GORGEOUS SUNDAY

What a gorgeous morning, not a cloud in the sky to be seen and the temperature is already 35 by the time I got chores done.
Church was special this morning as one of the older gentlemen had a break down after having had surgery for an arterial nose bleed this past week. He was in a lot of pain and probably shouldn't have been at church in his weakened condition.
Daughter's b-friend came to church with us today for the first time, don't know how he took the goings on of today but hopefully he felt the love of the congregation for this man and came away with a good feeling.
I had put a turkey breast in the oven before we left and it was delicious with dressing, mashed potatoes, black-eyed peas, corn and fried okra.
Everyone made it to lunch, then daughter went to check out a horse sitting job,d-in-love and g-son went to a birthday party, #1 son went home and #2 son helped me get the furniture out of the basement to the front porch so I could clean it up. Then he would come back and help me move it to my office.
As I cleaned these 2 pieces up ,again I shook my head at the brown cigarette smoke residue that came off even the wood on these. These 2 pieces of furniture have a special significance to Hubbie ,he says this is the only new furniture his parents ever bought while they were growing up. They hauled them from Baltimore,Maryland to their home here in 1955 some after Hubbie was born.
There was no matching bed frame and he doesn't know if there was ever anymore than just these 2 pieces.
They of course bought other furniture over the years but it was always used until right before his mother died ,she had bought a new couch. The only reason she bought the couch was that she wanted a certain arm height and couldn't find a used one.
I also think furniture is way over priced and shop often at moving sales for ours, but there are several pieces that we did buy new.

In the warm sunshine this afternoon I cleaned out my chick cage and got it ready for the next Silkie that decides to start setting. I have one that started about 10 days ago but thought she was a bit early, so I raid her nest and take the eggs every evening hoping she will soon give up.
As the sun went down I came inside to work more on my office, made a lot of headway tonight getting things put into their places, hopefully I'll finish tomorrow night.
I plan to spend the day outside working on pruning tomorrow in the predicted 65 degree sunny weather.
G-son came back tonight while his mom and dad attended a class at church and he was excited to have his aunt T here to play with.
Thanking God for a wonderful blessing filled day.
Good Night and God Bless.

Enjoy this wonderful weather!

I have rarely bought new furniture myself...seems such a waste of money when you can find the perfect piece for a lot less...just have to look.

Love your pieces!

This is very simular to the bedroom set my Mother had in her bedroom in the house I grew up in. The dresser had a big old round mirror on it though. She had the bed, dresser with stool, chest, hope chest in the set.

What a treasure!!!

God bless and have a marvelous Valentine's Day sweetie!!!
