HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!!

G-daughter arrived at 7am and went back to sleep but only for about 45 minutes today. Hubbie got up with her and got her breakfast while I did chores . G-daughter was not feeling well this morning and wouldn't eat anything.
After hubbie and I had breakfast he played with her while I got weekly laundry started. G-daughter got sleepy about mid morning and went down for an hour nap. While she napped I worked a little downstairs so I wouldn't make any noise to wake her.
She was in a much better mood when she woke up. We went outside on this 81 degree day to swing and play in the sunshine.
We had lunch then after I got the laundry finished we decided we would drive over to Flat Rock to see how long the line to vote early was. G-daughter needed another nap and we knew she would go to sleep as soon as we put her in the car.
The line was very short to our surprise compared to what we have been hearing of about an hour wait time everywhere. We happily took our 5 minute wait and voted.
I told hubbie as scary as this presidential election is anyway it is fitting that we voted on Halloween !
We came home and hubbie watered the cattle while g-daughter and I played out in the sunroom.
She loves acting silly these days !!!

After d-in-love picked her up hubbie and I did chores early for the second night in a row to get ready for another Halloween event with the kids. I get to wear one more Halloween outfit !!!
Josh and daughter have been going to the Hendersonville campus of Biltmore church and they were hosting a Halloween carnival tonight for kids.
Re and Aa are still working so EL and BB went with hubbie and I .

#1 son's family went and Josh and daughter met us there.
There were alot of people there to enjoy all the games and inflatables.

The group .....minus Josh and #1 son
The first thing to do was this big slide.

Our kids are such different ages we decided to all split up . Hubbie and I took BB

 Josh and daughter took EL,

#1 son and d-in-love had g-daughter

and g-son found his best friend Nicholas .
The inflatables were all to crowded for BB but there were some games he enjoyed playing.

And he definitely wanted to go on the hayride behind this big John Deere tractor.
We heard scary stories as we rode.
Oh my the sky was beautiful !!!!

We didn't ride this train even though BB wanted to as we thought it was being driven way too fast and was making lots of curves and circles unsafely.
He wanted to drive the Gators !!!!
We all had so much fun tonight watching the kids play their hearts out and enjoy themselves so much.
We took BB and EL home to Aa about 8:30 and they should sleep well as tired as they were.
What a beautiful perfect evening for this Halloween fun with another record breaking hot day .
This October has been one for the record books in more ways than one it seems and it looks like November is starting out the same way.
This October has been a busy one for the family with 2 birthdays to celebrate as #1 son turned 35 and g-son broke into double digits with his 10th birthday on the 16th of the month.
A hurricane named Mathew brought the only 1/2 inch of rain we had the entire month and brought devastating flooding to the eastern part of the state.
G-daughter started walking and hasn't stopped moving since around the first of the month.
The weather has been unseasonably warm  with no rain and no frost yet for the season and 4 record hot days.
Our family made what seems to be our monthly bike ride as we all say we should do this more often but it is very hard for all of us to have the time on the same day.
No big news for anybody in particular for the month.
I stayed very busy all month attending all the home volleyball games as well as having a busy market selling month and even volunteering at g-son's school one night for science night. I had to finally give in and go to the doctor with my knee pain. They gave me a cortisone shot and it is much better.
Hubbie and I made a trip to Pickens Flea market but were disappointed with the low number of sellers. We ended the month with trunk or treat at our church on the 30th and a kids carnival at Josh and daughter's church on the 31st which were both really fun for the kids.
October was a month filled with many blessings and I look forward to what my wonderful Heavenly Father has in His plans for me in November.
God Bless and Good Night.

2016 TRUNK OR TREAT

A very warm morning already when I headed out to do the chores before church .
Church was good from 2nd Samuel.
After church we had #1 son's family for lunch of pork loin, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, biscuits and apple crisp for dessert.
G-daughter found a new thing to do today as she rode this horse but only went backward so far !!
After we ate everyone left to get ready for this afternoon's trunk or treat carnival at church and that included hubbie and I.
We got out the old Noah's ark and got it loaded in the Honda along with hubbie's Noah costume.
I am always Noah's wife !!

We did some chores early but since we had to be there at 4:30 to get set up we left a lot to do by flashlight when we get home.
There were about 15 "trunks" setting up when we got there and everyone was having fun.

