CARL SANDBURG TRIP AND CANNING SEASON STARTED

G-son and g-daughter RL arrived later than usual this morning as d-in-love just has to work 8 hour days this week because of the holiday.
I got chores done and had breakfast then we decided to make a trip to Carl Sandburg's to check on the baby goats .
We met daughter, IR and Addie there and had lunch before we went up to the goat barn.

G-son found another favorite goat since Cinnamon that he picked out several years ago was sold.

RL had a favorite also as she kept coming back to this one.

But it was very hard to keep up with her as she ran from one to the other to make sure she gave all the goats some petting.

IR wasn't sure what she thought of these strange looking animals .

Addie and RL were into the selfie picture taking.

RL rode on Pawpaw's shoulders on the way out and let Addie ride in the stroller. The heat was pretty oppressing today and made us all feel very tired by the time we got back to the cars.
RL was fast asleep before we even got out of the parking lot and g-son had to open his window to keep from going to sleep on the way home as he thought he is much to old for an afternoon nap !!
While RL slept I did the weekly 3 loads of laundry and hubbie and g-son rested in the swings out in the covered patio.
When RL woke up she had a snack and then it was out to play with the chickens.

When mom came after them she had to get into the chicken action also as RL put all of them in her lap.
While they played hubbie and I pulled weeds in the garden and picked cucumbers and bush beans .
After they all left we did chores while listening to distant thunder.
As we came inside the storms seemed to be heading our way but they fell apart before they reached us thankfully as they sounded pretty intense.
#1 son came up after some more scrap lumber and with the help of RL he got her chicken coop almost finished tonight.

I got the 2018 canning season started tonight with these 10 1/2 pints of dilly beans which everyone loves.
I got finished with these with just enough time to right this post and then head to bed .
It is holding on to the high temps tonight as it is still 73 degrees at 11:45 so we may get some storms after all.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night
