NINE YEAR WAR IN IRAQ FINALLY OVER,THEY'RE COMING HOME !!!

Doing chores in the rainy cool morning reminded me it is winter time around here.  No walk this morning  so I'll just ice 6 caramel cakes to get a head start on that task.
After lunch I went to clean at church and then to an estate sale.
I didn't find much, just an ajustable chair for one of my sewing machines and a canning kettle.
While I was inside the sale the rain poured down but as I left it slacked off. I stopped at a couple more places looking for a corner cabinet for a spot in my living room but had no luck.
The sun made a brief appearance on my drive home.
After chores I listened to the news. Earlier this week President Obama declared an end to the war in Iraq and is bringing all the troops home for Christmas.
He payed a visit to Fort Bragg ,NC to make the announcement.

These guys sure look happy to be packing up !!

There were celebrations everywhere !!!
Thank God this brings to an end a 9 year war with the loss of  almost 4500 of our men and women in uniform during that time.

Today has been a dreary day with drizzley rain all day with temperatures in the mid 40's.
I walked by the window this morning as the birds were busily rading the feeders for breakfast and in just a short time saw several different varieties and had a chance to practice my new camera setting d-in-love showed me the other day. I love seening the rain drops falling in some of these photos. You can see what I'm talking about by clicking and enlarging the pics.

Hopefully after this next week I'll have more time to watch my feathered friends.
This has been a busy year and I'm looking forward to a much needed hibernation this winter !!!
When I told the pastor the other night I was going to coast for a while come January he laughed and said he'd believe it when he saw it !!!
Coasting for me probably has a different meaning than for some people. To me it means having time to sew my crafts that I enjoy , clean and re-arrange furniture in my house, sort through my closets, as well as other task that might seem like work to most people.
Tonight I iced 6 more caramel,1 chocolate and 3 coconut cakes to hopefully get ready for a busy market day tomorrow.
Thanking God for the blessings He has given me today as I strive to do His will in all that I do.
Good night and God Bless.

Enjoy the coasting.

I am thrilled our troops are coming home. A well-placed bid for re-election, because behind the non-news scenes, my friend has been deployed to afghanistan for a year.

Merry Christmas.

Hi There, It's COLD here today--but the sun is out!!!!! We had rain and cold drizzle all day yesterday.

I'm sure the troops are glad to be home from Iraq--but I'm afraid that we got totally out of there too early.. I think Iran will go in there and take over... Too Bad!

Are you having the whole family at your home on Christmas? This year it's just going to be the two of us... We'll go on the 23rd to see Dad Adams... My son is coming up sometime --but his girlfriend's Mom has to have surgery --so that may mess up their plans.

Hugs,
Betsy

I'M SUCH A NATURE LOVER THAN I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR BIRD PICTURES. NOW I KNOW WHERE MY PRETTY RED PAIR WENT FOR THE WINTER. I WANT A BIRD FEEDER BUT I'VE GOT SO MANY SQUIRRELS THEY'D EAT ALL THE FEED.
AS FOR THE WAR BEING OVER. HE MADE A GOOD MOVE TO LOOK GOOD. I AGREE, IRAN WILL WALK IN AND TAKE OVER NEXT. THEN THEY CAN BLAME THAT ON BUSH ALSO.JUST SAYING.

COCONUT CAKE SOUND MIGHTY FINE JUST ABOUT NOW. I CAN ALMOST TASTE IT.YUM.

YOU WOULDN'T THINK WE BELIEVED IN CHRISTMAS. NO TREE AGAIN. TODAY IS GRAMPS82 BIRTHDAY AND IT'S SCARY TO THINK THE YEARS HAVE PASSED SO QUICKLY.SHOWING HIS AGE ALOT THIS PAST YEAR. WE TAKE EACH DAY THE LORD GIVES US AND TRY TO ENJOY.
