CANDY CANE MONDAY

Greeted by RL and IR crawling into bed with me this morning and snuggling close under the warm covers.  Looking out the window I see socked in clouds and a dreary looking morning.   When we got up I headed out to get chores done and then we all had breakfast together. It is in the mid 30's this morning and the sun is trying it's best to win the battle with the clouds.                                                       I got weekly laundry started with the help of RL and IR while hubbie kept CA entertained so she wouldn't want to come down the stairs with the big girls. We got out some more Christmas rugs and pillows and I came upstairs and did some house cleaning so we could get them out.                                    All the girls are still very excited about Christmas and these candy canes just made things better.

We all rode to pick up lunches so CA would go down for a nap. She did and slept for almost 3 hours.  The rest of us had a good lunch and then did more laundry and colored in some new books I found for them.                                                                                                                                                              D-in-love got in the Christmas spirit today at her work.

After the girls left this afternoon we hauled the remaining Christmas decoration storage bins back down to the shed and then got chores done in a quickly getting cold and windy evening. I had to say a prayer as I waited for the chickens to go into their overnight houses as I looked up at all the huge , tall  pine trees swaying back and forth in the strong wind gusts.                                                                                 Thankful for all the blessings of this day and thankful for the Reason for the Season, Jesus Christ.          God Bless, Good Night and Merry Christmas

DECORATING SUNDAY

A chilly Sunday morning as we get out to get chores done and take the frosty covers off all the vegetables beds.  More rain is coming tonight so we will hang the covers out to dry then take them in before the rain gets here. We had roast beef in the crock pot and added corn on the cob, green beans, slaw, biscuits to the lunch with apple crisp for dessert.  Everyone made it to lunch except daughter, son-in-love and CA who went over to sit with Kristen as she still can't put any weight on her broken ankle.     Daughter dropped IR off here after they met for Sunday school at Re's and decorated ginger bread houses.

IR wanted to be here to help the other kids decorate my tree and they had a very good time getting all the ornaments on the tree.

They all worked hard and were proud of a job well done and I was just happy to have one of my least favorite jobs done.        I sure do love all these kids !!!!!

After they finished and had a couple treats they all went home.  Hubbie and I went outside to get the decorations here finished out there. We had some up but no cords to them so we got all that done on a decently warm afternoon before the colder temps get here overnight.

We got our chores done and came inside before the news came on.  The weather forecasters are all predicting some snow for our area . Depends on which one you believe as to how much we might get.

We watched a Christmas music show on TV tonight and had a nice relaxing evening.   #1 son also was busy getting his outside lights on his house this evening.    Very pretty !!!

Thankful for a wonderful family filled Sunday and prayerfully thankful for the Reason for Season , Jesus Christ .                                                                                                                                                  God Bless, Good Night and Merry Christmas

BABY SHOWER SATURDAY

The sun was back out this morning and it was a bit warmer .    I got chores done and then hubbie and cleaned house so we would be ready for the kids to decorate my big living room tree  tomorrow. I also had some "pigs in a blanket" to make for Kristen's baby shower later today.  Daughter brought IR and CA by early to go decorate and get things set up in the church fellowship hall.  As soon as I got my part of the cooking done d-in-love brought RL up and left her with hubbie so she and I could attend the shower. Daughter made this cake and it was the hit of the shower for little Easton.

It was a beautiful shower and was enjoyed by all who stopped by.

I made a cake delivery on the way home and then d-in-love stayed to let the girls play a little more until daughter got here. After they all left hubbie and I went out to get chores done this evening. I emptied .65" of rain from the rains of yesterday and last night.                                                                                 We came inside and had a light supper and then brought the big Christmas tree up to the living room . I did more decorating and then we relaxed for a while.                                                                                   Thankful for the blessings of this day.                                                                                                          God Bless, Good Night and Merry Christmas

RAINY COLD FRIDAY

These little lovelies woke me up this morning sneaking into bed with me to pretend they were sleeping.

It was warm and felt really good under the covers on this cloudy cold morning.
I got chores done and then we all had lunch together. I started more decorating and these two were ready to help. They put all the ornaments on my kitchen tree and were proud of themselves for a job well done !!

I had a couple cake deliveries to get done today and we had a good day with all three girls playing and enjoying their seasonal excitement.                                                                                                               After they all left hubbie and I got chores done in a cold rain and it felt good to get inside and warm by the wood stove.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

COLDEST MORNING AND MORE DECORATING

Up to greet IR and CA only today. RL has a dentist appointment early this morning so d-in-love is dropping g-son at school on her way there.   It is the coldest morning so far at 19 degrees here. Seems the forecasters are missing temperatures ay about 5-6 degrees to high each night in our area.  There was a heavy frost on everything this morning and thick ice on the water pans for sure but it was still a beautiful morning.

