MARKET VISIT AND 2020 POTATO HARVEST DONE

Up a little earlier on this Saturday morning to get chores done and meet up with daughter and the girls and #1 son's family to make a trip to the Mills River farmers market.  Son is supposed to do some walking and keep moving around so this will help him to get that done.  The temperature was 32 degrees this morning but the wind was blowing so there was no frost.                                                         CA wanted this plaid shirt on this morning and kept saying Pawpaw when she looked at it.

The market was disappointing as there wasn't many vendors there today, maybe because of the cooler temps or maybe because produce is getting scarce.  Anyway we did find a few things and enjoyed the walking around.

Hubbie and I came through town and made a stop at the depot market on the way home and found some more sweet potatoes of a different variety. Also made a stop at Staples to pick up a new monitor and then got home in time for lunch.                                                                                                                    After we ate we headed up to the garden to finish digging our potatoes.     We have a system that has worked well all week for us. My knees are bad so I stand and dig the potatoes and hubbie's back is bad so he crawls on his knees moving this pad along and picks the potatoes up and puts them in the bucket.
Our crop this year was good and there was a lot of baking size potatoes that we didn't get last year. We got 4 bushel apple boxes full and a couple buckets of small ones from our Kennebec crop to go along with the blue container full of red potatoes.
We also found 3 more spaghetti squash among the morning glory vines that were covering the potatoes.
I came inside to rest and get some supper started when we finished the potatoes. I put some brussell sprouts in the oven to roast and some small red potatoes on the stove to boil while hubbie grilled a couple of the pork chops we purchased this morning at the market.                                                             While things cooked we got chores done and then enjoyed a nice supper before calling it a day and relaxing for the evening.                                                                                                                                Thankful for the blessings of this day and for the bountiful garden harvest that we have been blessed with this season.                                                                                                                                             God Bless and Good Night
