COMING HOME DAY

Early 6:30 alarm this morning to get on the road. I didn't sleep well at all last night I guess in anticipation of the trip home today, worrying about RL , and wondering what traffic will be like today.  We got the last of our things loaded and then helped clean up the last things around the house as well as help everyone else get loaded and ready. Thankfully RL is feeling much better this morning.  Maybe she can sleep most of the trip home.  We left the house and went to McDonalds and a gas station to fuel up .  We hit the road at about 8:30 and ran into our first traffic obstacle shortly as a state trooper had the road we were traveling on closed because of an accident. We detoured around that without too much difficulty and drove through some beautiful farm land on our way to the interstate.  As soon as we got on I-20 traffic slowed and we found ourselves right back in the mess we drove down in. Stop and go traffic for miles !!!   Thankfully we didn't see any accidents and traffic moved more than it did coming down and we made it home in about 5 hours with only three pit stops for the kids. Hubbie and I stopped to refuel and pick up some sandwich makings at Ingles on our way home. The others both stopped to pick up lunch at different places.  We ran into #2 son in Ingles and he said he would go home and get our eggs and mail and come over to help us get settled back in and help move one of the limbs that fell so I wouldn't have to be walking under it taking care of my chickens and garden.   We came home and made a sandwich for a late about 1:30 lunch.  Son got here just as we finished eating and helped get the dead tree down and then helped carry all our things inside out of the Honda. He and d-in-love Tif took such great care of all our animals while we were gone.  It is cloudy and looks like rain but we aren't supposed to get any until later tonight as the now named tropical storm Claudette makes her way through the gulf and heads this way.

Daughter needed to make a cake delivery so she dropped IR and CA off for a little while as they wanted to come over here.  I unpacked some things while hubbie watched TV with the girls. It feels good to settle back into our regular routine.  It always seems funny to me that by tomorrow this entire week will seem like it never happened.  I got most of the things unpacked and then when daughter came back to pick up the girls hubbie helped get everything else put away. It is good to have that done mid afternoon.  I walked around the garden and man do we need more rain !!!  Things look so dried out and thirsty.   We got chores done a little early as the clouds darkened .  We came inside and had a light supper and watched the news.  I put away some laundry and then wrote this blog. I am headed for a hot bath and then man is my own bed going to feel good tonight !!

Thankful for traveling mercies extended to all of us today and for all the blessings of this day as well as the blessing that RL felt better today.

God Bless and Good Night