We all had breakfast when I got back inside. After we finished eating IR begged to decorate a Christmas tree so we went out in the sunroom and I let her put all the snowflakes and apples on this tree. She did a great job of placing them around and was so proud of herself.

I laughed when she ran to get CA when as soon as CA woke from her nap to take her out and show her the tree and they both danced around it.                                                                                                        I went alone to Aldi to pick up our grocery order while hubbie stayed home with the girls as they wanted to watch something on TV. I also got gas and picked up lunch on the way home.  We ate lunch when I got here, they all had pizza and I had a fresh salad from my garden beds.   I am so thankful to have fresh vegetables to go out and pick this time of year. This broccoli is doing so well under the plastic row cover that we used.
We are sort of experimenting this year with these covers to see how it goes and what will grow under them.  So far along with the broccoli I have lettuce, swiss chard, spinach, carrots and box choy doing well and we still have uncovered rows of Kale and Collards doing well in the garden.  We want to see how long the uncovered things go so we will know whether to cover them next year or not.  I know it depends on the weather and the temperatures do vary so we will see what happens and them decide.        After the girls left this evening hubbie and I went out to get chores done.  This beautiful moon is still pretty full as it rises in a clear sky tonight.
I did more decorating tonight and got the sunroom pretty much done .   I need to get all the plastic containers back in the shed so I have more room to move around.                                                               Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the Reason for the Season !!

COLD ERRAND DAY

Up to greet  RL,IR and CA on this cold morning at 22 degrees and breezy.  I got chores done , ice broke off all the waterers and the covers removed from the plastic tunnels over the vegetables before I came in for breakfast.  After we ate we loaded up in hubbie's truck and headed out to get all our errands ran and get lunch.  We made stops at the PO, the dump / recycle center, Sav Mor, the bank, our insurance office, Sam's Club to get a battery for my Honda and picked up lunch.                                      CA napped most of the trip and on the couch when we got home while all of us including g-son who came up to have lunch with us ate.                                                                                                                 I spent some time this afternoon working on Christmas gifts while hubbie entertained the girls. He put batteries in all the old Christmas toys and very different from her sister in past years CA loves them and their dancing and singing.

After I got done with my work and the moms got here the girls had a candy cane. Can you tell what color these two had ???

We got the new battery in my Honda and then hubbie and I got chores done when everyone left.  We came back inside and watched the news and then I did more decorating. I got the living room pretty much done tonight except for the tree which will go up this weekend so the girls can all decorate in Sunday after lunch. Some things are different this year to be out of the reach of a very curious CA.

I could just sit in the dark and watch these flames for hours and enjoy the warmth and relaxing dance of the flames.

Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless, Good Night and Merry Christmas

FIRST SNOW FLAKES

Brrr !!!  It is cold this morning in the mid 20's with a wind that is making it feel more like the teens.  IR and CA are here today and they are playing inside with hubbie while I get chores done and remove the garden covers and open up one end of the plastic row protectors so they can get fresh air and dry out . The sun is shining brightly so it should heat them up nicely.   I came back inside and had breakfast then stripped the bed covers and got a load of laundry started.  We all loaded up in the Honda late morning to make a bread delivery for daughter and pick up lunch but had to change vehicles when I tried to start the Honda only to discover my battery was dead. I am not surprised as it is the battery that came in it and it is a 2015 model.  Hubbie went up and brought his truck down and we loaded up in it to make out delivery.  At least the wind has died down so it doesn't feel as cold but snowflakes are flying around still.  The mountain tops are all white for the first time this season. Some folks north of our area got a lot of snow.

And some spots got over a foot of snow.

IR was just excited to see some snow flakes flying around.                                                                         The kids played after we ate and I made a business phone call and then went to get my bone density scan that I am due for. I am glad there is a place in our county now to have this done.  It didn't take long and I headed back home. I was driving hubbie's truck as we will get a battery for my Honda tomorrow when we run our errands.                                                                                                                              When I got home I went up and closed the plastic tunnels up to retain some of the sun's warmth overnight and then daughter and I made another business call.
After she took the girls and left we got chores done and hubbie gathered our garbage and recyclables. We came inside and had a light supper and then I did weekly paperwork and paid bills and then did a little more decorating.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night
