GOOD BYE SEPTEMBER 2019

Up to get another week started and close out another busy month of this year.
We got g-son to school and then hubbie went with me to drop RL off at her pre-school. We needed to go by the Curb market and get the money from old timey day last Saturday and get it deposited in the bank.
We got that done and then drove to Fletcher feed to pick up chicken feed. I don't know why all of a sudden all the utilities and the DOT has decided now would be a good time to work on the roads and utility lines but seems like everywhere you go right now there is some reason that traffic is stopped or detoured. So every trip and errand takes longer than usual.
We made it home and got the feed all unloaded and then had a late breakfast.
Hubbie went outside to do some work around the yard and I started changing out my apple décor of September to the pumpkin and leaves décor for October and November.
I also got the weekly laundry going. My washer is continuously getting out of balance when it tries to spin and I am having to watch it more closely.
I got one load of laundry done before it was time to go pick up RL. We took some chicken nuggets and snacks with us to picnic at the park with daughter and IR and CA.
We went to Laurel Park again today and there were several kids playing there today also. The girls were pursued by some of the little boys who wanted to play with them but RL and IR wanted nothing to do with them.

CA got to sit and ride in the stroller for the first time today and she enjoyed the ride over to the coffee shop so daughter and I could get an iced coffee.
We played until it was time to get home so hubbie could go pick up g-son. RL and IR came home with hubbie and I so they could play while daughter took CA home to get a nap.
Daughter and d-in-love came in about the same time to pick up the kids.
Just about the time they were leaving rain started pouring down and we got a little over 3/10ths inch before the storm passed by us.
Hubbie and I got chores done then I gathered all the remaining bell peppers from our plants.
Hubbie brought in a couple heads of our cabbage that is coming along nicely and we started chopping it up with the peppers and some red and hot peppers I bought at market last Saturday along with some purple onions for some chow chow relish.
We chopped everything , covered it with salt water and let it work for an hour.
Then I put it in a pot with spices and vinegar and let it simmer and boil for another 20 minutes before putting it in jars and water bathing it for 15 minutes. The results were 9 jars of this beautiful delicious chow chow relish that will taste so good with beans and other things.
As we say good bye to September with a beautiful sunset after the rain of the afternoon I feel it is a fitting end to a month that has finally been a full month of progress for CA making each day look brighter.
September started off with the Apple Festival on Labor day weekend which we attended with daughter and RL and IR while d-in-love sat at the Curb Market and took care of CA.
RL started her 3rd year of pre-school at Mud Creek Christian school on the Tuesday after Labor day and is loving it as usual.
RL also celebrated her 4th birthday this month.
#2 son and Tif got their house started with the footings and blocks layed for the foundation.
I stayed busy baking cakes for a pretty busy sales month at market and I made apple jelly, froze broccoli and made chow chow  relish from the late garden produce from our garden.
I had a guinea hen hatch a whole bunch of keets and we managed to gather them and her and get them in a brooder box. She is a much calmer and better mama than the previous guinea and keets that hatched earlier this summer. I still haven't managed to count how many keets she has but it is close to 20.
The weather for this month has been really nice but hot and dry so we have had many opportunities to have fun at the parks and apple houses in the community and the girls have enjoyed it even on the record breaking heat days we have had multiple times.

This month broke the record for warmest September on record.

We ended the month with the Old Timey Day at market that was on one of the hot days but everyone made it a success.
Last but surely not least it has been a great month to watch CA turn into a normal, smiling, kicking , moving around 4 month old baby and act like she is getting completely over her heart trouble.
So very thankful as I look back over this month and get ready to begin a new one that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is with us each and every day.
God Bless and Good Night

RECORD BREAKING HOT DAY

A relaxing Sunday morning to catch up on some zzz's today.
I got chores done and then had breakfast while we got potatoes peeled and corn shucked and on the stove to cook along with some dried lima beans in the pressure pot to be ready when we all get home from church.
Church was good and #1 son's family, daughter's family and Ben's family joined us for lunch for roast beef , green beans, biscuits to go along with the potatoes, corn and lima beans and baked apples for dessert.
Everyone enjoyed lunch and had a good visit.
After everyone left hubbie watched a race on TV and I put away laundry.
I walked outside for a while this afternoon until I got sweaty in the record breaking heat of 90 degrees today.

The humidity must be really high also as it feels like a sauna this evening. Thankfully by next weekend we are at least going to be closer to normal temperatures .

We got chores done and then relaxed for the evening.
This guy flies over our place routinely and I always say he is crazy to get that high with what sounds like a lawn mower motor buzzing to keep him in the sky.  Brave or crazy ????? What do you think ??

I did notice that there is a lot of leaves just turning brown or yellow and falling off the trees already.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

FALL OLD TIMEY DAY AT MARKET

Hubbie got up at 6am today and managed not to wake me up until I heard him close the door on his way out to load the Honda at 6:30.
He left to get to market to help with getting things set up for Old Timey Day and get the old wood cook stoves fired up to cook the biscuits and meat on.
I got up and got ready while I waited on daylight so I could get the chores done. It is cloudy this morning but very warm and muggy.
I got to market at 8:30 and got set up with the help of IR who is getting good at carrying cakes around the counter for me to arrange.
I also had another helper for part of the day in CA who was a customer attention getter with her sweet smile.
Hubbie helped cook all morning and there was a pretty good crowd meandering around listening to the music and checking out the old cars and tractors on display.

