GOOD BYE SEPTEMBER 2018 and 2008 DECADE PICS

Got some much needed extra zzz's this morning.  When I checked my phone I saw all the flood warnings and road closures and thought wow ,how did I sleep through so much rain ????
Luckily the rain wasn't in our area but in the areas just east of us where they received almost 6 inches of rain in less than an hour washing out roads and causing landslides in several places .
We had gotten about 1/4" of rain overnight here leaving everything muddy this morning.
I got chores done and we got the kitchen cleaned up and the corn on to cook while we got ready for church.
Daniel in the Lion's Den was the story for today.
We came home to grill hotdogs on the grill to go with the corn and oven baked French fries for lunch with #1 son's family, Aa's family and daughter and IR.
Everyone had a nice visit and the kids all got to play .
Aa's family and daughter and IR went home and #1 son's family with hubbie following in his truck went across town to pick up a used play set that d-in-love had bought .
I stayed home and got some clothes put away and rested.
D-in-love sent me these pics of part of the playset loaded in hubbie's truck as they got ready to head home.
Aa was waiting on them when that got home to help unload and get it set up.

It started raining on them but they got the job finished and Aa tested it out !!!
The kids are going to love playing on this thing.
Hubbie and I came home and got the chores done in a light mist of rain.
We had a relaxing Sunday evening to rest up for another busy week coming up.
Since this is the last day of September I need to finish the decade series for this month with the 2008 pics. G-son was staying here with me and he sure loved his Pawpaw when he came in from work each day.

He sure loved when I iced caramel cakes also and he got to lick the spatula.

It's hard to look at these pictures and then look at him today and think this is the same boy since it sure doesn't seem like it has been 10 years.

As another month comes to an end and I look back over it in these busy times I am even more thankful that God gives me the energy and opportunity to be a part of and watch these grand kids grow.
The month started with a fun time at the Apple festival and a Labor day hike in gorgeous weather.
RL started pre-school and isn't as excited about going as she was last year but goes most days happily anyway.
G-son has had his first school team experience on the middle school soccer team. He has enjoyed it so much and has gotten to play more than I thought he would and we have all been very surprised at the progress he has made under this coach.
We celebrated 2 birthdays this month as RL turned 3 years old on the 8th and CO turned 5 years old on the 11th.

Hurricane Florence made life miserable for many but thankfully spared us any major damage.
This entire month has been much warmer than normal and it set a new record for the warmest September in history.
One sad thing this month will always be remembered for is the loss of these 2 little sweet hearts who were forced to move back to Ohio to live with an uncle after being a part of our family for 15 months .We will miss them terribly and will continue to pray that they can find peace in this decision.
As another month ends and another one begins I am as always humbly grateful for all the blessings along the way and continue to pray for God's guidance in the coming month as we strive to glorify the Lord in all that we do.
God Bless and Good Night

FALL OLD TIMEY DAY

Woke up at 6:30 this morning wide awake. It took me a few minutes to figure why hubbie was not in bed and then I figured I had woke up early because I was afraid I wouldn't hear my regular 7am alarm this morning with hubbie leaving at 5:30 to get to market to help with the set up of Old Timey Day.
It was pitch dark outside so I did my leg stretches and got ready for market giving the sun time to get up so it would be daylight enough to get the chores done.
I got my Old Timey Day outfit on !
I made it to market a few minutes after 8:00 and found there were a lot of folks already there. Hubbie came from the stoves where they were already cooking ham, sausage, gravy and biscuits and helped me get my things carried in.
Folks were already in line for the fresh , hot off the wood cook stoves biscuits.

The Old Time Pickers provided some lively music for the event and everyone acted like they had a good time.

There were old cars to look over on the outside also.
This old tag caught my eye and brought back memories of the car tags when I was a kid.
Inside market there was beautiful fall flowers and many varieties of apples to choose from.

Both my grand girls had a good time today at the celebration.

RL was hungry again and left market to have lunch with her mom and dad.

G-son went on a church youth camping trip overnight last night and will be home later today.
Hubbie and I stayed an hour after market closed helping get everything took down and put away.
Both of us were really glad to get home and get things unloaded and put away here and sit down and put our feet up for a little while. Whew these days are fun but they sure are a lot of work and these days sure remind us of our age !!!!
One of the youth leaders dropped g-son off from the camping trip and he was hungry and tired. He came in wet and said they had played in the creek but the water was colder than he had ever felt creek water to be.   After he ate and got some dry clothes on he talked about his trip and it sounded like he had a really good time. This is his first outing with the youth.
Thankful for a blessed day with so many things going on but one very sad thing happened today.
Re lost her court battle to keep AD and CO and today they left to go live with Re's brother in Ohio. AD was very devastated about having to leave her friends and school and I'm sad because both these little girls thought of Re as their mother now with the loss of their own mother nearly 2 years ago.
Please pray for these girls as they get introduced to a totally different life now in Ohio and pray that they continue their healing.
God Bless and Good Night

