ANOTHER BUSY MARKET DAY AND 1982 WORLD'S FAIR VISIT

Market was busy again today, thankfully. Daughter sold her 7 gallons of blackberries all out early and although we didn't sell out of cakes we sold well and even sold several craft items, reminding me that I need to find some sewing time !
Daughter left early to go up to church to decorate her VBS room but the crowds had thinned and I had no problem keeping up after she left.
Picked up baking supplies on the way home and made it home under dark, threatening skies before any rain came. In fact no rain ever came out of the dark clouds that hung around most of the afternoon.
After hubbie helped me unload we worked in the garden for  awhile. #1 son was working on a boat he bought and hubbie helped him some. I came back to the house and put potatoes and Buttercup squash in the oven to go with the rib-eye steaks I brought home for our supper.
I found these squash at Park's Seed company this spring and decided to try them as I love Acorn squash and these are supposed to be sweeter. It was delicious.
I cut it in half and put a pat of butter with some raw sugar and cinnamon in the cavities after scraping the seeds out.

My cousin Mike stopped by for a visit this evening and we sat outside while we visited enjoying the cool evening air.
Thankful for a relaxing evening and the opportunity to do absolutely nothing.
Back in 1982 relaxing was the last thing on my mind. The world's fair was held in Knoxville,Tenn. that summer and we braved the heat and went, thinking it might be the only time a world's fair would be this close to our home.

It was hot but we enjoyed the fair. This is hubbie with #1 son.
After spending several days at the fair we decided to drive up to Williamsburg,Va. for a couple days just because we had never been there.
We stopped and got a room in a hotel near Williamsburg so we would have only a short drive the next day. We happily put #1 son to bed and were glad for a restful night after the long walks at the fair.
Just as if someone pushed a start button, when I woke up the next morning I was very sick. It didn't take me long to recognize the sickness, it was morning sickness !!  We were not trying for another baby,#1 son was only 9 months old !  Hubbie kept saying "maybe you just ate something" , but I knew better.
Unable to shake the sickness with any of the remedies I had used in my first pregnancy we decided to head home.  That was a loooooonnnngggg drive home, believe me and I remember poor #1 son wasn't a happy traveler either and hated being coped in his car seat for that long at a time.
Whew !!!  We were never so glad to be in our own home that night !!
And sure enough a couple weeks later my pregnancy was confirmed and #2 son was on his way. And I had morning sickness the whole 9 months, yuck !!

My prayers tonight go out to a family in our church  as one of my friends and graduation classmates is losing her battle with a liver disease tonight in a hospital in Chapel Hill,NC. She has been there for over a month after being rushed to the hospital in an unresponsive state after her kidneys also shut down. She has been on dialysis during that time hoping to get well enough for a liver transplant but that is not to be as her team of doctors can do no more to improve her condition. She understands the situation and has opted not to be left on dialysis. Her husband and son were hopeful that they could arrange to get her back home and in the local Elizabeth House but that did not look possible today.
She has been the music director at our church for over 20 years and is an accomplished organist. Heaven will sound a little sweeter when she gets there and she will be pain free for the first time in a long time. I pray for her family as they deal with her passing and ask God to bask them in His love during this time.
Good Night and God Bless.

Prayers for your friend tonight, Marilyn.... Those situations are always so hard on the family/friends... BUT--as you said, she'll be pain free and enjoying her music in heaven soon...

My two youngest sons are only 16 months apart.... I had a terrible time getting pregnant with my 2nd son (about 7 yrs. difference)---so I never dreamed I would have a baby again so soon after Mark was born... SURPRISE!!!!! ha

Glad you had a good market day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Blessings for your friend and her family. Oh, if I had morning sickness I think my daughter might have been an only child.

My name is Alex, I am from Ukraine, I am 32 years old man. I don't smoke cigarettes and don't drink alcohol. My blood is O+ and I have a good health. If you need liver transplant I am ready to give part of my liver, but I want to receive a big compensation for that...
