2010'S ONLY FRIDAY THE 13TH

Did you know that today is 2010's only Friday the 13th ????
This fear may have originated in Biblical times as the traitor Judas was said to have been the 13th guest at the table during the Last Supper.
As for me today went pretty smoothly.
I started out baking, then iced some caramel cakes. Hubbie was off today and he decided even with the heat he needed to mow the lawn and run the weed eater as it is supposed to rain all weekend.
After lunch I went out to help with some trimming of the butterfly bushes that have grown into the driveway . I wound up going around the yard trimming different bushes that had been neglected during the summer so far.
I know I sweated a gallon or so while I was out there, I had to take a towel to keep mopping the sweat from my face so I could see. Another 94 degree day,wow !!!
#1 son called and said he was kind of sick at his stomach and had canceled his PT for today. He asked if I would fix some chicken noodle soup and have it ready when he got here. I always keep some on hand ,I'm a firm believer in chicken noodle soup for upset stomachs.
He ate the soup and his nurse came with all the new dressings for the cut in the side of his leg. He is now using Dakin's solution soaked filler bandages to try to dissolve the dead tissue. She explained this solution as a combination of bleach, hydroxide and baking soda. It surely smelled bleachy. This solution is supposed to eat away the dead tissue while leaving the healthy tissue alone. I hope it works and this wound heals quickly.
There was only 2 drugstores in town that carried the Dakins so it must not be used very often.
After she got him all set ,he was hungry and ate chicken and green beans for supper with us. He had a headache when she got here and she told him she thought he might be getting dehydrated because of the stomach troubles of the day.
After he left hubbie and I went to finish work at church, the skies were dark with clouds but no rain came.
We put flea control drops on Annie and Sadie tonight as we put them up for the night. Fleas are really bad around here right now. They don't like these drops but they wouldn't like the infestation of fleas they'd have if they didn't get them either, so sorry girls. Even with the drops there is still some fleas on them!
Here's hoping the weathermen get it right this time !!!
An 83 degree market day would definitely be totally awesome.
But then again they missed today's high by about 6 degrees !!!!

It's 11:30 , I've got 1 more coconut cake to ice , I'm waiting for the coconut to thaw while I'm writing this and then it's a long bath and a cool bed.
30 more minutes of this Friday the 13th and if you are a superstitious person ( which I'm not ) you can sigh a collective relief sigh for the rest of the year.
God is good and sends His blessings down all around even on Friday the 13th !!
Good Night and God bless.

Sounds like you had a successful day.

May your weekend be blessed also.

I could use an extra prayer if you have one to spare, thanks.

Love the looks of your Mountain calendar! I would surely like some 80 degree weather! Just hope you don't so much rain you flood. Oh, by the way, I am still getting my piano. Ronnie left this morning. Yay!
Take care and God Bless.

Hi Marilyn, We made it through Friday the 13th with no problems also.. We went to Hendersonville to check on George's parents. They seemed tired and feeble --but otherwise okay. Guess when I'm 98, I'll be tired and feeble also!!!! ha

Glad you had a good day. It is still miserably hot here --and I'm having trouble with my feet swelling.. Am trying to drink lots and lots of water. Having to cut out the salt on my tomatoes and cukes. Darn!!!

Hope No. 1 son is better today... Bless his heart. I'm sure he is discouraged.

Have a nice weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
