COOL SUNDAY AND 1964 ME

A cool morning today with a temperature of 62 degrees as I left for church at 10:15.
The clouds are still thick and a light mist is falling as I headed up the road.
I was a "greeter" at church this morning which is always enjoyable for me as I love chatting with all my church family.
The sermon moved on in II Timothy today.  Hubbie, daughter, d-in-love and I were all the family that made it to church this morning.  G-son got up with a slight fever so #1 son stayed home with him and Rebekah's sisters were leaving this morning after their week long visit.
Everyone made it to lunch except #2 son who came in later for left-overs after his golf game.
We had ham, mac and cheese, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and fried squash today.  I hate to see the fresh garden vegetables come to an end but we are lucky to still be getting some late produce from our garden.
After lunch #1 son's family left for the fair, daughter went home to finish her homework in her online classes and Aaron, Rebekah and Evy went home to nap and rest for the evening.
Hubbie and I made a trip to Lowes to buy a new storm door to go on our front door. We have been needing to replace the original one for a long time and today was the day. Now if  hubbie can get it installed tomorrow it will be nice. It is one with a retractable screen and will be so much easier to keep clean.
We also got a new screen for the back french door and hubbie got it installed this evening. It is much easier to open and close and will shut all the way instead of leaving a crack like the old one did.
I spent the evening going through my photos looking for September decade pics.  September was a busy month in many of the years but in 1964 I only found this one picture dated September 1964.
It is of me in a really pretty dress.  Funny I don't remember what the occasion for this dress was but I know I kept this dress  as a remembrance and still have it, it is a mint colored green with see through nylon layered over shiny satin.
This is the one year in elementary school I cannot find a class picture of me for some reason. I remember the old swingset in the background that sat in our front yard for many years.
The high temp today was in the high 60's for a very cool fall feeling day and the clouds hung dark and low all day but no rain fell here. Places to our south and east got hammered with heavy rains this evening so we were some of the lucky ones.
The fifth named storm Edouard is churning around in the  Atlantic but is not expected to cause any problems to any land masses.

Thanking God for all the undeserved blessings He pours out on me each day and praying for the 11 folks who gave their lives to Christ yesterday at the Block Blast, may all the glory be to our loving God .
Good Night and God Bless.

We've been lucky with the hurricanes this year ---so far... I hope we get through the year with nothing hitting the USA...

You Sunday dinners sound delicious... When my kids were young, we'd always put a big roast and lots of fresh veggies in the cast iron skillet early Sunday morning. Then it would be ready to eat when we got home after church... Such great memories.

We had a beautiful weekend --and it's MUCH cooler here. Love it!

Hugs,
Betsy
