HISTORIC SAN WAN PUERTO RICO

Today is hubbie's favorite day as we get to tour San Wan, Puerto Rico and it's historic forts.

This is our entire group consisting of son-in-love's mom and dad, 2 of his brothers and their families, his sister and her family and some friends of those families.
We made our way through the forts in the blistering sunshine and steep climbs to view the city.

We explored the old town and again the Christmas décor looked odd in this heat.

This manger scene with flowers blooming around it seemed really odd but I thought this is probably more like what it was really like for the birth of Jesus.
We walked the streets including the one called umbrella street which was minus it's umbrellas at this time and was covered with this flag honoring a special time in Puerto Rico history.

This is a painting of the umbrellas covering the street that a vendor was offering for sale.
There was many sites to be seen in the streets as we walked.

Hubbie explores an old cistern used to catch rain water.
We had to take breaks in the heat of this day and were thankful for a light shower of rain that cooled us off.
We ate in a little restaurant in the town. I had some local fried cheese which was very good and a rice dish that was also delicious. Most of our party had already headed back to the ship in the heat and this was all that left at lunch time.
These pigeons were everywhere.
And we saw a lot of hurricane damage also.
These two pooped out after lunch.
Once again we got back on the ship in time to watch a beautiful sunset as we were escorted back out to sea by machine gun equipped coast guard boats and boats that guided us into the deep water channels.

Didn't make it to dinner again tonight but was able to eat some fruit later after laying down for a while.
I felt like walking around with daughter and the girls to watch the large Christmas tree get lighted tonight.
Got to talk to this little girl tonight and got to tell her how much we miss her. RL said she missed IR so much and I know IR misses her. Other g-ma is filling in for us this week in a trade off for when she goes on her cruise in January.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

Can't decide which Island I like better St. Thomas or Puerto Rico. The colors of the water are breath-taking. The girls look so happy. Blessings
