GOOD BYE APRIL 2019

A different morning today with RL not coming today I slept in a little until IR found me and crawled into bed with me. There is no sleeping when she does this as she is under the cover one minute and bouncing on top of them the next minute.
I got chores done and hubbie and IR and I all had breakfast together today. We decided to use this one child day to get another spring time chore marked off out list and made a trip to Blantyre to pick out our garden plants. We are later than usual this year getting here and it was obvious in the low amount of selection in the plants. Only one little corner of one of the several greenhouses had vegetable plants , all the rest were filled with flowers.
We got a couple new varieties of tomato plants since they didn't have some of the ones we have been getting. We got 12 bell pepper plants and 36 tomato plants and I found a couple flowers to fill more empty pots.

We came home and d-in-love brought RL up and some ice cream and cones plus some little toys she had in her car and the girls ate ice cream cones and played until daughter and g-son came in from school then g-son joined in the fun.

RL didn't have any more problems today and acted normally so who knows what was going on yesterday.
Both the girls took turns sleeping good naps today even if they were both sitting in car seats and high chairs !!

D-in-love took her kids home and daughter and I got ready to go to Re's  Norwex party she is having at 5:00 tonight.
There was a lot of ladies there and we all ate and had fun. I bought some more of the products since the ones that I got at d-in-love's party worked so well.
Daughter and I were the first ones to leave and she headed home and I did my chores and  then sat in the covered patio relaxing a little while as darkness fell.
Saying good-bye to another month that has slipped away in what seems like a minute of time tonight makes me think back over all the things April 2019 brought that made me smile. Thanks to some warmer than normal weather on most days this month we got to take the girls to the park several times to their enjoyment.

Track season ended for g-son as we watched him jump in three different events.
We planted our spring garden the first of the month and enjoyed so many beautiful blooming spring plants around our yard.
We made our annual spring flea market trip to Pickens and found some really good deals.
We had a lot of rain and one really major flooding storm.
We celebrated our Risen Lord on a late Easter Sunday on the 21st of the month with church and an Easter egg hunt in the yard.
We have spent a lot of time at daughter's helping to build a deck and privacy fence.
I also had my first hatch of baby chicks plus picked up some purchased chicks from Valley Ag this month.
It was a busy but great month of fun and adventure with the grandgirls and the family. We are thankful for each day that we were blessed with and look forward to a new month starting tomorrow and pray that May will be as blessed as April was.
Thankful for the blessing of this day.

FARM DAY AND PLANT SHOPPING

Monday mornings are always challenging with the kids and getting back on schedule.  Our schedule for today took a change last night when d-in-love decided she would get off work and go to RL's "farm day" at pre-school. Hubbie, IR and I had planned on going but it will be much better for d-in-love to go.
I got chores done and grabbed my coffee and a breakfast bar and hubbie and IR went along this morning anyway to stop at a couple places after we drop RL off.
I found the Hosta variety I have been looking for at Ace hardware and all their perennials were BOGO so I got a couple other flowering small bush type perennials.  I just love the red stems on this hosta.

We also checked out one of our favorite thrift shops and stopped at the Co-op to pick up some gourmet peppercorns and ginger pieces.  IR was not happy this morning for some reason and did a lot of whimpering and crying. I think she is cutting her 2-year molars.
We came home and waited for d-in-love to drop off RL after their fun day.

I got weekly laundry started and changed all the bed clothes and furniture covers for some extra laundry today. I vacuumed the furniture and cleaned all the shelves off and changed the décor from purple to pink and blue for the month of May.
RL was sleeping when she got here but she soon woke up and we all had lunch together.
I did more cleaning and laundry as the afternoon wore on and I noticed RL was not her usual playful self and was pretty much just laying around while IR did her best to get her to play with her.
I finished my cleaning and changing décor out around 2:30 and went outside to the covered patio where hubbie and the girls were. RL was in hubbie's lap while IR played on the slides.
Hubbie brought RL back inside when she said she was cold and IR and stayed outside. In a few minutes IR climbed up in my lap and went to sleep. I wrapped her in a blanket to fend off the chilly wind that was blowing and we sat there until daughter came home.
Daughter picked her out of my lap and we came inside for her to finish her nap on the couch. RL was asleep in hubbie's lap and she woke up when her mom came in but just layed in her mom's lap until they left.
After they all left hubbie and I got all the plants outside that had spent the winter months in the house and basement.
Then hubbie helped me plant all the things I bought this morning. I still have a few pots to fill with something but will wait for another sale.
I carried water to everything and was reminded why I shouldn't plant so many flowers !!!!
I finished laundry and then got chores done for the evening. It is getting pretty chilly this evening as the sun goes down.
D-in-love said RL had a fever when she got home but had seemed to feel better as the evening wore on. But d-in-love has decided to go into work late tomorrow so she can see how she is doing in the morning and see if she might need to take her to the doctor.
I am very thankful for the blessings this day was filled with.

