GOOD BYE MAY

Up to greet g-daughter IR as Kristen heads to get Addie ready for school. She was tireder this morning as neither of them slept very much last night.
D-in-love is going into work late today and had taken g-son to school and went to pick up breakfast for all of us in her way home.
IR was very glad to see her cousin RL and they ate their breakfast side by side and started playing very good together. D-in-love went on to work and hubbie and I played with the girls waiting for a call from daughter to let us know what today's plan was.
She called and said she was waiting on the doctor to come to check her out.
The girls both got tired about 11:00 so we put them in the Honda and went to Tractor Supply for chick feed and they both fell asleep on the way home.
We carried them inside and they both took good naps. Hubbie also took a nap while I baked cakes.
I baked 6 caramel, 1 coconut, 4 pound cakes and a pan of brownies.
Hubbie played outside with the girls when they woke up and when I got the last cakes from the ovens I joined them.
The report on CA was good as all her vitals have settled down and and they are trying to get moved into a transition room.
IR and RL had a blast playing this afternoon  and d-in-love captured some good pics trying out her new phone.

Son-in-love came to pick up IR and stay home with her tonight and #1 son is going to the hospital to spend the night with daughter and CA. Thankfully they got moved into one of the transition rooms so she has a crib and daughter has a bed in there.

What a rough beginning for this sweet little girl and she isn't putting up much of a fuss with all the prods and needle sticks.I iced the caramel and coconut cakes after the girls left.
Hubbie and I got chores done early and headed over to the hospital to visit this evening.
CA looks better tonight but is a little yellow with jaundice setting in.
We left after about 2 hours and son and daughter were getting settled down for the night.
I wrapped and got things ready for market when we got home and had another late night but not quite as late as last night.
To wrap up the May decade series this is what was happening in May of 2009, Dusty, sis-in-law Sandy's brother got married that month on a farm in South Carolina and we all went.
This is the 4 generations together for one of the last times at this wedding.
We also made a trip to Sunset Beach and went the the Aquarium and Board Walk at Myrtle Beach.

This is the last day of May and this month has bee a dry month and warmer than normal almost every day so things are drying out quickly and the drought zone is inching closer to each no rain day we have.

And June is going to start out with the continued streak of well above normal days.
Another hospital sunset pic of the muggy evening over Asheville.
Thankful for the memories and blessings through the years.
Praying tonight that g-daughter CA gets better and is on the way to recovery.
God Bless and Good Night.

G-DAUGHTER MOVED TO MISSION HOSPITAL

Up to Kristen bring IR by and then hubbie left to take g-son to middle school.  I got chores done and got ready for market. IR always rides in "pawpaw's truck" on the way there. She was happy to get to play at market until other g-ma , Connie picked her up to take her to her house and wait for the arrival of mom, dad and baby sister who is being released today.
Hubbie came back to market after he went to the dump and helped pick up all the food for our Old Timey Day celebration coming on Saturday. We are serving a hot dog lunch to go with other festivities.
I sold good today and am very thankful for all I did sell.
Got a call from daughter and there is some concern about new g-daughter's ,who I am going to start referring to as g-daughter CA , her breathing has gotten harder and they are waiting to check her at the 48 hour mark before they release her.
I went to Aldi and Walmart on my way home and just realized I forgot to do weekly paperwork and pay bills last night as I usually do on Wednesday night. I will have to do that tonight.
Hubbie helped me get unloded when I got home and then I got a call from daughter saying they weren't going to get to go home today as g-daughter CA's blood sugar had plummeted
and her breathing along with her heart murmur had gotten much worse. Daughter was pretty upset so hubbie and I started hurrying through early chores and we headed to the hospital.
When we got there the staff at Park Ridge had decided to transfer CA to Mission Hospital in Asheville to the NICU until for better care and to find out what was going on quickly.
Another time watching the sunset over this hospital's parking lot reminded me of #1 son's long stay here years ago.

