RAIN, THUNDER, LIGHTENING, HIGH WIND, SNOW !!!!!

Wow another sleepless night of storming. The thunder was loud and the lightening was constant. The rain at times was deafening but thankfully the brunt of the storms seemed south of our area.
At almost 2am things finally quieted down and I went to sleep wondering what I would wake up to after hearing the winds gust very high.
This morning at least the sun is breaking through the clouds and I was extremely surprised to find only 6/10ths inch more rain in the gauge from the overnight storms.
However thousands of folks are without power this morning and there is a lot of damage in areas south of us.

Thankfully the occupants of this totally destroyed mobile home near Greenville,SC escaped without injury.
As the sun warms the morning the wind is already starting to gust as I got chores done and got ready for market. Our area is in the bullseye for damaging wind gust through tomorrow morning and with all the recent rain the ground is so soggy I'm sure trees will continue to fall.
Market was okay today for a windy cool Thursday in April.
I left market and ran my regular in town errands, stopped by a fresh produce stand and then made stops at Aldi and Walmart to pick up baking supplies and groceries.
I made it home at 4:00 and got things unloaded and put away. I had a memory flash back as I got things unloaded into the basement as usual but then instead of driving up to the front yard in my regular parking place and coming in the front door as usual because of the high winds I left the Honda below the house and carried all the groceries up the basement stairs to the kitchen. When we first built this house the basement was our parking garage and this is how we always got the groceries inside.
After a nice rest and watching the early news we did chores in a cold wind. I put extra wind guards around all the setting Silkie hens I have. Seems Mother Nature is bound and determined to interfere with my hatching rates this season !  So far with the two setters that sat through the cold nights a couple weeks ago I have only one live chick.
Hopefully this cold spell won't be as low and these eggs will stay warm under these mamas.
Back inside hubbie and I had a couple ears of fresh corn that I bought at the fruit stand today and it was very good.
With the temperature steadily dropping this evening and the winds still gusting around 45 mph it is a nasty night to be outside anywhere tonight but especially in our higher elevations as the snow starts to pile up and now the weather gurus say some areas could get as much as a foot of snow ????
The roads are starting to get slick and visibility is almost 0 in some areas.

In our area we are supposed to get maybe a few flakes but just high winds and cold with chill factors in the mid teens.
Thankfully this cold snap is short lived and we will be back to spring before the weekend is over.
I am headed to bed early tonight for a catch up night of sleep hopefully.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and the safe loving arms of my loving Lord.
God Bless and Good Night

We had that same weather here on Wednesday. Still have the high winds but now we are in for some sunshine the rest of week. So glad to hear there wasn't any damage to you house. Have a great weekend and God bless you and your family.
