FOX REPELLANT IDEAS NEEDED

Friday, yay !!!   Up to get the kid off to schools. hubbie took g-son and I did chores then took RL to pre-school.
I came home and had breakfast , then started baking cakes. I baked 6 caramel and 2 pound cakes. The weather folks are using the "s" word in the forecast for tonight and in the morning so market will probably be dead .
These sisters are starting to act more and more like sisters as they already are pushing each other, even CA tries to push IR out of her way.

The snowflakes falling caught IR's attention this afternoon and had her mesmerized for a long time.

Daughter has spent the last two days at the Crown Plaza hotel in Asheville with some of her high school students and some other teachers at the "leader in me" symposium . Daughter is in the center in the dark sweater.
After she picked the girls up hubbie and I got chores done and then went looking around the pastures for the fox den our nightly visitor might be hiding out in but we didn't find anything.
Thankfully he hasn't gotten another of the 4 guineas I have left but it hasn't been for lack of trying as he has been back every night. We put up a motion light  but it has had no effect on him as he searches under the roosting tree for a way to get another guinea that is roosting in the top of the tree.

I am adding an old transistor radio under the tree tonight with the motion light.  If anyone has any other ideas for fox repellant please let me know. We have tried each day since the first guinea was taken to catch the remainder of the guineas and put them in a safe place but they are not having being caught and refuse to come back inside their old house.
We came inside and I iced my caramel cakes then caught up my blog post. My old computer evidently periodically will refuse to download pictures so that is why my blog post got behind once again. Tonight was the magic night and everything loaded as it should have over the last 3 days.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

SLOW MARKET DAY

Heard the familiar sound of all 5 grandkids this morning. Hubbie took g-son to school and I got chores done in a blowing snow.
As RL and IR and I made out way to pre-school the snow was coming down harder and harder but the ground is too warm for it to stick even with the 30 degree temperatures.
I dropped both girls at pre-school and then met hubbie and CA at market.
I changed out my Valentine décor for St Patricks Day green today before I set out my cakes since there was no customers to be seen in market early today.

I was certainly correct about a slow market day as there was absolutely no customers in market .
I took care of some market business and made the deposit for the month before leaving to pick up IR at pre-school.
She had another good day and was happily talking about her friends and what she did today at school.
We picked up lunch at McDonalds on the way back to market.
CA was napping when we got back to market and hubbie had sold the first items of the day while I was gone.
IR ate her lunch and then CA woke up to have her bottle.  Sue the market manager always likes to feed her so she gave her the bottle while hubbie put away all the Christmas decorations Sue had gone through this morning.
I sold a few more things this afternoon and made it an okay day thankfully.
The snow had stopped earlier and the sun came out but the wind and temps getting only into the upper 30's made for a pretty raw day.
We all left at closing time, IR wanted to go with me and CA went with hubbie. I made stops at the bank where IR got stickers and then mailed the bills at the PO on our way to Ingles. IR loves to ride in these car buggies and she was very relaxed today riding around.
She wanted some watermelon slices for her reward for being good today so she definitely got some.

We got home and got everything unloaded and put away then IR enjoyed her watermelon which she kept giving a thumbs up for.
After daughter picked the girls up hubbie and I did chores. I checked the game camera out that I had put near the roosting tree where the last 4 guineas roost and saw the fox that was enjoying guinea dinners . We put up a motion light under the tree in hopes the light flashing on will scare the predator off and save the last 4 guineas. I try to get the guineas to go up in their old house each night but they refuse to go and fly back to their favorite roosting tree.
We came inside and I finished our taxes to complete the task for another year.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

YEARLY MAMMOGRAM

Only g-son and RL this morning as Connie came to stay with IR and CA today at their house. Hubbie took g-son to school and I get chores done.  There is a very thick fog this morning.

Hubbie got ready and went with me this morning as we have a pretty busy day ahead of us today and needed to get an early start on it.
We made our first stop at Lowes to see if they had gotten any of the washers I wanted in. There was still an empty spot on the floor where they are supposed to be but the clerk that came to help us said they had 2 of them in the back. This is the last day of the sale so they probably were waiting to put them out until after the sale. It was on sale for $658 down from $999.

