CARL SANDBURG NATIONAL PARK

Up to greet three kids this morning on this first day of summer vacation 2018.
I got chores done while they had breakfast .  The sky is cloudy this morning but there was only a little over 1/10th inch of rain in the gauge from the overnight sprinkle of rain.
We decided to go on to Carl Sandburg house since petting the goats is all RL has talked about all morning.
We left about 10:30 so we could beat the heat if the sun did come out and we took umbrellas just in case all the clouds bring rain. Turned out to be a perfect time to go with no hot sun and no rain just cool and cloudy.

The double stroller and the steep unpaved part of the trail into the park was a two man job.

The kids all had fun with all the baby goats.

G-son went asking about his favorite goat from the past 2 years and was disappointed when the ranger told him they had sold her. Cinnamon was a premature baby and had to be bottle fed which g-son got to be a part of the year she was born. However her small size didn't make her a good breeder goat so that is why they had to let her go.
G-son and Cinnamon in 2015 her birth year.
He found her again in 2016 out in the pasture and introduced her to EL.
He happily found her last year in 2017.
Today he wasn't interested in finding another favorite he just enjoyed watching them all.

We stopped by the house for some goat milk fudge.

And on the way out we had to get the annual pic with g-son here.
Look how much he has changed since last years picture.
We left the park at noon and went to a near by Subway for lunch. The girls were patiently waiting.
Everyone was very hungry after our active morning and ate happily.
Both girls went to sleep on the ride home and took good afternoon naps while I did weekly laundry.
After they were picked up hubbie and I did chores then IR came back to stay with us while daughter went to a end of school year dinner with the faculty from her school.
We made a trip to Ingles to pick up breakfast supplies for the kids and some baking supplies for me. We dropped IR off with her dad on the way home .
The clouds were still hanging around making a pretty picture on the way home.
Thankful for traveling mercies today and for all the wonderful blessings of this day with the grandkids.
God Bless and Good Night