BUSY FRIDAY AND 1998 SCHOOL PICS

Up to get this Friday started with breakfast for the grandkids and chores.
When I got RL to pre-school she didn't want to get out of her car seat and go inside which was strange for her as she is usually happy to get to go to school everyday. I had to make her walk instead of carrying her as she wanted . She didn't pitch too big of a fit when we got to her class but still was not excited or happy about being there today for some reason.
I came home and had breakfast. I got all my baking supplies ready to bake but didn't have time to do much before it would be time to leave to pick RL up so we went thrift store shopping on the way.
Hubbie and IR went along. The only thing we found was hubbie a pair of jeans and a couple 25 cent Christmas baskets to add to my décor.
When I picked RL up she was still in a funk even with the visit of the fire truck and the hat she had.
This is her friend Evan and neither of  them would look at the camera for a pic.
Finally I managed to get a small smile as she saw her Pawpaw getting out of the Honda.
She refused to eat her chicken nuggets so we went to the farm stand nearby for an ear of corn which she said she would eat. They had some decorations out that she had to check out .
We got in the Honda to come home and she cried almost the entire way home about nothing she could tell us about.
When we got home she finally went down for a short nap .
I got my baking started and baked 12 caramel, 2 chocolate, 4 pound , 1 blackberry wine and a pan of brownies .
RL woke up after a short nap and began her constant crying again. She only would eat a few bites of her corn and then lay back down and whine and cry like she definitely felt bad.
Her dad got off early today and came home to see if he could figure out what was going on with her.
He took her home to meet mom to see if they could figure out what was going on with her.
Daughter came after IR and hubbie and me got chores done. Then I spent the evening icing cakes and getting things ready for market tomorrow. Old Timey Day is tomorrow so I am hoping for a good sales day.
I need to get more decade pics on here since the end of this month is certainly catching up fast.
Back in September of 1998 #1 son was a junior on the football team. He was #72. He played defensive end and offensive guard and played all the time.

His school picture in his junior year.
#2 son was in his sophomore year in high school.
And daughter was in the 8th grade at Apple Valley Middle School and also played volleyball.

That was a busy time for us as a family as we were farming full time and keeping up with these three active kids but we enjoyed every minute of it.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the memories.
God Bless and Good Night.

MARKET THURSDAY AND 1988 BUSY SEPTEMBER

Up to get this busy morning started. G-son took his breakfast with him this morning as daughter had to get to school earlier .
I got ready for market and did the chores while hubbie fed the girls their breakfast.
I don't feel great this morning and am just kind of going through the motions with my routine today.
I feel like a migraine is trying to sideline me today.
IR and RL fighting all the way to pre-school didn't help any either.
After dropping RL I headed to the market to meet hubbie. IR was in a happy mood when she got to walk around market while hubbie unloaded my things. He took over following her while I got set up.
Other g-ma ,Connie picked her up about 10:00 and hubbie left to run his errands and come home.
I was prepared for the heavy rain the weather folks said was coming today but it turns out I didn't need rain boots after all.

Sales were fairly good today for an end of September Thursday so for that I am thankful.
I left market and made a stop at Aldi for baking supplies and groceries and at Tractor Supply for flea meds for Meow Meow the cat. I also did my banking and PO stops.
As soon as I got here hubbie helped me unload and then daughter brought IR by on her way to open house. She took IR with her as she didn't expect many parents to show up.
Hubbie and I put Rocky the Aussie in the front of hubbie's truck because it looked like storms were coming any minute and drove him to the vet's office for  his rabies vaccine.
Rocky isn't your typical Australian Shepherd that loves to ride, he actually hates it and is very nervous the entire time. Even with me petting and soothing him he panted heavily and was very nervous all the way there and back. Thankfully he didn't get sick .
We came home and got inside just in time before the heavy rain fell.
We waited for an hour for the rain to slack and when it did we headed out to get chores done.
I dumped 4/10ths inch of rain from the gauge this evening and more heavy rains are predicted over night.
I need to get more decade pics on here and in September 1988 we had a busy month so there are lots of pics. The boys had school pics made in 1st grade (#1 son ) , kindergarten (#2 son) and I took daughter who was 3 years old and had a Christmas pic made.

#1 son and I went with a cousin and some friends to Camp Daniel Boone in Canton ,NC to a weekend Cub Scout campout that month and son enjoyed participating in all the activities.

Cousin Connie and Bobby out in the canoe with another mom and cub scout.
Cousin Connie and friend Rhonda giving me a what are you doing look !!!

This is son and his cousin Bobby in front of the cabin we stayed in.
We also organized a bike ride for our troop that month at Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
This is daughter and one of her favorite dolls.
Great memories of a very busy time in our lives but I am so thankful when I look back that we took the time to invest in our kids and their activities because it made us a closer family.
Thankful for the blessings of today and for the blessings of the family time we had through the years.
God Bless and Good Night
