ROUTINE ERRAND DAY WEDNESDAY

Up to greet all 3 grand girls this morning who were all already loud and rowdy early today. I got chores done and then we had breakfast before loading up to make a cake delivery on our way to run weekly errands today. After the delivery we made stops at the dump / recycle center, Ingles, Sav mor, the library, our bank and then we picked up lunches on the way home.   The girls had the chicken poppers and bread sticks again for lunch and they love these.   CA who had slept the entire trip woke up just in time to eat lunch with us.                                                                                                                                After we ate the girls played around me in the kitchen while I baked caramel and chocolate cakes.  After they were done we payed in the living room until it was time for them to leave.                                Hubbie and I went out to get some outside work done before chore time today.  I cleaned out the Silkie house which is the last house to get cleaned before cold weather sets in.  I got chores done and then we covered all the winter garden and beds and I brought a fresh broccoli head in for some salad for supper.      I had to keep opening the silkie lot gate to let the 2 guineas back in the lot several times after they flew out of the lot. Guineas are very sensitive and aware of any change in their surroundings and they have been staying with the silkies in their house every night. With the new shavings in the house very noticeable they had a hard time going into the house tonight. They finally went but it was almost completely dark when they did. Guineas are very interesting birds to have around.                                  We came inside and I made a broccoli salad for supper and then I iced my cakes and got them put away, waiting on delivery dates.                                                                                                                              Thankful for the blessings of this day.                                                                                                           God Bless and Good Night

PERFECT LINE DRYING DAY

Up to greet IR and CA only this morning as RL's other g-ma is with her today.  It is a very frosty morning with a temperature in the upper 20's this morning.

I got chores done and then we had breakfast. After the girls played while I gathered the furniture and bed covers and the throw rugs that I had taken up at the beginning of the month and loaded them in the Honda.  It is a bit too cool and windy this morning for a walk anywhere so we headed out to the laundry to drop put the covers and rugs in machines. Then we went to pick up our Walmart curbside order and get some Cook Out lunch for IR and CA since the schools were giving out hamburgers that they don't like.  We stopped back by the laundry and picked up our washed covers and rugs.  CA had slept the entire trip and was still sleeping when we got home so IR helped carry groceries in and get them put away. CA continued her nap on the couch while IR and hubbie ate lunch and I went outside to hang the laundry on the clothes line. It is a perfect drying day with sunshine and wind.   I got places to hang everything but 1 cover so I put that one in the dryer.

I am thankful for a beautiful day !!!                                                                                                              I went up to my raised beds and gathered some fresh lettuce, chard and carrots for my lunch time salad.   CA finally woke up and had her lunch with me.  After we ate the girls played the afternoon away.          They had an extended stay today as daughter had a consult appointment for the basil cell cancer spot on her face after school and the girls are staying until son-in-love gets off work.  IR fell asleep in my recliner and had to be woke up to go home when her dad called.   Hubbie took them home while I gathered the laundry off the clothes line.  Everything smells so fresh !!!                                                    I also cleaned out the pullet's house tonight and discovered I think another rooster in there that I thought was one of the younger pullets.  Still am not sure maybe I can hang around on mornings and see if it crows.  I got chores done and covered all the vegetables up once again for an even colder predicted night tonight.                                                                                                                                                  I had supper and then iced cakes and got things ready for tomorrow's errand day.                                        Thankful for the blessings of this day.                                                                                                        God Bless and Good Night

BEAUTIFULL NOVEMBER MONDAY

Up to greet all the grandkids to get this new week started. Hubbie took g-son to school while the girls and I snuggled to stay warm on this upper 30's morning.  When hubbie returned I went out to get the chores done and then we all had breakfast.   I saw these magnetic colorful blocks in one of the early black Friday sales and ordered them for the girls and they have really been playing with them this morning.

About mid morning the sun was shinning so beautifully not to get out and enjoy it so we loaded up and went over to Berkley park to walk. The girls were all excited but CA went to sleep on the way there and slept through the whole walk in the stroller.

