GOOD BYE JUNE 2021

Up to a busy morning today. I got chores done and then grabbed a cup of coffee and a breakfast bar as we loaded the Honda with a couple orders to deliver this morning. We met a cake customer first then went across town to Walgreens to pick up a couple things before meeting our egg customer. On the way home we stopped in Ingles to take advantage of a couple sale items they had this week. We got home and started grilling some brats and hot dogs for lunch. Daughter and the girls came over to have lunch with us.   After lunch we headed outside for the afternoon playtime.

IR and Meow Meow continued their new found friendship.

CA got her first lesson in driving the jeep as IR rode along and pushed the gas while CA steered.
Daughter and the girls went home for naps and hubbie went over with them to pick up their trash so he could get his truck loaded with the remaining barn clean out trash. I went to work in the garden. I hoed all the weeds once a gain.
I picked the first cucumbers of the season along with more squash.
After I finished the hoeing I watered some potted plants and discovered a couple pretty bloomers.

We got evening chores done and then spent the last evening of June 2021 watching the sky cloud up.

This month has flown by faster than ever with one week spent at the beach and the work in the garden and the barn clean out. As school ended and we got our summer routine started it was time for vacation and then we returned to early summer work.  June was a cooler than normal month which was nice but we were very dry as we watched rain fall all around us. Gardening so far has been challenging this year with the cool dry days but thankfully we have probably more than enough.  Several family members got a year older this month with d-in-love-Tif, hubbie, IR and Aa all celebrating birthdays this month.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and thankful for another month of wellness for our family and the grace of God in our travels.
God Bless and Good Night

RAINY DAY, THANKS TO DANNY

A rainy morning was a perfect time to be a little lazy this morning. I got chores done a little late but the animals didn't seem to mind staying in their dry houses a little longer. It is a fine misty rain that is keeping things cool but the air is really humid as this rain comes off the tropical system named Danny as it passes to the south of our area.  Our Sam's Club order was ready for pick up by the time I finished chores and there was a break in the rain so I grabbed a cup of coffee and a bar and we headed out to pick it up.   Sam's Club has done so much to improve the curbside pickup since they started and they still give out a little appreciation bag filled with goodies for using the service. We came home and got everything put away. I totally forgot to bake cakes last night so I baked 6 caramel, 2 chocolate and 1 coconut tonight for the July 4th celebrations.  Daughter came over with lunch and the girls as we all had lunch together. IR stayed here after she took CA home for a nap.  IR went outside with hubbie to play while I stayed inside to do some house cleaning and change out my monthly decor and furniture covers.  This is the time I do some deep cleaning when I change the decor and is one reason I do this each month. By the time I finished I was sweating and the humid air from outside didn't help any as IR kept leaving the doors open coming in and out to see what I was doing.   She was having fun outside and was tickled when "Meow Meow" jumped up in her chair beside her.

Daughter came back to pick up IR but she said she wanted to spend the night here by herself tonight. Daughter went home and was bringing her some clean clothes and her new "happy napper" that we bought her for her birthday back later.  She helped me get chores done and then helped hubbie with his while I came inside and iced caramel cakes.  We ate some supper and then daughter came back with IR's things . We expected her to want to go home with her mom but she didn't which surprised all of us.  Daughter left and we all came inside to settle down for the evening. All of a sudden IR decided she wanted to go home to her mama. I think she got to thinking of her sister and her mama and said she wanted to her sister to stay her with her so they could both spend the night. Hubbie took her home while I iced the chocolate and coconut cakes.  Both hubbie and I didn't sleep well last night for some reason so we are going to get an early bedtime tonight.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

PLAY DAY MONDAY

Monday morning rolls around more often then ever it seems. RL was here early to stay while her mom worked today.  I got chores done then had breakfast with her.  I gathered laundry and got the first load started just as daughter arrived with IR and CA.   Daughter spent the evening yesterday and last night in bed with a migraine and still isn't feeling great so she is staying here today to let the girls all play together.  I picked up lunch at school for the girls and I put the fresh green beans in the pressure pot to cook while hubbie fried the first yellow squash of the season out on the grill.  We had a great lunch of our fresh produce.  After we ate we went outside to play and the very first minute we were out there little CA went into her playhouse and got bee stung. We brought her inside and put vinegar and baking soda mixture on the sting and she acted immediately relieved.  Hubbie found 3 wasp building a nest under the little table in the playhouse and killed them all and tore the nest down.  We try to watch all their playhouses for bees nest but this one was just started.  CA was fine with the soda paste and a cold popsicle.

Everyone got a cold popsicle to cool off with.

We spent most of the afternoon outside playing and I went back and forth inside to keep my weekly laundry going.

After all the girls left hubbie and I watched the news then got chores done. Hubbie worked some in the garden putting up higher post for the tomatoes.  I finished laundry and then we ended the day watching the clouds start to peek above the horizon.
The fourth tropical storm of the season was named Danny today just off the east coast and will probably bring us some wind and rain as it passes.

Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

SWIMMING SUNDAY

Sunday mornings are always nice and slow.  We got an overnight rain that left over 3/10ths inch in the gauge which we are thankful for.  I got chores done and then grabbed a cup of coffee and a bar before meeting with daughter's family to go to a pool that d-in-love is a member at.  It is called Cleghorn Golf Plantation and is in Rutherford county.  D-in-love's family and d-in-love-Tif are also meeting us there. It is about a 40 minute drive.  It is a very nice large pool and everyone was glad we got these shaded seats.

The water was very clean and for a while after we got there we were the only ones in the pool.

I was given the job of caring for IR's flamingo and was soon joined by CA who wanted to help.

#1 son was helping g-son's friend Nicolas who came down to the pool also with his mom and sister how to dive into the pool with doing a belly flop.

G-son is great diver and swimmer.

We had lunch there from the restaurant delivered right to us by the pool which was really nice.  We stayed until late afternoon and then headed home as it got really hot down there in the foothills. It was good to get back to the mountains and the cool breeze.   Hubbie and I spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the restful Sunday out in the covered patio.
After a supper of some fresh potatoes out of the oven we got chores done then worked a little in the garden. I picked our first beans and squash from our summer garden this evening.  These purple beans are very early so I am going to need to remember to plant more of these in the years to come.

We will eat well tomorrow. This is my favorite time of year with fresh garden produce each day.
Thankful for the wonderful blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR IR

Up to a lazy Saturday morning to get chores done and then have breakfast. Hubbie and I did some house cleaning this morning while we waited to go over to daughter's for IR's birthday celebration.  We had a sandwich for lunch and then gathered the things we were taking to daughter's. Our canopy , a large cooler, camper's chairs and a garden hose was what we were taking.  We got there and helped set up for the party. They had rented the big water slide that they had last year and for IR it was a total different experience as last year she was the only kid at the party that would not get on it but this year she was the first kid to climb up and slide down.

All the kids loved this slide and it was a perfectly warm, sunny day for the cool water that was running down it.

All the adults enjoyed the shade of all the tents we put up as #1 son brought his also to go along with daughter's.
IR enjoyed all her friends with her "Troll" cupcakes and presents.

She had a great birthday party with family and friends all around.

After the party we helped clean up and then IR insisted on going home with us. We had to stop and feed Aa's animals and IR fell in love with Darla the horse.

We got chores done here at home and then had some supper . IR went back outside after we ate and rode her jeep until after dark when we took her home.

Both hubbie and I are tired tonight and we think our entire week of work in the barn has caught up with us tonight so we headed to bed extra early.
Thankful for the wonderful blessings of this day and so thankful to get to be a part of all these grandkids lives and watch them grow up.
God Bless and Good Night
