LATE BIRTHDAY DINNER

Team spirit day at pre-school for RL today and daughter brought her a little UNC cheer leader outfit to wear and she was so cute.

When we got to pre-school a couple of her classmates joined her at the "ACC" teams table !!!
I came home to have breakfast with IR while hubbie did his chores outside. There is a heavy frost this morning in the 28 degree coolness.

I baked this morning since we have plans for this evening. I baked 2 pound cakes and a pan of brownies thinking tomorrow will be a slow sales day.
When the cakes were out of the ovens hubbie, IR and I had an early lunch since IR was getting tired and then we made a trip to Fletcher feed to restock out chicken feed supply. We also bought 50 pounds of Kennebec seed potatoes and 10 pounds of early red Pontiac potatoes plus some onion sets for when the soil warms up some hopefully soon we will be ready to get these early crops in the ground.
IR slept through the entire trip and we got everything unloaded and put away and she still slept when hubbie carried her in and layed her on the couch.
I worked quietly around inside while she slept and hubbie collected all our trash and recyclables .
Daughter came in while IR was still sleeping and waited for her to wake up while hubbie and I got our chores all done early.
We are going to the Flat Rock Wood Room restaurant to eat out with other family members for daughter's 34th birthday which was yesterday.
I was very disappointed at my meal tonight as this place usually has great food but tonight the chicken on my cobb salad was cold and tasted like it had just been in the freezer. The wood smoked olives we ordered for appetizers were very small olives from a jar and tasted of strong liquid smoke.
Hubbie said the beans with his pork tasted like liquid smoke also and the fries that everyone had were soggy and didn't taste fresh. Needless to say this place definitely isn't at the top of our favorite places to eat anymore.
Hubbie and I had rode with daughter so she dropped us off and we finished chores when we got home.
We watched Survivor on TV then I did weekly paperwork and paid bills before getting things all packed up for market.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and thankful for a wonderful Savior .

HAPPY #34 TO DAUGHTER AND ANOTHER COLD TRACK MEET DAY

Another cloudy cool morning as I got out to get the chores done. I took EL to pre-school on this "super hero" dress up day. Re went as one of her favorite cartoon heroes, Sky of Paw Patrol and she looked really cute in her costume this morning.

I came home and had breakfast with IR and then we played while hubbie got some outside chores he needed to do done.
Re called and had better luck this morning with another more baby goats being born as this mama had 4 and 3 of them are living and doing okay. This is the tiniest little buck that BB is cuddling.
When hubbie came inside I did my ironing and then it was time to pick up RL.
She wanted to come home and have spaghetti for lunch so with IR already asleep we came straight home. RL made sure IR woke up when we got here and they both ate a good lunch of spaghetti.
IR is always so glad to have RL here and to share her adventures with her.
The clouds have hung around all day and the temperature has struggled to reach 50 degrees today with a northerly breeze.
G-son had a track meet at East Henderson High school this evening and we are dropping IR off at school with daughter and taking RL with us to meet d-in-love at the track meet.
It is a really chilly cloudy evening and another cold track meet evening so daughter thought it best to keep an already runny nosed IR at home.
G-son did really good in both the long jump.

And the triple jump with his longest jump yet of almost 29 feet..

Today he was also ask to do the high jump, which he has never practiced and he did really good getting to the third round before knocking the pole off in three jumps.

#2 son did the high jump in high school and was really good at it.
We didn't get home until after 7:00 and felt like winter had made a return as we got chores done in winter cover-alls, gloves and hats.
Happy 34th Birthday to daughter today as she gets another year older. We were supposed to go out for dinner this evening to celebrate but she didn't have a very good start to her birthday either as she woke up a little after midnight with a splitting headache and sick at her stomach. So we put her birthday dinner on hold. She went to work this morning but looked really pale and worn out.
Thankful for all the blessings of this day.

DOCTOR RL and HAPPY 33rd TO RE

Monday morning again !!!  Today is cloudy and mild at 41 degrees this morning.  I got chores done and took RL to pre-school. Today at her pre-school is career day and RL decided she wanted to  grow up to be a doctor after her original idea of a witch got shot down by mom !!!