It was a little windy but felt good to be outside exploring.                                                                           We picked up lunch on the way home and the girls were really hungry and ate all their food and more so that was worth the walk.                                                                                                                           RL and IR got the blocks back out and played quietly letting CA continue her nap.                                  I got laundry started and did 3 loads between playing with the girls this afternoon.                                    After they all left I headed up to the chicken coops to start cleaning out houses for winter. I got the biggest older hens house cleaned out and re-bedded so they will be warmer.                                               Hubbie worked some on his wood pile and then we both got chores done and put the covers back on our winter garden.                                                                                                                                          We came inside at dark to have supper of yesterday's leftover chicken and rice and then we watched the news. The latest hurricane news is not good for central America as Iota has become a cat 5 devastating storm and will hit the same area that Eta hit a couple weeks ago. I pray for the people in this storm's path.

I noticed about 8:00 tonight that the house started feeling really cool . We always turn our heat pump off on these warmer 60's sunny days but it usually doesn't need to be turned on until bedtime. When I looked at the outside thermometer it said it is already 37 degrees outside on a night that is predicted to only get to 32 degrees ???    I am glad we covered our gardens because unless it clouds up which isn't predicted it will get much colder than 32 I predict !!!   Oh well it is time for some colder weather to hang around.                                                                                                                                                  Thankful for all the blessings of this day and thankful for our health right now especially.                         God Bless and Good Night

RESTFULL SUNDAY

Days like this is when I feel like I am writing such boring things that it isn't worth the effort of writing a post.  This has been a regular Sunday with one of our own harvested roosters providing a good meal of chicken and rice with some of our home grown cabbage boiled and some of our own green beans and creamed corn with a fruit salad for dessert being the only thing that didn't come from our land.  Everyone made it to lunch except daughter's family who went down to check on son-in-love's mom to see how she is progressing after her stroke. They said she is responding to the treatments and some of the feeling is coming back so that is very good to hear.                                                                                                          After everyone left I put away laundry and then went out to get chores done. It is a very windy day and the remaining leaves are raining down this afternoon for sure.                                                                                 We covered our plants tonight with quilts since the prediction is for the wind to die down overnight allowing the temperature to plunge.                                                                                                                   We came inside and rested for the evening to recharge for a new week.                                                          Very thankful for the blessings of this day and thankful for our health and safety during this crazy time.    God Bless and Good Night

FUN SATURDAY

Up to a nice quiet Saturday morning around here.   Just look at that bright blue sky !!!

I got chores done and then had breakfast. We went over to the elementary school with the kids to ride bikes and I got my walking in while we were there.

After the kids tired out hubbie took son-in-love home and daughter and I went to the produce stand she sells her cakes to and checked out all their new products. IR loved this reindeer and sleigh display.

We left there and stopped by Johnson Farms to pick up craft kits for the kids that they were giving away to all the teachers children.   We headed home and I rested a few minutes before it was time to get chores done. We carried our plant covers back into the barn because it could rain overnight and  the temperature is going to stay in the 40's. Just a few clouds floated around in the sky tonight to create a pretty sunset.

Hubbie and I were both tired tonight as he has been working on his wood pile all afternoon so we rested for the evening and then got in bed early.                                                                                                           Thankful for the blessings of this day.                                                                                                              God Bless and Good Night

YEP !!! FRIDAY THE 13th FOR SURE

An early wake up call for this Friday. All 3 girls are here this morning.  I got chores done and grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to Asheville for my annual physical at my doctor's office.  I should have known better than to schedule anything in Asheville on Friday let alone Friday the 13th !!!               First thing:  a large tree had fallen across the mountain road I was taking and brought down all the power lines so I had to turn around and take a detour, probably costing me an extra 10 minutes.  Thankfully I had left early with a 45 minute window to get there.                                                                Second thing:   When I turned out onto hwy 25 which leads into Asheville to my doctor it soon became a parking lot.  I switched lanes several times and finally saw the lane reduction because of utility work.  I finally made it to my doctor only about 10 minutes late which was surprising.