Hubbie and I helped get ready for the move and then followed the ambulance to Mission.
As soon as we got there they  took x-rays and said her heart and lungs looked okay and her blood sugar had leveled out with the glucose in the IV they had put in at Park Ridge.
They called in an electro-cardiogram tech and found a large hole in CA's heart that was causing the heart murmur but found nothing that caused the blood sugar drop.
The hole in her heart they think will close on it's own because it is located in the muscular part of her heart. Their main concern now is her fluctuating blood sugar counts.
I got to go into the NICU for a few minutes and she looked a lot better and her breathing had calmed down quite a bit.
They aren't in a room but just a cubical surrounded by curtains with machines hooked to her everywhere. Daughter and son-in-love will have to go out of the NICU into a small "sleep room" between feedings to rest.
Hubbie and I got home at 2am and were very tired. I took a hot bath trying to get relaxed enough to get to sleep. When I get over tired it is hard for me to get to sleep.
Since it is obvious that I am writing this later and back dating it I need to continue the decade series of May 1999. There was an article in the local newspaper about the 75 years the Curb Market had been open and I was in the main picture with one of my egg customers back then.

Also #1 son had his junior prom that month . In the first pic he and his date are between the moms.

Praying hard tonight that things settle down for g-daughter C and the doctors and staff figure what is going on and are able to fix it quickly.
And praying that daughter gets some rest for her body as she recuperates from delivery.
God Bless and Good Night

BUSY WEDNESDAY

Up to greet IR this morning as Kristen heads to drop Addie at school and get to work. Hubbie left to pick up g-son and get him to school. Deb, RL's other g-ma is keeping her today.
When hubbie got back I got morning chores done and then we had breakfast. IR seems tired today so I'm sure she didn't sleep well at all last night.
K said she cried herself to sleep but then seemed to be okay but was up at 6:00.
The three of us went over to the hospital this morning so she could be with her mom ,dad and sister.
She warmed up to her sister a little more this morning and even asked to hold her.

We stayed until about 12:00 and IR was really sleepy so she went to sleep on the way home and slept a good nap.
While she napped hubbie gathered trash and recyclables and I baked cakes, I baked 6 caramel, 4 pound cakes and 1 pan of brownies.
I was getting the last ones from the oven when Kristen came by to pick up IR to take her with her to Addie's dance practice and then to the hospital.
Hubbie and I aren't going back over tonight as we have to get ready for market tomorrow.
Re has a staff meeting at the hospital and she wants to visit daughter and the baby while she is there so EL and BB are staying with us for a while this evening. RL came up to play with them for awhile.
BB had to help me shovel and rake the dirt back up around my Hostas since the chickens have scratched it all down into the driveway.

We got chores done then I iced cakes and got things ready for market.
The pictures from the hospital were cute tonight as IR warmed up even more to baby sister giving her hugs and kisses.

Back in May of 1989 we had a pre-mature little calf that it's mother rejected so we bottle fed it with the help of the kids. We kept it around the yard and even at times in the house.

#2 son had a track meet that spring and I helped with the baton pass at of the legs of the relay. Son is in the yellow shirt and black shorts.

Another pic of #2 son that spring.
Thankful for the memories and the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

WELCOME G-BABY #4, ANOTHER LITTLE GIRL

Today is another way above normal hot day. Hubbie took g-son to school this morning while RL and I watched morning cartoons .
Connie, son-in-love's mom spent the night at their house last night as they had to be at the hospital at 5:30 this morning to begin the induction of the new baby.
I got chores done and hubbie , RL and I had breakfast. RL wanted to play outside so hubbie went with her and I stayed inside and changed the furniture covers and some of the décor to freshen up the house and get ready for a new month.
I worked until lunch time and then we all had lunch together.  After lunch RL and hubbie watched TV and I finished the baby's crocheted blanket it is nice and soft and is a pretty color.

When IR woke from her nap Connie brought her here and left her with hubbie and she and I went to the hospital.  Daughter was 5 & 1/2 centimeter dialated and we knew the the second half of the 10 centimeters needed goes a lot faster than the first half.
We sat in the room with them for about 15 minutes before daughter started having sick feelings and summoned the nurse.
The baby was almost here when she checked her so Connie and I went to the waiting room  and the doctor was called.
Only about 30 minutes later at 4:05 little new g-daughter made her appearance without any trouble.
She weighed only 6lbs and 12 oz so she is a tiny baby.

We are proud grandparents once again.

IR came over but wanted nothing to do with her new little sister at all. Even with the doll they had gotten for her to take care of while mommy took care of her baby sister.

This is going to be a big adjustment for this little girl but I'm sure she will be just fine after they all get home and settled.
Hubbie and I came home and did evening chores and then we crashed after a rewarding day.
Daughter had some scary blood pressure issues during labor and she didn't look good at all but I am so thankful that things turned out okay for both her and the baby.
Thankful tonight for the blessing of new life in our family and praying for a good night for both of them tonight.
God Bless and Good Night
