A cloudy cool market day was surprisingly busy today. But it is Mother's Day weekend !
Daughter met hubbie and I there and helped me until her and hubbie went to haul a couple loads of mulch and spread it on a bank at her house to keep it from washing.
I sold out of everything for both of us a little early, so I left. I went over to the wake my friend was having for her father. I met some interesting people and everyone talked about what a loving, giving man he was. This is a verse written by George Bernard Shaw that fit the description I was given of him. Unfortunately I never met Luke.
After we made plans to catch up with each other next week before she heads back to Florida I left to head home.
I stopped by a local strawberry farm for some fresh berries, she said next week might be the end for their fruit.
Hubbie was bush hogging the upper pasture when I got here. It looked like it might rain any minute and the low 60's temperature made it feel really cool. So I spent the afternoon snuggled in the sunroom with my 4-legged kids watching my feathered friends.
This is Mrs. Brown Headed Cowbird. I hope she didn't disrupt too many of the other birds nest this year with her eggs!
There is always some of these Cardinals around my feeders.
And as the evening got later this guy made an appearance. I think these Indigo Buntings are one of the prettiest birds that visit my yard.
As I did evening chores I added some extra wind and rain shields to one of the chicken boxes. I took all the cool weather covers off everything in April when we were having summer like temps now we get early spring temperatures !!??
May may be the first month this year that comes in as average or maybe below average in temperatures.
This map shows all the states that were above normal for the first 4 months of 2012. North Carolina was among the "much above average" range.
It is 58 at 11:30 so it will be in the upper 40's by early morning. A couple weeks ago I was refusing to turn my air-conditioning on, now I might be considering turning the heat back on !!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOMS OUT THERE ! I hope each one has a wonderful , blessing filled day tomorrow.
Good Night and God Bless.

Hi Marilyn, We came through your town today---and 'tried' to find the market. I wanted to surprise you. However, we couldn't find it. Sometime--give me specific directions or an address... We drove all around ---but just must have missed it..
BUT--you may have been gone by then anyhow since it was about 1 p.m. I think.... One of these days, we'll get to meet you..
Happy Mother's Day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Have a wonderful Mother's Day