Third thing:    With all this stress on the way there ( at least I'm sure hoping that's what it is)  my blood pressure was high  140/100  which is very high for my usually low pressure reading.                                    Fourth  thing :    As I chatted with the doctor and kept waiting for him to ask me to get on the table so he could listen to my lungs and feel around on my stomach as all my doctors have always done it soon became evident to me that he was not going to touch me or check anything.  This is the only the second visit to this doctor and the same thing happened last year. I thought last year it was because it was my "welcome to medicare" check up but when it happened again today it left me wondering if folks my age are getting passed over by the medical professionals.                                                                                  Anyway on to my blood pressure issues, they took it again at the end of the appointment and it was still high so I am to monitor it daily for 2 weeks and call with an average to see if I need medicine.  He did say that with all my other bloodwork numbers looking so good he did not believe I had an issue.            I left there feeling like I had wasted my time if all I needed was to see my bloodwork numbers I could have done that online and saved me a raised blood pressure.                                                                      I fought very heavy traffic leaving Asheville , stopped for gas , picked up lunches and made it home safely thanks to God's protective hand.                                                                                                        I took my pressure at home before I ate lunch and it was 131/82 which is much better.  Re is going to bring her checker over on Sunday and see if it matches my readings because my checker is pretty old.    After lunch I gave hubbie a break and let CA take a nap inside while I took these two outside to play. They are matching today with matching popsicles and smiles !

As I watched them running around and playing I noticed all the bare trees and thought winter really is coming soon even if it doesn't feel like it these nice sunny warm days.
The cool season fescue grass in our bottom pasture has been really enjoying all the warmth and water of this month as it is still pretty and green.
After the girls left hubbie and I got chores done and covered our tender plants up as the forecast is for the mid to upper 30's tonight and last time they were missing the temps by about 5 degrees lower so we wanted to be safe.  As I came in this evening I noticed the skyline really lit up.
I came inside and fixed a pan of roasted sweet potatoes, turnips and beets for supper. It is so colorful !
Another named tropical storm brings this already record breaking season to add another .  Thankfully this one won't affect the US but it will be devastating to the area it is headed for as it strengthens to a cat 3 or more by landfall.

I haven't mentioned the presidential election since election day on here and that is because all of the states haven't finished re-counting votes yet and it was a very close race and several states are being sued by the current president for what he believes is voter fraud. North Carolina just finished counting today and went for current president Trump.  It looks like Joe Biden won the presidency unless president Trump can prove there was fraud in the vote counts. The electoral college doesn't vote until December 14th so the argument will last until then I'm sure.  Anyway that is why I haven't said anything about it.                                                                                                                                           Thankful for a good blood test result and traveling mercies today along with all the other blessings.        God Bless and Good Night

A CLOUDY DREARY THURSDAY

Up to a slower morning today with no where to be until 10:30 to deliver cakes. IR and CA are here this morning. I got chores done and then we all had breakfast. We got ready to go deliver cakes and run errands today since we didn't get that done yesterday among our doctor and dentist appointments.  We made the deliveries and then went to the PO, Dump and an Ingles grocery store on the other side of town that isn't crowded.   We picked up lunch and headed home to eat together.   #2 son came by to borrow a ladder to clean out his gutters and played with the girls a few minutes. He gets one day a week off and is usually cramming all the chores around his house into that day.   We spent the afternoon playing with the girls inside since it is still misting rain and very wet outside from the 1.3 inches of added rainfall overnight.    I did get our Norwex mask all washed and hung out to dry but had to get the in tonight and hang them inside to finish drying. I would have never in a million years guessed that my line drying laundry would look like this !!!!

After daughter picked up the girls hubbie and I went out to get chores done since the still very cloudy dark sky made darkness come even sooner tonight.                                                                                      We had a relaxing evening .                                                                                                                           Thankful for the blessings of this day.                                                                                                          God Bless and Good Night
