Today started out cool but warmed nicely to around 65 degrees which would have been really warm if the north wind hadn't been whipping around.
After morning chores I headed out on my Avon route to pass out 2 campaigns of books and deliver 3 orders.
Even with only 3 orders I wasn't able to deliver 1,I called and left a message but didn't hear back before I came home.
For lunch I ate a tomato sandwich from our still ripening tomatoes ,better enjoy them while we can !
Hubbie was catching up outside chores,he had the garden cleaned off and I went out to help him bring a fence panel from the bottom pasture up to the back of the garden to keep the dogs from traveling toward the road.
While I waited for him to repair the fence I walked around in the bottom pasture.
Fall is my favorite time of year, but late Fall ,not so much, everything has that dead appearance now.Browns are just not my favorite color. This same place a month ago was a lot more colorful.Wow, what a difference a month makes!I love how the reflection of the sun in the creek looks like shooting stars, click on the picture and you'll see what I mean.
The days are getting shorter and shorter as these 3 o clock lengthening shadows attest to.Between me and the fence post !!!!My ever faithful companions and their shadows.
It was a wonderful afternoon for a walk and when I got back to the house it was still too nice to go inside so I decided to tackle a task I had been putting off for a while. Cleaning out the green house is dangerous when snakes are out but I'm hoping the last few cold days maybe drove the snakes into hibernation. My luck the cold drove all of them into the green house so as I cleaned I was very careful to look before I put my hands on things. I found no snakes thankfully but at one point I thought I heard rattles, but maybe not, whew !!!!I had already put several plants in here before the cold weather came and they are doing great. With the temperatures predicted to be in the upper 60's for this week I'll have to open the window again to keep it from getting too hot in there.
I am surprised at these 2 pots of petunias that are still blooming after being left outside .
They still have their wonderful aroma, especially the purple ones.
Petunias must be hardier than I thought. All my Coleus bit the dust in the recent cold.
I pulled up a huge Geranium to try the dry root method of preserving it. I shook all the dirt from the roots and layed it in a cardboard box lid, a couple times a month I will soak the bare roots in water, next spring it should start growing again. We'll see!I love this new view from inside my sunroom as the sun goes down this evening.
Tired tonight but feeling like I accomplished a lot today to get ready for winter.
Went over some figures tonight for the in-laws old house. Since it hasn't sold and is getting ready to come off the realty agreement we have to decided to rent to own to sis-in-law's brother's wife's parents. Did ya get that !!!!
I am figuring a simple interest payment for them for 2 years at which time they will get their own financing. My mind is boggled with figures tonight and hubbie still has no idea how I got what I got. But I had daughter look it over and she says it makes sense to her.
We are meeting with them tomorrow night to go over the figures and work out the details.
They want to move in before Thanksgiving.
As Veterans Day nears I am thankful that I live in this country where we are free to worship and live as we see fit thanks to those brave souls who gave their lives to preserve those rights for us. I'm always thankful to God that He chose this country as my home.
Good Night and God Bless.
