BIRTHDAY SHOPPING - JELLY MAKING TUESDAY

Got a rude awakening before the alarm sounded this morning by the barking dogs as they heard the crunching of the driveway gravel under the tires of something coming up the drive. As I peeked out the window I saw a large bucket truck trying to go below and around the house. When he realized the turn was too tight for his size truck he backed up I thought to go down the driveway. Instead he headed up toward the barn, but stopped half way up the hill and sat in his truck.
As he slowly backed down the drive back below the house and stopped I still in my  PJ's  decided I had better let him know someone was home.
As I peeked out the door he came up and introduced himself and told me he was with Sumter Utilities which is what it said on the side of the truck. He said he was here to repair a rusty guide wire on the pole in our yard. As I closed the door and watched him walk around the yard it appeared to me he was scoping out more than the pole guide wire, which by the way had been changed several years ago. After walking around the yard he came back and rang the door bell to tell me it had already been fixed, duh !!!!!
He sat in his truck for what seemed to be an eternity before he cranked up and slowly headed back down the drive.
My guess is he is scoping this area out for the new utility line being proposed for this area.
After all this time I was fully awake so my day got an earlier than usual start.
After chores and breakfast I took a nice walk in the cool morning. There was 1/4" of rain in the gauge from an early morning rain with a passing front but the sun is shining brightly this morning.
As I walked I marveled at  the beauty God creates each day as the leaves start to show their stunning colors and the cool season pasture grass looks so fresh and green.

As I walked by my Fall garden bed below the house I was sad as a rabbit found a way to get into the garden and ate all my broccoli and cabbage plants as well as some of the kale and other things there.
Back inside I spent the morning doing housework.
I took a short vitamin D break before hubbie came in from work then we did chores early so we could take g-son birthday shopping.
When I asked him Sunday what he wanted he couldn't think of anything so I said we'll just go to Walmart and look around.
He was excited to go this afternoon as hubbie and I waited while he finished his homework.
He found plenty birthday gifts that he hadn't thought about. He picked out 4 Lego sets of Star Wars characters and got one WII Batman Lego game.  He also found some other things for his uncle and aunt to get him. He was jumping around and kept saying "thank you, thank you" to us as we shopped for some supplies we needed.
He started right into building his Star Wars heroes when he got home.

I can't believe he is going to be 9 years old on Friday !!!!!
Hubbie and I visited with g-daughter who had a shot today at her 1 month check-up and wasn't feeling up to par.
In fact she made it really clear that she was not happy !!!
She has grown 2 inches and weighed in at 8 lbs and 14 oz.
This must have been taken earlier in the day as she turned 5 weeks old today.
Best big brother ever !!

When hubbie and I came home we finished the chores and I started turning these from yesterday's apples that made all that delicious applesauce into some amazingly pretty and delicious apple jelly tonight.
Hubbie asked if I put some red hots in this to make it this red colored but I didn't add anything to it.
I guess the apples are riper this time and the peels had more red color in them. I did cook the peels with 3 cinnamon sticks to give the jelly a wonderful flavor.
Hubbie made a peanut butter/apple jelly sandwich tonight with the left over jelly.
As I washed up the canning supplies I thought I have only one more thing on my canning agenda for this year now. I want to make that apple/caramel jam I talked about then I can put all these tools away to end another fruitful canning season.
I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart and I know He loves me just as much. Thankful for another blessed day in His loving care.
Good Night and God Bless.

Your early morning visitor would have scared the crap out of me. I think I would have had my trusty shotgun by my side. Sneaky Utility Company!!!! G-son looks so thrilled with his presents; can't believe he will be 9 on Friday. If you have too much apple jelly you can send me some. It sure looks good. Blessings
