RECORD BREAKING LOW TEMPERATURE

Well we are finally getting some rain ! A nice slow rain and some not so nice cold temperatures. We sat a new record today for a high 51 degrees. It is supposed to be 43 tonight.
And yes it is the middle of May in the south !!!
Hubby built a fire in the wood stove tonight.

After chores I spent the morning doing laundry and housework. After lunch I got ready to go to my OB for my yearly check up. I wanted to get to Asheville early to stop by the Biltmore House gate house to pick up some more Wassail mix. There was another lady there buying several packs of it and she said she used it in sweet potato casserole.
I am definitely going to try that. I think the flavor would be delicious.I use it in my green tea and have missed having it for the last couple weeks.

My doctors appointment went well,no problems detected, I had a hot flash during the exam which prompted him to suggest HRT which I have refused because of the side effects. Now he says the studies say that there is a benefit for women in their 50's as long as you only take it for a short term. I'll have to do some research.
I've had intermittent hot flashes for almost 15 years,I've kind of gotten used to them and don't really pay any attention.

The rain had slacked some when I came out of his office so I stopped at a large Goodwill store nearby. The prices in this store were extremely high and I was glad I didn't see a thing I needed or even wanted.

Back home I wrapped up on the couch with my 4-legged kids to get warm and watched the news.
As I ate my supper which was vegetable/beef soup made from Sunday's left overs I spotted this little guy outside the window missing a good bit of his tail.Hubbie watched one of our dogs almost catch a squirrel the other day and he wondered if this was the one and she had indeed grabbed his tail. Compared to another squirrel that came in the yard this one is missing about 3-4 inches of his bushy tail. I wonder if it will ever grow back ?

I posted some adds of craiglist tonight for a bush hog Hubbie is selling and some of my chickens. I've already sold the pair of Silkies that I advertised. They'll be picking them up late morning tomorrow.
I'm trying to get my flock trimmed down ready for the new hatch of this year. I am going to put leg bands on all the new ones so I can tell their age. I will gradually sell off all the ones that I already had. After I sell these 2 my grown Silkie flock will be cut down to 7, a white rooster,3 white hens, a red rooster, and 2 red hens.

I worked on my blog book for a while tonight then I baked 32 layers for cakes.

Thankful tonight for God's gift of my health.
Good Night and God Bless

It has been cool here but sunny. Sweaters in May! We are usually swimming.

I love your chickens. The cool wet weather? Not so much.

We had about the same cool temps here in NW GA. Had to pull my heater back out.

I don't know if we broke any records, Marilyn, but it's been DARN cold here all week. We've had a fire in the fireplace since Sunday. Brrrrrrr

Glad you got a good doctor's report... I was lucky not to ever have hot flashes...

Glad you sold some of the chickens. Craig's List can be a good thing.
Hugs,
Betsy
