FIRST WOOD STOVE FIRE OF THE SEASON

Up to a cold morning waiting for daylight to go outside to get chores done. I am looking forward to the mornings next week when the time goes back so that it will be daylight earlier but I am not looking forward to the evenings when it gets dark an hour earlier !!! Some areas around us at higher elevations got snow for the first time this morning.

I came inside and had a cup of coffee before loading up IR and CA to take IR to school. They both don't act like they feel great today and CA even said when we were dropping IR off in her classroom that she wanted to go back to our house today and not go to school.  I told her luckily today isn't one of  your school days so we headed home. We picked up our Sam's Club curbside order on the way home. Hubbie helped get things unloaded and put away then we loaded up CA and EA in his truck and headed into town to run our regular weekly errands. The PO, the dump/ recycle center, the bank, the library, meet a cake customer at the Curb Market and pick up IR were all on our list today. We breezed through our errands, picked up IR and headed home for lunch. We all had lunch together when we got here.  The girls were happy to snuggle inside all afternoon today as the nasty cold drizzle continued all day. There was 3/10ths inch of rain in the gauge this evening.  After daughter picked up the girls hubbie and I had to get some freezing temperature prep done outside. We are predicted to have 33-34 degree temps overnight and I don't really trust the forecast because it is usually colder here then they predict.  We covered our row of broccoli and cabbage with a plastic tunnel.

We planted another row of plants that we raised to see how much cold they can tolerate uncovered and we never cover our Kale greens but they usually do fine .
We also covered this raised bed that has leaf lettuce, radishes, chard, carrots and spinach in it.
We got regular chores  done then moved the potatoes out of hubbie's uninsulated shop into the basement and covered them up. We moved some odd things from the basement to make room for the potatoes into the storage shed along with the Halloween outside decorations I used.  It was after dark when we finally got inside.
We built our first fire of the season tonight to get the house warmed up without the heat pump running constantly.
We relaxed for the evening with the extra warm cozy wood heat feeling.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night
