EARLY SUMMER DECORATIONS AND SPARROW ADVENTURE

Off to school this morning with all the furniture and bed covers that I took off from last month in the van. Since I have a very nice laundramat less than 2 miles from my house and they have these huge machines that can hold all my covers in one wash I feel this is better than doing it at home in about 3 or 4 loads. I was hoping for some sunshine to dry them in today but looks like I will be using my dryer 3 times.
A lady from church was at the laundry doing her wash so we had a nice visit while the machines ran. They have one very large machine which cost $7.75 but it held all my covers in one wash that only takes 24 minutes !!
Back home about 9:00 the chickens and dogs were extra glad to see their late breakfast coming.
I spent the cloudy cool morning housecleaning. After a chicken salad lunch I baked 6 caramel,3 chocolate and 2 wine cakes.
While the last cakes were in the ovens I worked on changing my decorations from spring to early summer in all the rooms.
I used 2 of my wildlife plates for a nice set on the wood stove. With a blue livng room theme they worked beautifully.

Out in the sunroom I mostly stayed with blue but expanded into some pinks and yellows.

When I got home with g-son from school he asked to swing outside while I made his mac and cheese. Just after I got it in the microwave I heard him yelling for me from the front porch. When I looked out the door I saw him sitting and stroking this little fellow, a White Throated Sparrow.

He had apparently flew into the bay window and appeared very dazed.

G-son was intent on taking care of it until he could fly away because of the dogs who were gathered around watching it.He gently guided it to fly up on the window sill.

Soon the little bird hopped up into the azalea bush and then flew to a nearby tree, thrilling g-son because he knew the little bird would live.
I'm so glad that g-son is so concerned and tender hearted with animals and birds. He has enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders since he was just a baby, maybe this has given him a love for their beauty.
After he left I sewed a couple little tool aprons that I had cut out. This ticking fabric is perfect for these aprons.

I worked on weekly paperwork until Survivor came on TV then iced cakes until 11:00 so this post is getting written at the slow curb market day and back dated.
This has been a great first day of May, hopefully the remaining 30 are as good.
Sometimes things happen that really bring God's love into a clearer prespective like looking at the little sparrow up close in all her beauty and identification marks so clearly noted makes God's love for all things great and small very real. I am so thankful each day that He loves me.
Good Night and God Bless.

What a Sweetheart your grandson is. I am so glad that he has a tender-heart when it comes to birds/animals. That is so special.

I've been so excited this week--seeing Purple Finches, Indigo Buntings, and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks... How great is that!!!

Our first couple of days in May have been good also... I think I was READY for some warmer, spring-like weather...

Hugs,
Betsy

It is a blessing to know a young person is tender hearted and he will grow up to be the same. Hope your weekend will be a good one.