We bought one of them and scheduled a delivery for this coming Sunday which was the only available date for a couple weeks.
We left there and stopped in Aldi for groceries and baking supplies and made a stop at Ingles.
We came home and put things away and got all the cold things in the frig then away we went again.
Hubbie needed to look for some new boots so he has been wanting to go the discount boot barn for  awhile. He didn't find any boots he liked but did get a very comfortable pair of new tennis shoes. Of course I found a pair of my favorite Alegria shoes on sale so I came home with a pair of summer sandals and a pair of on sale knee socks.  Hubbie also got some diabetic socks to see if they would help the tinkling foot pain he has when he wears any other sock.
He has neuropathy in his feet and has been having trouble finding socks and shoes that don't make his feet ache.
I had my regularly scheduled mammogram appointment at 1:00 today so we headed there after the boot barn.
Very happy to get a good report on this year's mammogram. Thank you Lord !!
Hubbie and I went to Schlotzsky's to have a quick late lunch then we headed home.
Hubbie went outside to work in his wood pile and I got our taxes started while the house was quiet.
We got chores done then I came inside and got the weekly paperwork and bill paying done for the week.
Then while I watched Survivor on TV I baked 2 pound cakes and a pan of brownies.
Market will be slow tomorrow I'm sure because there is snow in the weather forecast for in the morning.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for a good report from my mammogram for another year.
God Bless and Good Night

SCHOOL DAY , TAX DAY

All the kids here early this morning. Hubbie took g-son to school, I did morning chores and discovered another of my guineas is missing. We didn't hear any commotion last night so whatever got it was quiet and quick.
I took both girls to per-school today and this is IR's day for snacks and she proudly carried the pretzel sticks in to her teachers.

I came home and had breakfast then did some tax work while CA napped. It is a cloudy drizzly morning but the sun is supposed to make an appearance after lunch hopefully.
IR was happily watching for me with all her friends today.

Hubbie and CA were with me and we all headed to our regular stop at McDonalds. RL and IR always eat so good here and they have a lot of fun plus the workers here are so nice to the girls. They even put M&M's in their ice cream cups today.

We left there and drove through Jackson Park to check out the playgrounds there.  We let the girls slide and swing for a few minutes but were very surprised at the condition on the equipment there as there was holes in most of the slides and the swings looked to be ready to cut through the brackets with each swing. It was also very wet and muddy so we didn't stay long at all.
We came home and CA took a nap while the bigger girls played in the playroom.
After the girls were picked up hubbie and I got our chores done. We looked around in the upper pasture for evidence of the missing guinea and found some feathers but not enough that we thought that was where it was eaten.
I took a long walk into the bottom pastures but didn't find anything there but lots of standing water from all the rain we've had and a beautiful colorful sunset.  The eastern sky was colorful also.
But the western sky got prettier and prettier !!

I spent the evening finishing up #2 son and Tif's taxes.  Only ours left to go in this month I call tax month.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS

"Rainy days and Mondays always get me down" this song came to mind first thing this morning as I woke up to the sound of rain hitting the metal roof.
This song lyric is especially true when their on the same day !!!
Hubbie took g-son to school then I got to have a slower morning as RL's pre-school had to close today due to water issues.
After chores and breakfast with RL and IR they helped get laundry gathered and got a load started.
I think they just like to help with the laundry so they get to go up and down the stairs.
I did laundry alternately playing with the girls.

The washer had a bad spin day today so I think I definitely need a new one. It's just finding time to go shopping for one.
After lunch I had to go to the Post Office to mail the bills I didn't get mailed last Thursday so RL and IR went along with me so CA could have her afternoon bottle and get a nap .
The girls wanted to do some "mall walking" while we were at the PO so I let them get some exercise in the near empty mall.

Then on the way home we stopped by Krispy Kreme for donuts iced with strawberry icing and rainbow sprinkles. I for got to take a pic before the donuts were almost gone.

After we got back EL and BB came over while their mom hosted a Norwex party and the four of them had a great time playing together.

