COASTLINE DODGES BULLET NAMED EARL

No g-son today, he has a stomach virus, #1 son called late last night to say he was throwing-up and had a fever of 102, bless his little heart. I hate for him to be sick ,only 2 days of school and already sick, not a good start !!
I worked outside for a while this morning,it felt so good with temps in the 60's to start the day. I cleaned out my chicken coup and relined the nest with fresh hay .
After reluctantly coming inside I baked my cakes for today and iced 6 caramel cakes. I never know what to expect on this Saturday so it's better to be prepared for the best.
After lunch I did a load of laundry of hubbie's new uniform shirts to soften the collars.
Then I took a much needed break, did simply nothing all afternoon, ahhhh, it felt good to just relax in the quiet solitude . I don't like radios ,I like to listen to nature or the quietness of nature.
Hubbie and I finished work at church tonight and I came home to finish icing and wrapping. We loaded my van so we can get an early start in the morning.
Update on Hurricane Earl, luckily NC coast dodged a bullet, it stayed off the coast and caused minimal damage. The Outer Banks got some strong winds as evidenced by these power poles. These machines clear the sand from the only road that runs along the Outer Bank Islands.I have traveled this road several times, the sand dunes are one side and the sound is on the other side.
In other news of the day this was the first day of the Apple Festival in down town. The news said there were very good crowds today.
With the cooler temperatures with very little chance of rain for the next 3 days all the farmers should have a good festival. I know some of them depend greatly on sales from this festival to make or break their season.
#1 son and g-son came by tonight and he was feeling much better, still looks a little peaked but was eating and acting normal. I wish I could bounce back from illness like a child can ! Oh the blessings of youth !!!
Off to bed early tonight for an early wake up call.
Thank God for the blessings of today.
Good Night and God Bless.

Have a wonderful blessed weekend.

If you can spare some rain, send it my way, the ponds are dropping.

Glad Grandson is feeling better. Yes----wish we had the energy and stmina of a child!!!!!

Looks like you have a perfect weekend for the festival. I'm sure you will be busy as a bee today at the market. How is your knee?

Our temps got down into the 40's last night... Great sleeping weather... Supposed to be in the low 70's all weekend during the daytime... LOVE it.

BUT--we didn't get one drop of rain from that front. We are still desperate for rain... Guess we'll be watering the yard most of the week.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
