MAJOR FLOODING TODAY

Woke to the sound of pouring rain as the g-kids all came in this morning. Daughter took g-son with her to school as she was running a little late this morning.
I got chores done in a downpour and the chickens were not in any hurry to come out of their nice dry houses today.
The weather radar looks daunting to say the least this morning as we get ready to head out to market.

I thought about staying home today more than once as I watched the rains continue and watched the creek down in the pasture rise so fast you could actually see the banks disappearing under water.
Today is IR's pre-school day and I wanted her to get another day under her belt plus she had already asked not to go to school today so I didn't want to give her the impression we were honoring her request not to go to school today so she wouldn't expect that every day.
I dropped RL and IR off at school and met hubbie and CA at market.  We didn't have much to set up and there very few vendors there today.
As the rain still came down and more and more roads were being closed due to flooding we decided after about an hour and half and only seeing one customer come through market we should go pick the girls up and head home.
The roads were getting really filled with water and one way to get to the pre-school church was already shut down due to flooding by the time we left and the way we choose to go got shut down right behind us as water was starting to come into that road.
The pre-school's doors are always locked until 5 minutes before noon so I went up IR's class windows and was surprised to see IR sitting at a table interacting with the other kids. Her teacher Ms Kenna came and unlocked the door for me. She said she couldn't believe that they hadn't canceled school yet.
When we got to the classroom door IR came running up and said she didn't want to leave until she had her snack .  This made me happy to know that she likes school this much.
I told her okay because I had to go get RL also and she happily ran back to her seat at the table.
I had to go upstairs to the gym to find RL's class and then go back to her classroom to pick up all her things.
IR was finished with her snack by then and we headed to the car. We made a stop at the bank on the way home and picked roads that didn't have creeks under them to get home.
Thankfully we made it home without any detours or trouble. Our pastures are totally flooded.

Hubbie came in right behind me as he had went by the dump / recycle center on his way home. We got things unloaded and put away then brought all 3 girls in to have lunch.
The rain continued all afternoon but not as heavy as this morning. The upstate of South Carolina caught the worst storms and a tornado touched down in Spartanburg.
Many roads washed away in counties around us and the upstate.

Thankfully the heavy rains predicted for our area this afternoon went mostly south of us.
We spent the day entertaining the girls until CA went to sleep and hubbie took RL with him to pick up g-son so she wouldn't wake CA. IR and I watched cartoons on TV while they were gone.
Daughter and #1 son came after the kids shortly after hubbie got home.
Hubbie and I got out in the rain once again today and got our evening chores done.
Our driveways are washed some but thankfully we have no more damage that we could find today.

There was a total of 4.6 inches of rain in the gauge since last evening at chore time when I emptied the .4"from the gauge.
We spent the evening resting from a long stressful day. There is a 2 hour delay for schools tomorrow morning so we get some extra sleep tonight. There are many roads in our area that are closed tonight.

Thankful for our safety today during this storm and praying for all the folks who had damage.
God Bless and Good Night