All of the teachers and the kids were all dressed up today and they all looked very grown up.
I came home and had breakfast with IR while hubbie took care of the dogs.
I got laundry gathered and started a load to wash while I put away all of last weeks.
Only one load finished before it was time to go pick up RL.
IR slept on the way to pick her up and then we stopped and had lunch at Burger King on the way home. We thought about going to the park to play but rain started to sprinkle while we ate lunch so we came home.
I got more laundry started and had a light lunch with hubbie while the girls watched TV. Hubbie played with them while I did more laundry and then after they both got really tired I sat with RL and he held IR until they both went to sleep for an afternoon nap.
They woke up just in time for their mom's to take them home.
By this time the rain was pretty steadily coming down outside. Hubbie and I decided to have an early supper while we waited for a break in the rain. I roasted some Brussel Sprouts and made some coconut jasmine rice and hubbie had some chicken nuggets to go with his.
My appetite is still lacking because of this head cold still hanging on. I filled the diffuser with eucalyptus oil this afternoon while the kids were sleeping because they both have stuffy noses also and it made a difference in the way I can breath tonight for sure. My head feels clearer than it has in a week tonight thankfully.
We got chores done in a lighter rain and there was 3/10ths inch in the gauge this evening.
Hubbie and I both spent a pretty boring evening relaxing and watching American Idol on TV.
Happy 33rd birthday to Re today, as her birthday didn't start off very well this morning when she discovered one of her goats that wasn't in the barn stalls had delivered 3 unexpected kids and they were all cold and dead by the time Re found them. That's life and death in the farming world !!
Thankful for the blessings of this day .

MARCH MADNESS SUNDAY

A beautiful spring feeling morning today as I get chores done and take time to watch the Guinea hens searching for insects in the grass.
We went to church and came home to have a spaghetti lunch with #1 son and g-son as everyone else had other plans today.
After they left hubbie and I spent a restful afternoon and evening watching March madness basketball games as 3 of our ACC teams punch their tickets to the sweet sixteen . UNC defeated Washington  then Duke barely squeaked out a 1 point win over UCF and Virginia won over Oklahoma.
We got chores done and I caught up my blog post that I needed to add pics to and publish . I have been under the weather all week and have actually wrote the post on my laptop from the couch but I have to add pics and post on my desktop so I caught that up tonight.
I am hoping this coming week is going to be a better one for me as I still feel like my energy could be much better and my head is still stuffed up but I am thankful that each day seems to be better than the one before.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

WORKDAY AT DAUGHTERS AND 2009 MEMORIES

Got to sleep in for an extra hour this morning before getting chores done and getting ready for market.
Hubbie helped me get set up and then left early to get over to daughter's and help #1 son who was finally getting to finish grade her and get grass sowed in her yard.
Market was pretty good today with more shoppers out on a pretty and warm day.
I left market a little late after talking with the other board members about a couple things and then made a stop at Aldi to pick up groceries and baking supplies for next week.
I stopped by daughter's to check on the progress of the work and helped pick up rocks and sticks all around the yard while hubbie and son seeded and fertilized.
We all came home and hubbie and I watched the news before chore time this evening.
I am still feeling pretty wiped out and my head is still really stuffed up so I was glad to have an evening to just put my feet up tonight.
Back in March of 2009 there was many memories made some good some not so good but it was a long full month for our family.
On March 2,2009   we received the biggest snowfall of the season and g-son got to get a little sledding in.

When I look at some of these old pics they remind me of past automobiles we have had. In these snowy pics there is #2 son's pick-up truck and hubbie's Honda Accord...
And daughter's Jeep Cherokee that she had for years and loved.

These pics remind me of the cattle we had back them and that we had just recently bought 6 Holstein calves from a co-worker of hubbie and one of them had severely contracted tendons in both of his front feet so we had put him back on the bottle.
We also had other calves and our old Snowball the cow watched over all of them.

Hubbie's mother had been in the hospital in February with a couple stokes and had been transferred to Hospice by the first of March. She passed away on March 4th of that year leaving hubbie's father alone.

This is Pawpaw with all his grown grandkids.
 Pawpaw with grandsons.
My #1 and #2 son.
Pastor Mike with #1 son and d-in-love.
Daughter and aunt Sandy.
In these photos from that month I am reminded of these loyal 4 legged kids that were in very good health in those years.
Dolly..... the teacup poodle.....
Dolly and Bernie..... the Havanese…..
Sadie the Australian Shepherd.....
There was fun to be had that month also when the weather warmed and the March winds blew it was kite flying time and Katelyn , daughter's "little sister" loved to entertain g-son.

And in other special memories from that month the little calf with the contracted tendons made a remarkable complete recovery and became a special pet.

Wonderful memories from a very up and down month back in March of 2009 that seems like it was only yesterday and not 10 years ago !!!
Thankful for the blessings in these memories and for the wonderful blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night.
