BAKING WEDNESDAY

Up to a regular morning with hubbie getting g-son to school then I took RL alone today so hubbie could stay here and wait for the return of the tree trimmers. My brother had some trees they were asking if they could cut so hubbie needed to let them know that he said it was okay.
I dropped RL and then made a stop at Ingles on the way home. I dropped a gallon of milk off to daughter so she could get her baking started.
Hubbie was leaving for the dentist just as I got home. I was planning on going with him to shop our favorite thrift shops in Columbus and Tryon while we were there but Re needed me to pick up BB from pre-school today so I stayed home this morning.
I had breakfast and an extra cup of tea while I sat in the sunroom and watched the tree trimming crew clear more limbs from the lines.
I picked up BB at 11:45 from First Baptist where he goes to pre-school 3 days a week.
We came home to have lunch of pizza and juice and hubbie came in from the dentist with a good report .
I got my baking started, I baked 6 caramel, 1 chocolate, 4 pound cakes, 1 applesauce cake and a pan of brownies.
I was just finishing up when Deb brought RL up here to play with BB. RL cried to go to daughter's house earlier to play with IR so she had lunch and played over there.
Hubbie took BB and RL outside to eat icys and wait for d-in-love who was bringing EL home from school with her.
When they arrived EL also got an icys and headed outside to play.
Re picked them up and d-in-love took RL home about choretime.
Hubbie and I got chores done then I moved the 2 younger guineas back into the green house that I had taken them out of thinking they would now stay with the older guineas and roam around the yard and pasture but instead they flew right back into the Silkie lot and tore the netting down.
I guess you can' t integrate different age guineas.
I came inside and went to my office to get weekly paperwork done and pay bills.
Then I spent the rest of the evening icing cakes and getting things ready for market.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night.

MORE PARK PLAY AND INDIAN CORN HARVEST

Well thankfully the scratches on my face don't hurt anymore and I got a good long night's sleep.
Hubbie took g-son to school while I got dressed and ready for chores with RL helping and worrying about my face.
I got chores done and then we all headed out again to drop off RL and then run an errand for the market. We stopped by a favorite thrift shop on the way that has 1/2 off every Tuesday but didn't find much.
I went by the local newspaper office and paid for the ad that they are doing in their paper for our old timey day at market this Saturday.
We came home to meet daughter and the girls and grab a quick breakfast of boiled eggs and toast. On the way up the driveway this big turtle was starting to cross the drive toward #1 son's house. I got out and made him turn around and head back down toward the pond in the pasture.

We left early to go pick up RL and went by the Amazon returns place on our way.
After we picked her up we headed over to Laurel Park to have another picnic and let the girls play.
We took lunch from home today of pizza and snacks.
The girls ate quickly and then hit the playground. Thankfully all three were enjoying the sunshine and play today.

Today has been a little cooler so that was nice and the girls got to stay and play almost all alone today.
We left there and stopped by Pelicans to have snowballs on our way home.

We also stopped at Ingles to meet a lady that was buying a chair daughter was selling and stay with the now sleeping 3 girls while she ran in to Ingles for some baking supplies.
We came home and the tree trimmers for the power lines were here working on clearing our lines. It was very good to see them and now thankfully we won't have anymore power line fires hopefully. But the tall leaning pine tree was out of the right of way so they couldn't do anything about it.
In fact one of the guys who is a tree trimmer in his off work time said it was too dangerous for him to cut.
We will get some other opinions before we give up.
The mama guinea is doing great with her babies and she has a lot of them. I haven't been able to get a count yet as they move around too much .

One of the foremen with the tree trimmers gave me his number and wants some of them when they get old enough.
We got chores done and finished gathering our Indian corn from the garden before the racoons and squirrels find it. It is really pretty.

I will use some for decorations and save some for seed and I'll let the girls get what they want to decorate with.
These sister are beginning to really love each other.

At least I feel much better tonight than last night thankfully.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

PARK PLAY AND ROOSTER SCRATCHES

Up early to greet g-son and RL to get this week started.
Hubbie took g-son to school then I got chores done and we headed out with RL. We dropped her at her pre-school and then came back home.
The mama guinea was patiently sitting on her nest but some of the early hatchlings were wandering farther and farther away from her in the wet grass so when daughter and the girls got here we got her to help move then into a brooder box to keep them warm and safe. There was some eggs just beginning to hatch so we moved them also into a nice soft straw nest we had made for her in the box.
This guinea mama is so much calmer than the one that hatched the last batch of chicks. She calmly sat right back down on the nest we made and called all the chicks under her .
And really didn't put up too bad of a fight when we moved her.
Hubbie said we should definitely mark her some way so we would know what a great mama she is.
We came inside and daughter called the cardiologist for an appointment for CA today to check on the big blisters on her incision.  They had an opening at 1:30 so she took that and we will take IR with us to pick up RL and take them on to the park.
She stayed here until we left to pick up RL and she went home to get ready for the appointment.
We had a McDonalds picnic and the girls enjoyed that before they had lots of fun playing at the park.

Daughter called and thankfully the doctor didn't think there was an infection in CA's incision and just to keep her on the antibiotics another week longer.

We left the park and met daughter here so hubbie could go pick up g-son from school.
D-in-love picked up g-son and RL and then daughter took IR and CA home for naps.
A man came after the roosters I had advertised last night and one of them flew into the side of my face while I was trying to catch them and now I have 2 deep scratches down the side of my face.

Hubbie and I took his truck and went to Flat Rock to my friend Susie's house to pick up an old horse trailer she had that she thought would make a good playhouse for the girls.
It is really old and heavy and we were thankful to get it home safely. It has a nice dressing room with electrical outlets so the girls will have a nice playhouse when we get it all set up I will make more pics.

