BEAUTIFUL LABOR DAY HIKE

Up at 7:30 this holiday morning to get things done and head over to daughter's to make our annual hiking trip.
We met them at 9:00 and headed up to Bridal Veil Falls in Dupont Forest. We all rode in her van since I have 2 car seats in my Honda now.
It is a beautiful morning for a hike as we passed Fawn lake.
IR was a relaxed rider....

This is an old airstrip in the forest that has a great view from it's end.

IR got to stretch her little legs on the way back to the trail.

It was a long hike to Bridal Veil Falls in the heat of the day but we were glad we made it to see this beautiful water fall.
When there is less water you can walk behind the falls but today we would have gotten soaked trying to do that and there was very few dry rocks to walk on to get up to the falls so we didn't want to take a chance of slipping and falling down.

Son-in-love stayed at the overlook with a sleeping IR and got this pic of us coming back down the rocks from the falls.
We hiked slowly back to the van wiping sweat and taking numerous breaks along the way in the sweltering heat.
Our hike was over 5 miles total and represented by the bright orange line.
As we dove out of the forest the roads were lined with cars as everyone took advantage of this beautiful day for some hiking fun.
We made our way back to Laurel Park to have some Mexican food at Sol Y Luna restaurant before heading home.
G-daughter IR was very hungry and didn't want mom checking her food to make sure it wasn't too hot.
We helped them get inside and checked on Luna the new puppy who was in her crate and hadn't even used the bathroom while we were gone. She seems to be a very smart little dog.
Hubbie and I got home about 3:15 and I got laundry started while he got on the tractor and started bush hogging the pastures.
It was a beautiful day for the Labor Day parade and it looks like a lot of folks braved the heat of the street to watch.

Just as September began the Atlantic tropical storms sprung up with 2 just named storms. The "F" storm Florence is predicted to move out to sea without any problems hopefully.

But the "G" storm, Gordon is going to effect the gulf coast states and the Midwest as it moves inland as a cat 1 hurricane if it follows the predictions so far.

Hubbie bush hogged until dark to get the pastures finished while I got the chores all done and got the laundry finished. We relaxed for the evening and then headed to bed very early tired and happy !
This has been a wonderful Labor Day and I am so thankful for all the blessings of the day.
God Bless and Good Night
