DAY #3 ON ISLE OF PALMS and HAPPY #65 TO ME

We all got up a little earlier this morning to head out to have a day in Charleston . We found out from our very nice waiter last night that there is a water taxi that takes you from this island to the Charleston water front for only $12 each adults and kids are free. We figured that was better than driving and trying to find parking in Charleston and paying a big fee there for parking a couple vehicles plus the kids would all love a boat ride across the inlet.

EL wanted badly to see some dolphins but we weren't lucky enough to see any.
We got off the boat 15 minutes later and walked around the waterfront letting the kids get cooled off in the big fountains that were there.

D-in-love's mom and boyfriend met us there and walked around with us as we shopped in the old market place and along the streets of downtown.

We didn't get to do the carriage rides this year as the prices were significantly higher and it was such a hot day.

We ate at the Charleston Crab House , the same place we ate last year and it was very good once a gain.
RL, EL and BB ate with pawpaw and me so we felt very special that they wanted to sit with us.
And yes I changed tops as my first one got soaked with sweat I found this really loose flowy one and it was much cooler to finish the day.

After we ate we did a little more walking around then headed back to the water taxi spot in the heat of the day all drenched with sweat and needing to sit awhile.
We rode the taxi for a couple pick ups to let the kids enjoy the ride and cool breeze off the water felt so good.

When we arrived back at our cars it felt really good to get in the air conditioning once again.

We made a stop at Target and then came back to the cabins to have dinner together in our room.
Re went to pick up wings from the place we ate at Monday night called Dingys because tonight was "wing night" and they were on sale and they were very good.
We cooked squash and had fresh vegetables to go with them for a good light supper after a long tiring day and a good lunch.
We took the kids all down to the pool for a night swim then G-son who is spending the night with us tonight and hubbie and me finished the night out playing Uno .

This has been a very good vacation and I really hate cutting it short to leave in the morning but I need to get home so I can have all day Friday to catch my baking up.
And last but not least I turned 65 today and would say I certainly had a wonderful birthday and the facetime call from IR singing me a happy birthday was a perfect way to end the day.
They have had a good time at Carolina beach with son-in-love's brother and his family this week.

Thankful for all the blessings of this day and praying for traveling mercies on our trip home tomorrow.
God Bless and Good Night

DAY #2 ON ISLE OF PALMS

Up to day #2 on Isle of Palms and it is a beautiful day but feels like it is definitely going to be a hot one. Our cabin faces east so the morning sun hits our deck and we tried to sit outside and have our coffee and tea this morning but it was too hot.
After breakfast we headed out to the beach with all the family. The kids had a great fun time in the ocean and on the beach building sand castles and just enjoying each other.

We stayed on the beach until about 2:00 depleting the snacks we brought with us. Hubbie and I came inside for a BLT sandwich for a late lunch.
After we ate we went back out and walked out on the private pier that is owned by the Sea Cabins.

It is a pretty short pier but really nice and all these Sea Gulls thought it was the perfect resting spot and even this lone Pigeon wasn't about to be moved off his resting space. We were the only ones on the pier besides the birds.

We took a short walk on the crowded beach and came back to the cabin. I love the shorter drive down here and the convenience of having everything we need in walking distance but this is what takes some getting used to for me, this sea of umbrellas that cover the beach in both directions is something we haven't seen in years until we started coming here last year.

We got ready to go out to eat dinner with everyone and were able to walk over to the Acme restaurant that opens at 5:00 and get in pretty much immediately which was a surprise for us. This is a very good and popular place to eat here and is always a wait to get in but we lucked up today.

Everyone was very happy with their food and it was very good as usual. I had the "Whistle Stop" which was sautéed shrimp over fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese grits, yummy !!!
We walked back to the county park that is beside the Sea Cabins and let the kids play for awhile.
These two just started holding hands as they walked without any encouragement !!

Re and d-in-love went shopping and the rest of us came back to the pool to let the kids swim until bedtime.

We got to facetime IR and CA tonight and they also had a fun day on Carolina Beach.

Thankful for the blessings of this day .
God Bless and Good Night
