ROOSTER HARVESTING DAY

Got up to very busy day. We worriedly watch the cloud filled sky all during chores and breakfast. Today is not one of my favorite days but it is necessary to get these guys in the freezer for some delicious meals.

We got everything set up still watching the clouds.
We harvested 7 roosters that were 5 months old and weighed between 4-5 lbs each and Re brought over 1 older cornish cross hen she had . It took us about 4 hours from the very beginning of set up and we also had to tweak a couple things that cost time so we felt pretty good about the day. The roosters are in the frig cooling in ziplock bags. I will have to go out tonight and pick up some larger bags for my vacuum machine to freeze them in for sure because they won't fit all the way into a gallon zip lock bag.
Hubbie spent the rest of the afternoon blowing leaves out of our yard and I cleaned out the big camper cover chicken tractor that these roosters have been in so that I can move the next batch of roosters into it tonight.

We also met with a tree cutting guy about taking down one of the huge oak trees that is leaning toward our house from inside the lower pullet lot.
It has been a very busy day and by the time I finished chores and moved the 10 next roosters into the camper cover tractor my back, legs and feet were really yelling at me for rest. Before we sat down to rest we made a trip to Dunhams sporting goods to pick up some bigger vacuum bags.
When we got home we collapsed into our recliners and I sat on a heating pad on various areas for the evening and then had a nice long soak in the tub.
These girls looked cute today as they both allowed their mothers to put their hair in braids. First it was RL .......
As soon as IR saw a picture of her she wanted her mom to fix hers like it and sat very still for a very long time to get it done.

Thankful for the blessings of food for our table and all the other blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night