RESTFUL SUNDAY AND 2009 MEMORY

Could have gotten an extra hour of sleep this morning but on this Sunday my internal clock still said it was time to wake up at 7:00 today.
I got chores done and then had breakfast before we cleaned the kitchen and cook some fresh corn on the cob I bought at market yesterday.
We went to church and served our quarterly nursery duty Sunday. #1 son and g-son came in to help with the 5 little ones we had.  I held one of the smaller little boys the entire time.
We left and came home to have lunch with #1 son's family and Aa's family. We had roast beef , mashed potatoes and green beans to go along with the corn.
We picked a tentative date for our summer beach trip depending if we can find a place to stay .
After everyone left hubbie and I had a restful Sunday afternoon. The sun was pretty warm out there today and a few passing clouds threatened rain but none came.
Hubbie and I took a walk around our lower pasture to check to see the damage from the last flood we had. We found a couple places where the fence is down but there are no cattle in the pasture now so they can wait to be fixed. The grass is getting really tall and the Buttercups are making their springtime appearance.

We came back to the house and did chores. The sun reflecting off the clouds made for a pretty picture tonight.
I need to get the last decade pics for April on here today and this one I found from 2009 was a picture of our farm pond at that time. I wish I had taken a pic from this spot today because this view certainly has changed in the last 10 years with all the floods and droughts this old pond has endured during that time.
That's why I love these decade pics , to see the changes that have come over the years is really interesting and surprising some time.
I took the plastic off my hen house windows tonight and all I could think about while I did it was how it seemed like only yesterday that I was putting it on to ward off the cold winter winds that would be coming with winter time. Time is just slipping away and I wish I knew a way to slow each day down and enjoy it longer and deeper but since that's not possible at least I have these pics to look back on and enjoy the memories of fleeting days, months and years.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

MARKET SATURDAY AND 1999 SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL

Up for market this morning and got chores done and got to market on time to meet the first customer to pick up her order of 2 cakes.
Market was okay today but not what I hoped for but I am very thankful for what I did sell.  Daughter and IR came in a little later and stayed for awhile.  Then they left to meet son-in-love at their friends house to dig up some more plants he was giving them.
Hubbie left market and made a stop to pick up more building supplies for daughter's deck at Home Depot and for some new wiper blades for my Pilot at Walmart.
I had some market business to deal with today as usual and then I made stops at Home Depot and Lowes to look at their perennial plants to see if anything jumped out at me to put in the large pot and oval bathtub in the back yard. I didn't see anything I really liked so I came home to unload and put things away.
Hubbie and #1 son have been working on daughter's deck all afternoon so I took the alone opportunity to relax out in the nice warm sunshine for awhile.
I almost went to sleep sitting there but thankfully d-in-love was coming after a camera lense and got me up and inside. I would have probably got a sunburn if I had fallen asleep.
I relaxed inside after she left until hubbie came in from daughters.  I watched the news and then got chores done.
This white Silkie has 5 little silkie chicks and is still sitting on several eggs but I have an idea no more will hatch.

I am really tired tonight and heading for an early bedtime.
To continue the decade series for April here is pics from baseball and softball from 1999. Daughter was in 8th grade and played softball that year.

#2 son played on  the varsity baseball team as a 10th grader and played shortstop for the team.

#1 son also played varsity baseball as a 11th grader and was an outfielder.

Thankful for the blessings of this day.

BAKING AND DOG SEARCH FRIDAY

Yay for T.G.I.F.  !!!  Got chores done and got RL to pre-school then made a stop at Ingles to pick up baking supplies for today.
Back home I had breakfast while IR snacked and hubbie did his chores outside.
I have a couple orders so I have longer baking time today so I started earlier.
I baked 6 caramel, 6 pound cakes and a pan of brownies.  We took a break for lunch and then hubbie tried every way he could think of to get IR to take a nap to no avail.
Just as I was taking the last cakes out of the ovens I got a call from d-in-love saying that a neighbor called and told her Abe her basset hound was out in the road. The high winds that have been blowing today must have shook the gate open to their yard fence and he escaped.
Hubbie took the truck to go look for him and IR and I walked down to their house where Deb and RL were also looking for him. Daughter and g-son came in and they went across the road in Re's pasture to search and Re and the kids also came down to help look.  My niece and her husband saw him in the road and were also searching. With all these people looking with no sign of him  we all figured someone must have picked him up. Then hubbie came driving in with Abe in his truck, we were right someone had picked him up and they had stopped up the road and hubbie happened to see Abe stick his head up in their back seat. He stopped and asked for him and took him out of their car. He said it was 2 young girls and he thought they had just picked him up out of the road and were trying to decide what to do with him.
Anyway at least the search had a good ending.
IR and RL were just glad to have some time together this afternoon and enjoyed donuts and milk.

