CHICK UPDATE AND 1986 BEACH TRIP

Off to market a few minutes early this morning, wondering what I forgot to do today ,haha !!!
Market was slow again today but I am thankful for all that I did sell.
Daughter and Josh brought her baked goods by just after we got set up. They had already had their morning run and checked out a new place for breakfast called HenDough . They gave it a thumbs up for their chicken biscuits and doughnuts of all flavors.
After they and hubbie left I spent the day visiting with some friends and trying to keep from being too bored.
After market I made a stop at Aldi to pick up a few things for next week and made the first stop of the season at the "Farm Outlet" to pick up some fresh strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes and spring onions they had.
The strawberries were really good for early season berries. Sounds like a strawberry shortcake dessert day tomorrow !!
Hubbie was mowing grass when I got home and stopped to help me unload. I must have turned wrong lifting one of the cake racks back into the Honda at market because my lower back was screaming by the time I got in the house. I grabbed some strawberries and set up my back vibrator out in the sunroom to see if that would ease the pain.  After about an hour of the intense massage and heat I felt better.
I did chores and checked on the newly hatched Silkie chicks. Looks like she has nine and a few eggs left so I'll wait a few days to make a final count of these tiny little fuzzees !!!
An up date on these 3-week old Araucana green egg layer chicks as they grow and feather out under mom's watchful eye.
My back yard smells so wonderful after the rain fall, as we added another 2/10ths to the gauge overnight, the rain must have shuffled these Lilac blooms enough to make then really send out that wonderful fragrance today.
There isn't as many blooms as there have been in some years past but these smell so strong !
Daughter sent this picture of her and Josh as they hiked up to Bridal Veil falls this afternoon on this really nice day. The temperature reached 70 degrees but the wind kept the sun from warming it up too much.
D-in-love brought g-daughter by for a while this afternoon so she could do some undisturbed work on the computer.  She got tired and fussy before they left but a bath made her a happy girl as soon as she got home !!!
Hubbie and I spent a relaxing evening on this Saturday night to end another busy week.
I need to continue with my decade pictures so back in April 1986 we were having a very exciting month with a Myrtle Beach trip with hubbie's brother Marty's family with their two kids, Holly and Aaron.

Fun times and great memories !!
Thanking God for the blessings of all these memories through the years and praying that it be in His plans for many more.
God Bless and Good Night

EDNEYVILLE EXCELLENCE AWARDS

G-daughter didn't have any problem going back to sleep this dreary morning.
After chores I had breakfast then when she woke up I fed her some fruit and cereal. We are going over to the elementary school this morning to attend the awards ceremony that g-son is in.

It started at 10:00 but we tried to get there early enough to get a parking spot but no such luck so we made one up near the road so we could make a quick get away !!!
Everyone made a big fuss over g-daughter even g-son's teacher, Mrs. Thomas got a big smile from her.

G-son was proud to receive two awards today , one for A-B honor roll and one for perfect attendance.

We are so proud of his effort in school !!
G-daughter and I made our way home and she had her morning bottle and took a short power nap before I had lunch.
She watched cartoons awhile and then had her lunch . Nothing more soul soothing than rocking a sleeping baby and watching the rain fall softly out the window.
While she napped I baked 5 pound cakes and some lemon bars for market tomorrow.
The rain has been very light all afternoon, not what I was hoping for but we still have a chance for a good rain overnight.
When d-in-love came in from work she brought a friend who is spending the night with g-son. They enjoyed playing all around the yard.
At chore time this evening there was 2/10ths inch of rain in the gauge. Not much help for the raging wild fires. One in Madison county here in WNC is noW burning over 2000 acres near Hot springs.
And one in Virginia that is burning over 8000 acres in the Shenandoah Valley region.

Maybe tonight we will add to the total but the forecast isn't promising much.
Tonight I wrapped my cakes and got things ready for market. I am ready once again for an early bedtime as the dreariness of the day has me feeling like I could sleep for days again.
Grateful for the love of Jesus Christ everyday and the blessings He sends me.
God Bless and Good Night.

MARKET THURSDAY AND 1966 APRIL MEMORY

G-daughter slept through most of my market morning preparations today which made it easier.  She was wide a wake and looking all around as we drove to town.
My friend Cathy took her for a walk as soon as we got there while I got unloaded and set up. I'm glad g-daughter just loves this woman and will reach for her to pick her up just like she does me.
Market was pretty slow today but I am thankful for what I did sell. G-daughter was very good today and happily greeted everyone with a big smile. She is a very social little girl !!
After market we ran errands then made stops at Ingles, Aldi, Walmart and Farm bureau Insurance to pay the auto policy. G-daughter stayed awake from Aldi on then went sound to sleep on the way home.
She slept while I unloaded the Honda then d-in-love came after her. She left still sleeping soundly.
Hubbie who had taken the afternoon off to do some "honey dos" for daughter at her house came in to help get groceries put away.
We both crashed and watched the news fighting sleep. My 5 1/2 hour sleep night is catching up with me this evening. I feel like I could sleep for days but there are animals that need to be taken care of and so I am up and outside to get woke up.
The second hatch of little Silkie chicks is starting to hatch today as this first little yellow head poked out to have a look at me as I changed her water and feed.
The clouds are gathering quickly tonight in front of a front that is promising to bring us some much needed rainfall tomorrow. I know all the firefighters that have been super busy the last couple weeks are looking for rain as much as we gardeners are.
To catch up on decade pics this is some old pictures from April 1966. My youngest brother has an April 3rd birthday and apparently this year he got a new bicycle for his 5th birthday.

