ICY MORNING

Up early to here the announcement that schools are closed today because of icy roads. Hubbie a nd I were both glad to get a couple hours extra sleep on this cold nasty morning. I waited until 9:00 to go outside hoping the ice would be melted off the grass and walkways .  It was still hanging onto the tree branches with the temperature still holding at 31 degrees.

The chickens looked at me as if to question why I was even opening their warm house doors. They had no interest in coming out in the nasty weather and I don't blame them as I was glad to get back inside of my warm house also.                                                                                                                                     I had breakfast and then put in a washing load of furniture coverings to wash while we waited to see what the ice conditions would do.  Daughter came over to study for her "drone license" test she is taking this afternoon so she can teach a course on drone use.  The test is in Asheville and is at 3:00 so she should be fine getting there.    The girls , hubbie and I loaded up in the truck to go run our regular weekly errands. We dropped a caramel cake off at church for a family dinner after a funeral today and then stopped at the PO, the dump, Ingles, the bank and then came home.    It hasn't rained hard all day just a fine mist at times but the temperature hasn't gotten out of the 30's all day.   Daughter was already headed to Asheville when we got home . The girls had fun playing the afternoon away.                            I have had a couch in the living room that belongs to #2 son for a couple years and he is trading me a couch that he has now for this one with the help of all the family males this evening.  They are waiting out some heavy rain before they make the switch.                                                                                        Daughter passed her test with a 90 score and she picked up the girls on her way home. Hubbie and I got chores done then all the guys came and switched out the couches. Now we have an extra dark gray couch that replaces the dark brown one that has been here.  It is a little shorter than the big brown one but actually matches the rest of our furniture.
After everyone left I baked 6 caramel cakes and then we both relaxed for the evening.                              Thankful for the blessings of this day and thankful for the Reason for the Season, Jesus Christ.                God Bless, Good Night and Merry Christmas

Glad everyone is okay after your ice storm. I like the new couch.