After everyone left hubbie and I got chores done and then I walked around the farm checking for downed limbs and damage. Thankfully I only found one limb that had fallen into the pasture without even hitting the fence thankfully.  The winds have calmed down this evening thank goodness as earlier it was pretty scary .
This Azalea has really spread out this year and is so pretty.

I came inside and started icing my cakes and getting things ready for market. Market business seems to be picking up a little bit and I am thankful.
I got into bed around midnight.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.

SLOW MARKET AND 1989 CIRCUS

Another sleepless night even with the ice pack on it last night my knee pain was relentless. When I had to go to the bathroom early this morning I thought I was actually going to have to crawl because it hurt so bad to put any weight on that leg.
After I got back in bed and did my stretching exercises  my knee seemed to loosen up and I was able to walk almost normally with a stretching brace on it.
We got the girls ready and got things ready for market. As we went out to get in the Honda it started to lightly rain and I had to go back inside for a rain jacket.
I dropped RL at pre-school and met hubbie and IR at market.
Market was empty of customers this morning and stayed that way pretty much all day. Connie picked up IR about 10:15 and I got some market banking business done while hubbie watched our table.
When I got back he went to the dump and brought out lunch back. He left to go to Home Depot and Sam's Club after we ate.
I am thankful for all I did sell on this very slow day but hoping for better days to come in sales.
I left market and stopped at the bank then went to Aldi and the PO on the way home.
Hubbie helped get things unloaded before he got on the lawn mower. Thankfully the rains have been very sparse and the grass was dry this evening.
Daughter and IR picked me up to go with her to meet a lady with a double baby stroller that she was buying. We don't like her going to meet strangers alone especially with IR along.
She bought the stroller and we came home. She dropped me off and I got a heating pad and put it on my knee to see if it would help any since the ice didn't seem to do any good at all last night.
I was happy that the heat did seem to make my knee feel better and when I went outside to get the evening chores done I was hardly limping.
Hubbie had finished mowing the lawn and had gotten on the tractor to bush hog the upper pasture.
I got chores done and then clipped some unwanted bushes out of some Forsythia bushes I have.
I came inside and caught up my blog post then got back on the heating pad with my knee.
Definitely heading to bed early tonight to catch up on my lost sleep . I am really feeling the sleeplessness of this week tonight.
To continue the decade pics for this month tonight with the kindergarten circus for #2 son's class. His teacher Mrs. Salatino was a wonderful teacher and made school so much fun. #2 son was one of the strongmen in the circus.

Also that month we took a little bottle baby calf into the his class or them to see.

Fun memories of special times in our life.
Thankful for the wonderful blessings thoughout my life and today.

BAKING WEDNESDAY AND 1949 AND 1979 APRIL MEMORIES

Slept pretty good last night after going to bed with an ice pack on my knee. Up to get chores done and get RL off to pre-school.
Late last night hubbie and I loaded the Honda with the rugs, furniture and bed covers so that I could stop by the laundry on the way home this morning if the bigger machines were not in use.
When I arrived at the laundry the biggest machine was in use but 3 of the next size down were open and that's all I needed. I got everything carried in and got the machines started. I had brought a cup of coffee and a breakfast bar along for my breakfast so while things washed I had my breakfast at a table  in the back of the laundry and watched a repair man try to fix a dryer.
I had to laugh when an older man who had asked me about a couple things on one of the washers he was using came back to the table and sat down with me to strike up a conversation. I thought how I guess the laundry mat would be a good place to meet women. I had no interest in talking about current events withthis strange man so I made an excuse to make a phone call and took the rest of my coffee and bar out to my car to finish.
When I came back inside to get things moved to the dryers I saw that the man was talking to another lady. Maybe he was just a friendly person but I got some bad vibes from him.
I got things dried and came home in about an hour. I hung all the rubber backed rugs out on the clothes line to dry in the warm sunshine today.
I got everything else put away and then we had an early lunch since IR had been outside most of the morning and was acting hungry.
I put some asparagus and cauliflower in the oven for hubbie and I and IR had mac and cheese.
After lunch IR wanted to go back outside so hubbie took her and I stayed inside and got my baking started. I baked 6 caramel, 3 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies.
IR finally wore completely out from running around the yard and she fell fast asleep as soon as hubbie sat down with her.
Hubbie took the opportunity to gather trash and recyclables and get his truck loaded for his dump run tomorrow.
IR slept until after her mom got here to pick her up. She had been asleep over 2 hours and she was in a great mood with the rest time.
Hubbie went over to her house to measure for some porch railings he is going to be building for her and IR helped with the measuring.

I spent time this evening going through my photos and getting the April decade pics out which I am very late getting done so I will need to hurry to get them all on here before the end of the month.
The oldest April - - - 9 picture I found was from 1949. This is one of my first cousins, belonging to
mom's sister, named Gertie Mae, Don was her oldest son.

And to speed things along this is me in April of 1979.

And this is a friend of mine in that month, Carl was always there to help me in any way he could.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night.
