BUSY,JOYFUL,CHRISTMAS EVE 2009

Christmas Eve has arrived,but this one started off just like any normal market day. Parking lot at market was still pretty icy but I did get backed up to the door so we didn't have to carry all our stuff across the ice. Everyone seemed cheerful and festive today,maybe the goodness of the season is kicking in! We had a pretty good market day,but nothing like years past.
Daughter left taking some of our left overs to the TV station where she used to work,she feels sorry for the people who have to work through the holidays because it was her when she worked over there. I came straight home,no more crowded stores for me! I helped hubbie finish putting in the drain line for our new gutters and put out some straw to keep the mud down some. I filled all the bird feeders again,I have lots of hungry birds. Hubbie moved our squirrel feeder and filled it, I hope to get to see my little white friend once again.We still have an amazing amount of snow.In fact the cattle still can't find any grass the snow is so deep.
Soon after we finished our outside work I heard a commotion down on the road ,I got in the van and drove down to find the drive blocked with cars,one was driven by a woman who said the driver of the truck which was still sitting on the bridge about 100 yards away said she hit him and knocked his bumper off.The Highway Patrol man came and parked in my drive with the truck that claimed to be damaged,my son came home and tried to get in the drive,no one would move,finally I walked over to the patrolman's car,who was acting like he didn't even see my son sitting there and asked him to move to let him in so he wouldn't get hit. He was very rude and said "it won't be my fault if he gets hit,he didn't tell me he needed in", I bit my tongue and said nicely,well I'm telling you now! He backed up and let him in and I came back to the house to stay out of trouble as this made me pretty mad and I need to find out if they have the authority to take over a private driveway so the homeowners can't get in. Daughter came in a few minutes later and she had to make him move again,but he made her drive through the yard and go around him and she said he looked at her as if to say she shouldn't be bothering him. Maybe he's being a jerk because he has to work on Christmas Eve.
We got ready and thankfully the drive was clear when we went to Candle light service.My favorite church service of the year.This one was really nice and everyone really enjoyed it and the fellowship.D-in-love played her violin in the instrumental ensemble and we sang all the old familiar songs that I dearly love. It was a marvelous time for everyone even g-son enjoyed it especially when daddy made him the candle holder. A cold rain was falling as we left the sanctuary and stood outside the church with our candles to sing "Joy to the World" so the whole neighborhood could hear the Christmas message.We came home and snacked on a Hickory Farms gift box a friend gave me today and left over coconut cake. Daughter and I wrapped gifts and put all them under the tree,now it looks more like Christmas in here. I made a 7-layer salad and a jello salad and put them in the fridg for our family dinner tomorrow night. My feet hurt tonight and I'm looking forward to a relaxing Christmas day tomorrow.It is 35 degrees with rain falling,hubbie went out and shut the gate to keep the cattle in the upper pasture in case it rains harder and floods with all the melting snow.
