GARDEN UPDATE FOR OCTOBER

Up to a cloudy Sunday morning. I got chores done and then had breakfast before starting to get Sunday lunch ready. We had cooked 2 of the roosters from the freezer in crockpots overnight and hubbie was shredding the meat from them while I cooked rice. We combined the two back into one crockpot and then made green beans, corn on the cob, glazed carrots and biscuits.  Everyone made it to lunch and we had a nice visit afterward while all the kids played. The clouds got thicker and the wind kicked up and ran all the kids inside out of the coolness. After everyone left hubbie and I spent a quiet afternoon watching the rain fall outside. The temperature dropped into the lower 60's with the rain and the cold front that is getting closer.  I went out to get the chores done in a break in the rain and remembered to take the October garden pics. There isn't much left in the garden these days but we are still getting peppers, tomatoes, okra, yellow squash and we haven't dug all our potatoes yet.

Raspberries did well this year and they are the over next to the garden fence in this picture followed by about 6 tomato plants that are still producing.

We have a couple bell pepper plants and a couple hot banana pepper plants still producing in this pic.
Our potato patch we leave overgrown with grass and weeds to help hold the soil over the potatoes, we probably be digging these in a couple weeks.
On the other side of the potato patch in the Kale I planted a couple weeks ago and at the end of that row is the newly planted collards we are hoping will come up this time and then the row of newly planted cabbage and broccoli.
The Okra looks naked and probably just gave us the last cutting of okra yesterday, then we have a couple yellow squash plants still producing squash, then the rows of broccoli and cabbage that we plan to cover with the plastic row cover, followed by the late planted Dolly Parton tomatoes.
And these Pink Banana squash are almost ready for storage and pie making .
The rain got heavier as I came inside and is supposed to continue for the next several days.  Hubbie and I spent a restful Sunday evening recharging for another busy week.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

Looks like your garden did well this year. So happy for you. Wish I had the ambition to even grow my own tomato plants. Thankfully my church friend keeps me supplied with here overflow.