We got chores done and then the man came back to buy a couple guineas that he wanted and luckily I caught them without any trouble or anymore scratches.
I came inside and got cleaned up and went to bed very early with a throbbing headache from the blow that rooster gave me in the side of my head.
After a little while with an ice pack I felt much better and was able to get to sleep easily.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

SUNDAY HATCHING AND 1999 MEMORIES

A nice warmer Sunday morning as I got chores done and then got my enchilada casserole in the oven. It sure made the kitchen smell good before we left for church.
I also cooked black beans in the pressure pot before I left and we left corn on the cob cooling on the stove.
Our associate pastor gave the message today.
Everyone made it to lunch today and the casserole turned out very good and everyone enjoyed it along with the beans and Spanish rice I cooked .
The kids all had a good time playing inside and outside and #2 son discovered that the guinea setting in the front yard had chicks starting to hatch.
We saw at least three chicks but the hen wasn't moving so we knew that there was more hatching under her spread wings.
I have been afraid that it has been so hot that the eggs might not hatch but hopefully she will have a good hatch out of the 24 eggs that we counted under her.
This has been a nice quiet afternoon after everyone left and as I sat out in the round swing enjoying the cool breeze and the setting sun I couldn't help but wonder how much longer  before all this green would be turning to the blah browns and greys of colder weather.
We got chores done and set a bottomless rabbit cage down over the guinea hen since she hasn't made any effort to get off her nest all evening.
I was afraid she would try and get her chicks out early in the morning and either an early morning predator or the wet grass would be their demise.
Hubbie couldn't believe I was able to cup the cage down around her without disturbing her but thankfully I did.
To continue the decade pics with September 1999 school and athletic pics.
#1 son was entering his senior year of high school and football.

#2 son was entering his 11th grade year of high school.
And daughter was entering her freshman year of high school and played JV volleyball.
In the first picture she is looking through the net and she is hitting the ball in the second pic.

Great memories for a very busy time in our lives.
Thankful for the blessings of today.
God Bless and Good Night.

MARKET BOARD MEETING AND 1989 PICS.

IR was here early this morning as son-in-love dropped her off on his way to his morning run to go with us to market. Daughter and CA were already there with daughter managing today.
I got chores done and then we headed out a little earlier than usual.
I got set up before any customers came in but daughter had taken orders for 2 cakes before I got there that folks were coming back for.
Both the girls were good this morning and just before lunch Connie, IR's other g-ma picked her up for a shopping trip while Tommy, other g-paw and son-in-love finished putting out grass seed in their yard.
Hubbie left to pick up another load of straw bales for them and drop it by and then go home to get our lawn mowed.
Daughter and I took turns with CA and she was a really good baby today.
We finished up the day with a pretty good sales day and daughter and CA left and I stayed for a market board meeting.
We discussed the upcoming Old Timey day and a couple changes we need to make with a couple vendors and then left market.
I came straight home and rested from the heat of the day.
Hubbie had finished the lawn and rested also out of the heat.
After chores hubbie and I made a trip to Ingles to get supplies for tomorrow's lunch. I am going to try a new recipe for an enchilada casserole which looks very good.
With no pics for the day I will continue the decade series with a couple pics of daughter showing off a new haircut back in September 1989. At that time my oldest brother's (then wife) Laurie opened a beautician's shop in their basement so haircuts were easy to come by and she did a great job on daughter's hair.

Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

BUSY FRIDAY

Up to get this Friday started with getting g-son and RL off to their schools. Hubbie didn't make our Sam's Club trip yesterday so we stopped there on the way home and then picked daughter's groceries up at Walmart's curbside service and took them by her house.
IR wanted to come home with us and daughter needed to bake so we came home and played until it was time to go pick up RL from pre-school.
The girls were very glad to see each other and chatted and sang all the way home. We all had lunch then I started my baking with a good little helped.
We baked 6 pound cakes, 1 applesauce cake, 2 chocolate layer cakes and 1 pan of brownies.
Daughter dropped off CA on her way to drive the bus for the Boys and Girls Club this afternoon for school pick-ups.
The girls all were very good and played well together while daughter was gone.

When daughter came back she took IR and CA on a ride to get them to take naps and d-in-love took RL and g-son who hubbie had picked up from school home hubbie and I watched the news and did chores.
I felt strange only icing a couple chocolate cakes this evening but it was nice to get to relax and get to bed early.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

MARKET DAY THURSDAY

A different morning today as g-son and RL arrived on their regular schedule and then daughter brought IR by on her way to manage the Curb Market while our regular manager is on vacation for 3 weeks.
Hubbie took g-son to school while I got ready for market with 2 little girls helping !!!
When he got back he fed them breakfast while I went out and did chores then we all loaded up and headed out. I dropped RL off at pre-school and met hubbie and IR at market where daughter and CA were already there.
We got set up and then we all took turns with the girls and selling . We had a very good sales day thanks to a couple large sales which were unexpected.
This little girl behaved very well all morning.

Hubbie took IR with him about 1:00 and they left to go by the dump and get home hopefully for her to take a nap.
I stayed and helped daughter lock up and then I made stops at the bank , the PO , Aldi and Ingles on my home and I also ran into Bath and Body works while I was in the mall at the PO to pick up some air fresheners and some secret sister gifts. They were having a good sale.
I came home and hubbie helped me get unloaded and get things put away.
Then  both of us rested for awhile fighting naps until choretime.
We got chores done and then relaxed for the evening.
Thankful for a wonderfully blessed day.
God Bless and Good Night