Our sales were okay but not what I was expecting however I am thankful for all that we did sell.
Daughter and I did the paperwork and counted money late after everyone was gone so I could make a bank deposit so we were late loading and didn't get left until 3:00.
Son-in-love had picked up IR from the market before lunch and took her to Laurel Park to play and she loved it.
RL had 2 birthday parties to attend today and this morning she was at Mountain Play Lodge in Asheville with RC (in orange) a little boy in her pre-school class and it looks like they and their other good friend Mosimo had a great time.

Hubbie and I were both pretty wiped out and as a storm moved in as soon as we got inside the house we both crashed and napped while it rained 3/10ths of inch with pretty close thunder and lightening.
We got chores done then delivered some mums daughter bought that she had put in the back of hubbie's truck to haul home , picked up roast beef from Re for lunch tomorrow and dropped some clothes off at #1 son's. RL was trying on her Halloween costume that she picked out.

We came home and crashed once again and got an early bedtime.
It will feel so good to get an extra hour of so of sleep in the morning.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and thankful for the rain we got this afternoon.
God Bless and Good Night

FUN FRIDAY

T. G. I. F.   once again has arrived quickly and it seems like it was just yesterday that it was Friday a week ago.
We got g-son and RL off to school and then made our weekly Sam's Club stop on the way home.
We came home and spent the morning cleaning the house. I changed out all the furniture covers and bed covers and was mopping when daughter came over with her girls.
She helped me change the curtains in the living room since she is taller than me and could reach without climbing the little ladder I was climbing.
Deb brought RL here when she picked her up from pre-school since she wanted to play with IR.
We had a quick lunch and then Deb, daughter and I took RL and IR up the road to the apple farm we had visited before while hubbie stayed here with CA in the cool house.
The girls had lots of fun as usual at the farm.

After we played and watched the ducks we had some apple slushies and ice cream to cool off before we headed home.
We came home so hubbie could go pick up g-son and IR modeled her Halloween costume that her mom had gotten her .
After they all left I baked my cakes for the day. I baked 6 caramel and 4 pound cakes and let them cool while I did chores.
#1 son and d-in-love were going out to dinner tonight with some friends so RL and g-son came back to spend the evening with us.
RL helped me ice cakes and then after they left we got things ready for market.
Tomorrow at market is Old Timey Day so we are getting up earlier than a usual Saturday.
Thankful for all the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

A BUSY SEPTEMBER 2009

A busy hectic morning as hubbie got g-son to school while I got ready for market with RL and IR who daughter dropped off on her way to market earlier.
I got chores done and then we all headed out . I dropped RL at pre-school where she was so excited because there was a big firetruck there for them to tour today.
I met hubbie and IR at the Curb market and we got set up and then we all took turns with the girls.
There was a letter from waiting for me from the NC internal revenue that said our market taxes were not paid in 2014. I spent some time researching this and found that the then treasurer must not have paid them. GRRRRRR,   another stop for me at our tax man's office after market today.
Market sales were pretty slow today but we are thankful for what we did sell.
Connie, IR's other g-ma picked her up for a while today and CA seems to be cutting a tooth so she was a little fussy but we made it without any trouble. Hubbie went to the dump and brought us lunch back from Hotdog World.
We were getting all the supplies ready for our Old Timey Day celebration Saturday between customers.
Hubbie picked all the meat up from the supplier and got it all put in coolers to thaw .
We all left market and hubbie went to pick up g-son from school, daughter went to pick up IR and I ran my errands and stopped at Aldi on the way home for baking supplies.
Hubbie helped me unload and put things away then we both rested and watched the news.
We got chores done and then relaxed for the evening.
My last September decade pics are in 2009 and there is a lot of them as it was a busy month with this sweet little g-son.

Our church always had a Block Blast celebration each September back then and g-son enjoyed it so much he crashed before it was over.

Daughter and her "little sister" Kaitlyn with a tuckered out g-son.
Hubbie was part of the security team each year and patrolled in a golf cart.
D-in-love played her violin .
That year we had a well drilled in August and between the rains we poured a pad and built a house over the new pump with the help of #2 son was layed all the blocks and of course g-son had to be a part of all that was going on .

#1 son brought in his machines and covered all the lines while g-son mimicked his dad with his toy track hoe.
We took g-son to the fair on grandparents day that year and he rode every ride 2 or 3 times and had a blast.

There was one big flood that month.

This flood ended our watering hole spot in the creek because this was too much sand to shovel.

Market was busy for me all month and ended with a rainy Old Timey Day.

We had several head of cattle back then .
And my faithful companions Sadie and Annie who I miss everyday even now and they have both been gone for several years.

Some of my Fall décor on my porches that year.

Whew!!!   When I look back at how busy our family was in past years it makes me happy that we never missed much in life and we always stayed involved in our kids and now our grandkids activities and fun times.
Thankful for good health and blessings each and every day.
God Bless and Good Night
