I think this was the coldest morning so far but still pretty mild for the middle of December.
The thermometer in the van on our way to school at 8:00.
The frost was heavy and Jack Frost's artistry was evident all around.
The cattle looked cold in the frosty pasture.
But the bright sunshine soon melted all the icy crystals away turning a cold morning into a 54 degree afternoon.
After morning chores ,breakfast, devotions and exercise I baked 6 caramel and 3 coconut cakes before lunch.
When I turned the news on during lunch I heard the dreadful news of another mass shooting spree. This one sadly was in an elementary school in Connecticut. Unbelievably a masked gunman who turned out to be the 24 year old son of one of the teachers walked in and killed 26 people, 20 children. This is so sad and makes me wonder what the world we live in is coming to.
Scared children are hurried to safety.
After lunch I iced 6 caramel cakes and went downstairs to package all the last harvest of herbs I've had drying.
Most of the ones I've took to market have sold so it is good to have a nice variety to re-stock.
Still not feeling quite up to par this afternoon I decided to rest on the couch in the quite house with just me,Bernie and Dolly. It was really nice to listen to the silence and silently pray for the folks in Connecticut who lost their precious children in this mornings senseless shooting spree.
After evening chores I iced more caramel and coconut cakes while listening to daughter's teams basketball game on the radio. Her team won so she will be happy.
I am still in disbelief tonight of the school shooting each time I listen to the news I get chills just thinking about all those families who are burying their children instead of celebrating Christmas with them this year. God help them and be with them in this unimaginable grief.
A sad Good Night and sincere wish that God will Bless these folks with comfort.

Yes, that tragedy is just horrible... Killing innocent children is beyond EVIL... Unbelievable! Makes me wonder also what is happening in our country/world... We all need to turn to God.
Prayers for those families...
Hugs,
Betsy
This was a tragedy.
What I fear now is the increased legislation that will rise from it.