The festivities started at 5:00 with a puppet show in the church.
There was a refreshment cart filled with popcorn and snow cones. Who would have thought snow cones would be popular at a Halloween event but with the hot afternoon they were the treat of choice.

Hayrides were offered on the brown  grass church lawn.
And of course the trick or treaters were plentiful at the trunks !!!

I am guessing we had close to 500 kids come through the line for a continuous supply of candy donated previously by church members.
Here are my favorite 2 trick or treaters !
A sweet little cupcake enjoyed her first on the move Halloween !!
And g-son found the perfect costume this afternoon as this Ninja is right up his alley !!
This target shooting "trunk" was a popular stop for all the kids. G-son shows off his shooting skills.
Cousins, Maci and Mattie Medlin were cute as buttons in their costumes.
It was a very fun evening for all involved and I only hope that we projected the love of Jesus Christ to the surrounding community tonight and may all the glory go to God .
It felt funny setting up this outside carnival this evening in the 79 degree temperature today and it was hard to find costumes that didn't really burn us up. We are usually scrambling to wear enough layers to keep warm at this event.
As I fed chickens and gathered eggs this afternoon I spotted this fellow and noted the length of the brown is more than the black ends which means a mild winter.

I have noticed the squirrels are not scrambling to harvest acorns and walnuts this year either and the predictions are for a mild winter I just hope we get some rain soon to dampen all the fire tender that is on the ground.
Hubbie and I got home about 7:15 and finished the chores by flashlight and then unloaded the Honda and put things away.
#2 son and Tif came by for a nice visit and picked up their tomatoes we picked up yesterday.
Daughter and Josh picked theirs up earlier this afternoon before we left for the church. We have all ours spread out downstairs so we can keep an eye on them and hopefully they will keep at least for a while.
Thankful for the blessed day today and for a wonderful church family.
God Bless and Good Night.

SLOW PRE HALLOWEEN MARKET DAY

Hubbie was up 30 minutes before me this morning to help Aa get the calves they put up last night loaded in the trailer.
I did the chores and we were actually early to market by a few minutes this morning.
I am in another of my Halloween outfits today. I usually have a witch hat and maybe look a little more festive but with Halloween 2 days away this is all I did.
Market was okay for me because of all the large orders I had but traffic was really sparse today signaling the slow down I have been expecting .
Had a nice visit from a cousin I haven't seen in many years as she and her husband recently retired and moved back here on her parents farm. Joan and I had a nice long catch up time.
Visits from a couple old friends also helped pass a slow day thankfully.
I met daughter and a friend of hers at Aldi to drop off a couple cakes for a fund raiser the friend was helping with  before I did my shopping.
While I was shopping I got a call from a neighbor, Fred Pittillo who had talked to the tomato farmers that have the big field down across the creek from us and he said they were finished picking tomatoes over there and we were welcome to what ever we wanted.
I don't need any more to can but daughter said she would like some to make salsa out of.
After I got home and hubbie and I got things unloaded and put away we headed over to the field to see what was left.

They stopped irragating some time ago and the vines were starting to turn brown and drop their leaves. We managed to find some tomatoes but were amazed at how many were rotting on the vines.
We got us some to store downstairs and eat on for as long as they will last and also got some for all the family to eat.
It actually felt strange to be gleaning tomatoes with the summer time temps this afternoon. As I drove home from market this is the temp in the Honda. 81 degrees for this date broke a 70 year old record for another record high day for this October.

With the summer like weather for most of the month I guess that is why this just doesn't seem like the end of October to me. When I look at the first of November temps it looks like November surely isn't starting out like it should either ????
There is no sign of another hurricane as the season nears it's end for the year. These are the storms for this year .
I did chores then sat outside in the warm evening and watched the sun slowly sink bringing another beautiful Fall day to an end.

We finished the evening relaxing. Hubbie is switching back and forth on the TV between the Clemson/Florida football game and the Cubs/ Indians world series game. I ordered my storage bench online  tonight and am catching my blog up.
I will be glad to get into bed early tonight as I am very tired from this busy week and looking forward to a nice long Saturday night slumber.
Praising God for all the blessings He chooses to send my way each day and for all His grace.
God Bless and Good Night.
