a couple years ago who was snatched from his night time spot by a passing coyote.
I got all the feeding and watering done and came back inside to have breakfast. While IR and I ate hubbie went out to take care of the dogs.
We decided to go early and stop at the Amazon returns warehouse on the way to pick up RL. All we found today was another gate for our bedroom door so we don't have to shut the door and let it get cold in there.
We picked RL up and then stopped at Burger King for lunch. Both girls are acting out of sorts today and both had bouts of crying on the way home.
We were going to Fletcher to pick up feed but with the  girls ill tempers we came straight home. RL was asleep when we got here so hubbie sat with her and let her get an hour nap out while IR and I watched TV while I ate some lunch then we played in the playroom until RL woke up about 3:00.
The girls played well together this afternoon .

D-in-love brought EL home from school with her and both little girls were so glad to see her.
After a short play time d-in-love took EL to meet her mom who has a re-certification class all this week and d-in-love and RL went home.
Hubbie and I watched the news of another icing event overnight tonight !!
Hubbie went out to get his chores done and I rocked IR to sleep as her mom has a ballgame tonight and will be later picking her up.
I got a call from d-in-love saying g-son had gotten hurt at wrestling practice and probably needed to go to urgent care to get checked out.
She brought RL back up here. I layed IR on the couch and hubbie came inside to stay with the girls while I went out to get my chores done.
#1 son was here when I came back inside and stayed until daughter picked up IR then he took RL home also.
Hubbie and I snacked for supper and then rested for the evening. I am very tired tonight as I didn't sleep well last night and am going to bed early tonight.
It feels like snow outside tonight it is so still and quiet as it always is before a snowfall.  I wonder what we will wake up to in the morning.
Thank goodness g-son wasn't hurt badly just had a badly strained groin muscle.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

THREE GRANDCHILD MONDAY

Brrrrr…..  11 degrees and still windy this morning makes my face hurt while out getting morning chores done. Hubbie and I tried a new way to get me some unfrozen water to refill all the frozen water pans in the chicken pens, we put a large old cooler in the feed shed last night and put 5 gallon milk jugs filled with warm water in it.
To my surprise and delight this morning the water was still warm and made nice hand warmers on the way to put it in the water pans.
I got back inside after getting everything taken care of before any of the kids got here. Schools are closed today for Martin Luther King day but both daughter and d-in-love are expected to work. They are both going in late thankfully so they don't have to drag the girls out in this cold weather.
Daughter brought IR at 9:00 and d-in-love brought RL at 10:00.  We all had breakfast then the girls played while I got the weekly laundry started.
Hubbie went up to church and picked g-son up from a weekend with the church youth group at Ridgecrest. They had 20 of their youth go on this trip. G-son is the 4th from the left in the first standing row ( the first boy).
In these pics he has on the blue and grey hoodie.

This is a really great group of kids and they always have fun.
He was really pooped and hungry when he came in and after he ate a big lunch he sacked out on the couch for the afternoon.
These 2 had a typical Monday and took turns being cry babies all day.

I got 3 loads of laundry done and did my ironing for the week.
I went outside mid afternoon to break all the water pans again so things could get another drink of water before it refroze for the evening.
D-in-love picked up RL and g-son and son-in-love came after IR since daughter had a late basketball practice.
Last night's lunar eclipse was a visible one and there are many pics from many brave souls who got out in the cold and watched. I wasn't one of them but this is a pic from the local news outlet.
The high temp today struggled to get to 32 and this evening when it was chore time it was already at 28 degrees and another 13 degree night is predicted for tonight.
Another winter storm has already been named and is headed our way by mid week this time. Indra is going to bring us a lot of moisture for sure but the forecasters are reluctant to predict just what kind of moisture it will be yet.
Hubbie and I watched the UNC / Virginia Tech basketball game tonight and UNC ran away with it.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

WINDY COLD SUNDAY

Woke to the sound of howling wind and it got worse as the morning went on. I held my breath once again as I got the feeding chores done under the swaying pine trees. There was also a skim of slick frozen sleet on all raised surfaces this morning as light snow flurries were still blowing around.
I emptied 1.3 inches of rain from the gauge this morning from yesterday and last night.
Hubbie and I decided not to go to church this morning and stay home in case a tree fell on something and caught fire.
We spent the morning fixing the spaghetti lunch that we had planned last Sunday. #1 son's family, #2 son, Daughter and IR and Aa's family joined us for lunch.  We all had a nice visit. Daughter took Re and Aa over to show them the progress on her house while the kids stayed here and played.
They came back and then everyone left. Hubbie and I spent the cold windy afternoon dozing in front of the TV.  A very nice restful Sunday.
The cold arrived by evening chore time and it was pretty miserable outside getting anything done.
I feel sorry for all the animals when it gets this cold and they all get extra feed. They didn't linger tonight about getting in their warm houses for the cold night.
The wind is still really whipping tonight so we are still worried that we will loose our power or the leaning pine tree will fall. Lucky for us though the rain and wind is all we got from this potent storm as it passed across the area. Some places got more than 3 feet of snow in the northeast.
As I finished chores I saw this huge moon rising over the tree tops. Tonight starting at 10:30 there will be a complete lunar eclipse and it will turn this bright moon into a blood moon as the shadow of the earth makes it glow red.

Don't know if it would be worth braving the below zero chill factor wind to watch this tonight or not?
Guess I'll see how hard the wind is still blowing at 10:30 if I'm still awake .
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the love of Jesus Christ a Wonderful Merciful Savior.
God Bless and Good Night.