RL, IR and CA all went home and EL and BB settled down to watch a movie on TV while hubbie and I took turns getting chores done.
I lost one of my guineas last night to one of our night time predators so I took some extra time tonight and put them up in their old house so they would be safe for at least another night. I don't know if they will ever go back in at night again to take a chance on getting shut up but at least I don't have to worry about them tonight.
Aa came after EL and BB when I got back in the house.
Hubbie and I spent this evening resting.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

PARK PLAY SUNDAY

Up early for a Sunday morning to get a ham in the oven for lunch. After I finished chores I grabbed a cup of coffee while I was getting things together to get a broccoli and rice casserole in the oven.
Hubbie put potatoes on the stove to cook before we left also.
After church everyone made it to lunch today #1 son's family, #2 son and d-in-love Tif, daughter's family and Aa's family.
Everyone got to catch up and we got to here all about Aa's family's Disney World trip.
After we ate we decided to take advantage of this beautiful sunny warm day and make a trip to Fletcher park to let the kids play and get some much needed exercise.
Everyone went home, changed out of church clothes and met at the park. The playground was pretty crowded so we found an out of the way trail in the back of the park that very few folks were on.

G-son had his bike and went with son-in-love on his run. They found this railroad and g-son looks like he is having a wonderful time.

We walked a long way and all the kids were great . EL rode her bike all the way, BB rode is bike part time and ran part time, RL rode on the back of IR's push bike part of the way and ran part way and IR did the same , CA rode in her stroller awake all the way on our walk.
We went back to the playground which was a little less crowded now and let the kids swing and slide for a little while.

We left there and headed home to get chores done.
Hubbie and I are both super tired after that long walk so we relaxed for the rest of the evening.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the wonderful family God choose for me.
God Bless and Good Night

BUSY SATURDAY

Another 20 degree morning with thick ice on all the water pans this morning as I got chores done.
We made it to market a little early this morning and daughter and the girls came in right behind.
We got set up and alternated taking care of the girls and watching our table.  Business was slow as expected but we are thankful for all we did sell.
Son-in-love came in and stayed awhile then he and daughter went to Hot Dog World to pick up lunch and then home for the afternoon.
#1 son went to Urgent Care this morning with stomach pain that has been bothering him since last week end and they scheduled him for  an ultrasound at 6:00 tonight since he needs to not have eaten anything for 6 hours before the test.
Hubbie left market to get home so he would be home if RL and g-son needed to stay with him this afternoon if something happened and son needed to go back to the hospital earlier.
I came home at closing time and made a stop at Ingles for supplies for a broccoli casserole for lunch tomorrow.
I came home and hubbie helped me get unloaded.   Daughter called and said one of our neighbors found her brother dead this morning after he had spent the last couple nights in the hospital after being admitted Tuesday night with chest pains. They didn't find anything wrong with his heart and sent him home yesterday morning from the hospital. He got home at 10:00 yesterday morning and died between 5:00-9:00 last night of a massive heart attack. Less than 12 hours after his heart was declared healthy????
This neighbor is the one who sold daughter some land to build her house on and was my childhood friend all the way through school.
Daughter called Ingles to see if they would make us a cold cut tray and they worked with us and within an hour hubbie and I picked up a very nice cold cut tray and also bought vegetable and fruit trays to go along with a couple loaves of daughter's sour dough breads and a caramel cake.
Hubbie and I finished chores at Aa's and her at home and then headed over to daughters.
#1 son and d-in-love had dropped RL and g-son off over there on their way to Mission Hospital for the ultrasound.
Daughter and I took all the food over to Rita's house and had a nice visit. Rita was pretty upset but seemed to calm down as we talked.
We went back to daughters and then brought g-son and RL home with us to have our supper.
The news from the hospital was that son's gall bladder and all his other organs on the ultrasound looked fine and all his bloodwork was normal . That was good news to hear but now there is still a puzzle of what is causing son's pain.
They came home and picked up g-son and RL and hubbie and I rested the remainder of the evening.
Since I don't have any pics today with all the busy activities these are some birds in the snow on last Thursday.

Thankful for the blessings of this day and praying for Rita and her family as they go through the loss of her brother, Johnny.
God Bless and Good Night