Older brother showing him how it is done and I see my bike in the background.

Heading to bed extra early tonight to catch up .
I am thankful tonight for a very blessing filled day and for the love of my Lord.
God Bless and Good Night.

BUSY WEDNESDAY

Up at 7am to get g-daughter and hop back in bed with her. Even when she doesn't go back to sleep for very long it is fun to snuggle with her .
After chores and breakfast for us both she watched while I gathered some trim for jean aprons to be sewn up later.
I spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon baking cakes. I baked 6 caramel, 2 chocolate, 2 pound cakes , 1 blackberry wine and some peanut butter bars.
A bright spot in the kitchen today was this bouquet that daughter used Monday for her bridal portrait session which sprang back to life with a little cold water drink.

G-daughter was a perfect angel all day, playing, eating and napping.
While she napped after I finished baking I cleaned and vacuumed the living room and sunroom. That's why it makes it so nice to have her sleeping in the playroom at the far end of the house out  of all the noise.
When d-in-love got here we sat on the porch and watched g-son and Haley play games in the yard before they headed home to get ready for church.
After hubbie and I did the chores we headed over to Aa & Re's house to help Re and the kids plant their first garden. EL helped mom keep a list of what she was planting in each row !!

BB mostly just loved playing in the soft dirt.
We got all the early vegetables in the ground to wait for rain !!
We came home in time to watch Survivor on TV while I iced cakes and got things ready for market.
I did paperwork and payed bills tonight making it a late to bed night.
I don't know if it was the dust from the garden or the late night figures bouncing before my eyes while I did paperwork but just as I got out of the bath I started seeing migraine fissures across my eyes, uggggg !!!
I heated a hot pack in the micro while taking a couple tylenol and grabbed a frozen pack from the freezer and headed to bed.
I am forever grateful to have found this  hot/cold treatment because as I lay in the darkness with the heated pack on for a few minutes then switched to the cold pack I could actually watch the fissures slowly disappear from my vision. All this extended my late night and the last time I looked at the clock after the fissures were gone it said 1:05am.
As you may have guessed this blog post was written Thursday and back dated.
Thankful tonight for the love of a merciful Savior and the blessings of each day that remind me continuously how much He loves me.
God Bless and Good Night

MISSING DOLLY and ME IN 1956

Got an early morning unexpected workout today. After g-daughter got here at 7am I put her in bed with me and she went right back to sleep and we snoozed for about another hour. When she woke up I carried her to the living room and put her in the entertainment saucer while I let the dogs out for their morning bathroom duties.
While they were out I came back inside and found g-daughter needed a diaper change .
After that I went to get  Bernie and Dolly back inside. Bernie came running from below the house when I called but no Dolly. If I haven't mentioned this before Dolly is completely blinded now by cataracts over both eyes. The vet says at her age surgery is not a good idea and she usually does fine in her familiar surroundings. Not today !!!
Still in my pj's I go out and make a circle around the house calling her name but no sign of her anywhere. I came inside to check on g-daughter and get dressed. Back outside I hurried down the driveway to #1 son's house as I heard his dogs barking. I walked/ran all the way to the highway but still no sign of Dolly.
Breathless and back in my yard I once again checked on g-daughter then circled the house and went to the barn and garden, still no Dolly. It was if she had vanished !!
In a last ditch effort that was highly unlikely I hurried over the hill to my nephew, Marks house. His house has a very high rocky bank behind it and only one little path to get to his back yard. When I walked out on the rock bank out of the corner of my eye I saw Dolly headed down his driveway at a quick pace. I jumped through the narrow opening to the yard and ran to catch her.
This is her lucky day !!!!!  I have however no earthly idea how she got down that rocky bank or through than narrow path. She had no signs of a bad fall or scratches from the brambles that fill the woods between out houses.
As I huffed and puffed back to my house carrying her I thought this is not the day that God chose for Dolly to die that is the only way I she got to where she was and the only way I would have went over there looking for her.
G-daughter was happily jumping to the music of Sesame Street and smiling when I came in the door completely oblivious to anything that was going on,( oh to be a child again).
I did chores and then g-daughter and I had our breakfast , late but better than never !!!
We went downstairs so she could play in her new walker while I cut out and sewed up these 2 jean aprons.

Back upstairs we had lunch. I had a salad and grilled chicken breast and she had mac and cheese with vegies baby food.  Mine was pretty good and she loved hers !!
She shortly went down for her nap and I did housework while she slept for a good 2 hour nap.
#1 son  closed on the sale of his doublewide to my nephew Mark at 4:00 this afternoon so g-daughter got some extra time to sit on the porch with me and talk to the birds and bees.
When mom got here she and g-son and Pawpaw had fun playing a game of throwing the ball on the porch roof and catching it before it hit the ground. G-daughter thought this game was hilarious.

After they left hubbie and I constructed a little fence enclosure in the back yard out of some garden border fencing for Dolly to go out in the morning inside of. (no more morning runs for me !)
We did chores then he mowed the lawn. There was some high spots that needed cutting but for the most part this dry weather is stopping anything from growing at all even the lawn grass.
I got the 2 lawn lounge chairs out of the shed while he had the mower out and got them set up in the firepit patio.
We came inside and relaxed for a while before bedtime for a nice quiet night.
D-in-love sent me this pic of g-daughter and one of their dogs named Marley that is so good with kids.
G-daughter is going to be an animal lover like the rest of us it looks like !!
To continue the decade April pics these are dated April 1956 and are of me at the age of 20 months.

Grateful for all the blessings of this day and for His  devine help in finding little blind Dolly this morning.
God Bless and Good Night
